Chilly Gonzales knackt das Erfolgsrezept von ABBA! 50 Jahre nachdem die schwedischen Pop-Ikonen den Eurovision Song Contest mit „Waterloo“ gewonnen haben, schaut der kanadische Pianist und Komponist noch einmal ganz genau auf die Songs der Band. Warum haben „Dancing Queen“ und „Waterloo“ auch heute noch Hitpotenzial? Und welche Schnittmenge haben ABBA und ODB?
Ein echtes Stück Musikgeschichte:
Im neuen Dokumentarfilm "ESC-Legenden: ABBA - Die ganze Geschichte" erlebt ihr die Höhen und Tiefen einer der größten Bands aller Zeiten. Entlang von ABBAs Welthits von 1976 bis 1980 zeichnet der Film Aufstieg und Ruhm der Kultband nach.

Hä, Spannung und Auflösung ist ein Grundprinzip unserer westlichen Musik. Deswegen gibt es ja auch Leittöne. Gewagt das genau mit Abba in Verbindung zu bringen. Das Geheimnis von ABBA ist dass sie wahnsinnig gute Melodien gepaart mit grandiosen Songwirting perfektioniert haben.
Für ne Sext und None das Wort Overreach und für den Leitton Underreach zu verwenden ist auch etwas reißerisch.

Could be it's depending on ABBA's degree of iconicity when it comes to melody, chord progression etc.. Today's musical street prostitutes mostly are running short of contours, sounding interchangeable. As for me, I'm avoiding faceless droning.
Another helpless try to explain the magic of ABBA. They never had a "secret", they have talent, they absolutely love music and they know how to make these heavenly voices shine like stars (with a little help from Michael B. Tretow). You can be sure, Benny would laugh for hours if you tell him about overreach and underreach...ridiculous.
Maybe you noticed that he completely changed his ridiculous hair at least three times during this video. So even if you don't already know Chilly Gonzalez, this might serve as a clue that this might not be taken at face value

Schnarch... Chilly ist ja ein sympathischer und unterhaltsamer Typ, aber er bläst hier lediglich das völlig normale und gängige Phänomen des "Vorhalts"-Tons für Ahnungslose zu etwas angeblich Besonderem auf.
