The song says how soon man will soon walk on the moon & only 4 years later it was true. Makes me sad they don't do big things like that anymore.

Tony Hatch was very optimistic to write that line, as it came true. Today's people & politics are just too cynical to match the Swinging 60's fun to blend in with the cynical approach they had back then(the Vietnam War, the assassinations, etc.) Tony & Pet were just trying to be light hearted about the hard times the 60's had to offer, and were stating with this song "Look on the bright sides, there's better oppertunities ahead." This decade could use a dose of that optimism.

@@surferpam1 Ironic that this song came out about two years after JFK's assassination. Tony and Pet were just trying to be optimistic about it all. This is one of the most optimistic songs of the 1960's.

Petula’s fourh top 40 hit of 1965 right after her first number one Downtown in January 1965,I Know A Place that peaked at number three in May 1965,and You’d Better Come Home that peaked at number twenty-two in August 1965. Round Every Corner hit number twenty-one,one position short of the top twenty back in November 1965 and in February 1966,Petula rebounded and scored her second number one hit with My Love(not to be confused with the Paul McCartney and Wings song that hit number one for four weeks just seven years later in June 1973).

I heard this for the first time this week on a countdown flashback on 60s on 6. I was hooked immediately. I'm just surprised it wasn't a bigger hit. It sounds great & has an awesome message.
