I'm a home owner who is learning how to do HVAC. I purchased an SM480V and one JL3RH probe. My question is do I need two of these probes? My understanding is the dry bulb type K clip that comes with the SMAN is used for the outside condenser temp and then you use one JL3RH as a wet bulb on the return air vent. So why do you have two JL3RH probes? PS I will be checking my main home AC plus my garage mini split system with this gear. Any tips appreciated!
you better have a epa 608 because if you dont you can not even have gauges please dont try to work on your own equipment unless you have the knowledge to do so before you end up messing somthing up
@@LichaelMewis well if your just a DIYer and you installed a heat pump by yourself thats pretty impressive. I was under the impression you fixed your A/C with gauges and we all know gauges just lets you know the operating conditions.
Oh…and one more question. Does the SM480V detect what refrigerant is in the system? In other words…if an R22 unit was converted to 407C and you walk up on it unknowingly, will the gauges detect that particular refrigerant and tell you?
I just stumbled here (this video) and love the channel. Subscribed! I am a fairly new tech and looking at the SMAN480V, but I’ve got to ask: how does it know the target superheat? Currently I look at the rating plate (if available) and plug it into an app or use the old fashioned chart to determine.
I have been beating the hell out of mine for over a year literally hundreds of service calls. I don’t use the protective bag I just throw it in the back of the vehicle on top of the tools under the tools it gets treated like a football.
Yeah don’t do that 😂 I want these. I have the probes and I must have picked up a lemon bc they always have trouble connecting. How does the Bluetooth work in the SMAN? Is the distance decent
Not an HVAC guy here, so don't laugh. We have a 2yr old 5T goodman system and the readout (hot day 90F) on the SMAN was 105PSIG, 4.2 SH, 34.1 VSTAT, (R410coolant), 38.3 SLT, 89.9LLT 275.7PSIG on the right, 0.8 SC, 90.1LSAT. so, the tech who read that said those numbers are way off. could this have been because of the dirty filter? it was filthy! thanks
Your review would have much more credibility if you could bother to know what unit you actually have. It's also not a good advertisement for your work ethic if climbing into the van to look at your gauges is too much trouble.
Thanks! Got the gauges but don’t have the other tools, was wondering exactly how all that worked together. I really appreciate it, great video!
Thanks for the video. Ordered me one. Waiting on it to arrive.
Just got a set today great video thanks for the info I need using the wireless probes now I got the SM480V love it
Nice Van setup, getting ready to start my HVAC business, what model and make is the van and who did the inside setup?
Almost bought some testo 557s today but I'm glad I didn't. I think I'm gonna get these instead 😍 Good video. Subscription added
I’ve had a set for two weeks now! They rock!
What's the price
Howmuch. For that geaqe
Thanks! Thought of getting one myself and this did the trick!
That's a great video... Answers a lot of questions in a short amount of time.
They should just come with the wireless clamps or offer that option
Agree

@@koryluce3856 I took care of it myself. Got my heat pump running perfectly fine and saved a ton of money and gained a ton of knowledge.
@@LichaelMewis what was wrong with it that you needed gauges in the first place?
@@luismelchor744 the Heatpump was a new install that required gauges. The main ac system nothing was wrong, I just wanted to check it.

Sweet FYI video. NOW do one and use it to "diagnose". Thx in advance!!

No
What made you choose the 480 vs 380?
It's got an extra port for vacuum hose. 4 instead of 3.
Your van is nice and clean, I respect that lol
I disrespect that. Boi you even work???!!!

You enter the temps and dew points wet and dry. Check you manual for how.
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Nice Video, what did you end up doing with the issues you found.
Just got one were i can get the manuals
i just started doing hvac and i purchased a SM480V, and i was wondering what size evacuation hose attaches to the manifold.
I believe it’s a 3/8 fitting on the manifold
Where do put your psycrometer at?
Thanks for the info man! 👍👍
Very informative video thanks
Nice video. Love to real world how to
Those refrigerant tanks don’t look stored in an upright position. ;)
Great video, thanks.

Muy buena información
I got a harbor freight gauge set i bought for 30 bucks 15 years ago and it still works after over a decade of abuse from 3 different techs

Jeez 😂 you’re crazy man
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
If you have the wireless and the app waht is the point to have it?that is only wasted money for my point of view
👍
As heads up …. Don’t ever drop the gauges on the brass ports….. I fucked mine up like that tbh they started leaking really bad.

@@murkyturkey5238 honestly man idk cause I never use the Bluetooth .. and dude yesterday I dropped them on the brass ports agaiinnnn 😅

As a mechanic with 20 years experience this is great stuff but a bit too much.
Lol slightly overcharged
