Cloud Inversion on Slioch Mountain

- Two nights spent camping in the highlands near the summit of Slioch mountain. Both mornings and one evening displays a magnificent cloud inversion over the region, affording spectacular views and photo opportunities. It’s also world mental health awareness week as this video goes live, and I discuss my own mental health struggles in order to try and lessen the stigma around the struggle that too many are going through today.

About Me:
Hi and thanks for checking out my videos! I’m Feargus Cooney, a photographer and amateur explorer who has been disappearing into the wilderness for most of my life. It’s my passion and my salvation from the stresses of everyday existence!
The main aim of my excursions/expeditions is to explore the relatively (and occasionally completely) unknown if I can - to get off the beaten path in some way and bring back photography of nature and wilderness.
I’ve been filming my adventures since 1999, though am only a recent addition to using TH-cam as a way of getting the experiences out there. During the COVID-19 pandemic my wife and I made the decision it was time to escape the stress of living far from any real wilderness and moved to northern Scotland, and that’s where most of these videos take place. It’s not as pure and unspoilt as some wilderness areas around the world but it can certainly be remote and wild. I also head off into more ‘pure’ wilderness around the world once or twice a year, and will occasionally add videos from my archive of trips I did in the past where the quality is high enough.
Scotland has made a world of difference to my mental health. The space - and right - to roam here, along with a healthier attitude to freedom of access to nature than I’ve come across in most places I’ve lived has made entering this phase of my life a truly transformative one, raising me out of persistent cycles of depression and stress that have plagued most of my adult life.
I’m passionate about nature and the wilderness and always have been, and I hope to share some of that passion with you.

Absolutely beautiful video. Stunning scenery and great underwater footage....I used to go to mountain bike races in Wicklow mountains....
I so so understand what you mean about getting outdoors...at present I can't get up the Mourne Mountains due to having left foot rebuilt...but I can walk around my village with my camera and that's enough to give me a mental boost.
You were lucky to see 3 inversions...brilliant mountain photography.

Ouch, that sounds unpleasant with your foot! Never been hiking in the Mournes but I do remember being delighted I could see them on the horizon from the tops of the Wicklow mountains :) Thanks for the encouraging comment!

Thanks Julie. For a long time I wouldn't talk about it to anyone - certainly not publicly, but more recently it's become important to me to be more open about it to try and tackle the stigma around depression and other mental health problems. Take care :)
Brilliant again.Thank you for sharing your adventure.By the way, I used to suffer from minor depression and I found out that Rhodiola rosea, also known as golden root, can really help.Perhaps you can give it a try.Good luck anyway.

Stunning video. Loved it. I was up Slioch about 3 weeks ago and didn't get any views unfortunately. It's nice seeing what the views are like on other people's videos. I want to return one day for the views.
