Went through all your videos in this series the other night for a refresher before taking exam. Proud to say I have my EPA Universal Certification at 21 y/o.
wow ! that is truly amazing at 21. If I may inquire where did you take this test ? I am Arizona and am wondering if I should look to remote test or find a local HVAC supplier thank you.
I'm here to thank HVAC School for all they have done for my college and for me as well. I'm a student at a community college and my father is the one who brought me into the world of HVAC. But at my college, I noticed that there's a lot of young guys who needed a second chance. And here it is, we are all now Epa certified, and I will continue my education for my associates. But for a lot of my friends this was their last class it was very emotional and also beautiful to see the amazing work me and my professor had done to teach these guys everything HVAC in 4 weeks, with the help of HVAC School. I couldn't thank you all enough for the information gained from your content. Thanks. - Dante Collins, Houston Community College, Work Force Education 2024-2025
Outstanding presentation. I am going for my EPA test. I'm a little intimidated as I am 73, but I worked in the field for many years aboard US Navy and Coast Guard. 197 to 1992 but never needed the EPA. I am working again due to inflation and want to repair the systems at the complex where I am a maintenance tech. Really great video. Maybe, the best I have seen in the last few months. Thank you so much
You know they say it takes one person to make you understand something that others have been trying to explain to ya the whole time … and you are it for me thanks !
Hello good people, who is watching and following in 2022? Thanks so much brayan for the great work you are doing. Just took my epa universal test yesterday and excelled. These videos help alot.
I'm currently working as an apprentice at a refrigeration company and actively studying to get my universal EPA, I just have such a hard time reading and remembering what I read (studying) always have even as a kid. These videos help me a lot
Best thing I’ve learned is to try not to remember things, find ways to visualize them and you won’t have to try to remember. It’s easier said then done but if you find a rhythm that works for you , you’ll learn way faster
Hey man i know its been nine months but i just wanted to ask how is it going and if you ended up passing it cuz i am taking it this weekend and im kind of nervous
I'm 17 n desperately looking for a way to study for this exam thats not staring at a book dude I SUCK at retaining information that way. I hope videos can get my through it😂
I can’t thank you enough for the great class and the way you are simplifying things. I’m a third year apprentice plumber here in Denver and your channel is helping a lot specially I never new anything about HVAC or even worked closely with any technician
I would like to put it out there that this man was a big help in every series I have gotten certified in hvac bc of the review knowledge and my boss knowledge as well big thanks!
I have my written exam in a few weeks … I understand that the core is the most important part of the written test… thanks for this upload very informative!!!
Thank you for this video! I’m in the navy and i really don’t have a large number of resources to get familiar with EPA so I appreciate having this as a gateway to allow my growth and potential future in HVAC
I take my test Friday. I have the ESCO book and it’s very technical but obviously worth the deep study factor. This video helps me to remember the core thoughts and principles associated with the EPA test so thanks for all your help in advance! I will edit this comment when I get my results.
Just got started with my AAS in HVACR. My professor/teacher told me we basically can't even leave his 1st-semester class without Universal Certification. I am super stoked about this school. I know it's going to be difficult but I'll leave a more skilled tech.
I really love your videos, they have been a great help. As a apprentice in the field, and the student in the class. I appreciate all the work and time you put into these. 😎
Great video, my test is coming up soon. I've realized my instructor is old school, he calls every refrigerant "freon". 134a freon, 410a freon, stuff like that. I didn't know freon was just an old brand name for a long time lol
Thanks so much for this video series! With the video, and associated ESCO prep manual, and practice tests, I obtained my EPA 608 Universal certification!
These videos really help me understand the proper terms used n the havoc field... I've been listening to your videos to help me review the material that I will eventually have to do on the actual test... Thank you so much
Thank you so much for these incredibly useful uploads! I'm 27 and I'm starting an apprenticeship hopefully sometime within the next month and your videos have been a huge help both with retaining knowledge and giving me motivation.
took my test today (universal), it was close but I passed just barely. if you arent sure if your ready then just keep studying because the test is kind of tough
I think I got it memorized. Someone correct me if I'm wrong: Vapor goes into the compressor, which is a pressure increaser, and changes state from vapor to a hot gas. The hot gas goes through the discharge line into the condenser, which is a heat rejector, and changes state from a hot gas to a hot liquid. Then the hot liquid goes through the liquid line into the metering device, which is a pressure reducer. The hot liquid then goes into the expansion line where it begins to boil into the evaporator, which is a heat absorber. The cooled liquid then goes through the suction line where it changes state from liquid to vapor. Correct?
not quite. When it goes through the compressor, it does increase in pressure and temperature, but it doesn't change state. It remains a vapor (or a gas, same thing). Out of the condenser it changes state from a hot gas to a hot liquid, yes. this is correct. Remember that by the time it has left the condenser it should be subcooled, even though it is relatively hot. The metering device decreases the pressure, and by doing this the temperature also drops. So it is (relatively) cool liquid. It goes into the evaporator wherein it boils and becomes a cool vapor.
Do they ask for dates in the test. A lot of techs have told me to remember dates of events that have happened or dates on rules that were mandated. I've got the qwik study guide newly updated ninth edition and no dates are displayed anywhere for anything. Just trying to keep all my ducks in a row before the test. Great videos I listen to the podcasts in my van every day!

Hi Bryan and thanks for your time and fruitful and informative videos, I am just wondering if there is a certain figure for the emissions of refrigerant as we have filling station for HFC, HC and HFO
A couple quick questions kinda dumb... the R stands for refridgerant, in R11 right? And what does the B and the A stand for? In R142B or R403A.. is the A, Amonia? Whats the B?
can you use an ozone generator and bleed the cfc and hcfc gases through an ozone field to gice the gas something to destroy so the ozone destroying properties would be consumed? my theory would be to use an ozone generating say uvc disinfecting lamp and bleed the gas into a box containing the lamp so the reaction would cancel each other out thereby you can vent the gas. it is kind of like if you ever dropped a car battery and the acid spilled out you may drop some baking soda and water to neutralize the acid so you. can clean up the acid mess. same idea here can ozone generator be used to neutralize the cfc to allow venting?
Sort of, but not to any practical benefit. CFCs and HCFCs are very very stable and not water soluble. When they get to the stratosphere UV breaks them down and releases the Chlorine where it can catalyze the destruction of O3. So you wouldn't need to generate O3, you'd simply use the UV light to break down the CFCs. But think about what you would need: some machine to capture the refrigerant and expose it to strong UV for a sufficient period of time. You couldn't simply set up a UV light by the leak. You would neet to react _all_ of the refrigerant, and that means a very strong light that couldn't be in open air. You'd also want to exclude all of the air (or let in controlled amounts). So you need a machine to capture the refrigerant, put it into a tank with the UV source, and _then_ you would need to dispose of the resulting gunk. So you might as well just capture the refrigerant into a tank and put it to use. Jon
Can't wait for part 2

I’m guessing just like most things even though each item has a specific name you still changed it to what you’re used to saying.
Thank you boss for the information.
So can I take the exam without going to a school? What is the cheapest way to get into the career?
You can do it at Zack Academy which is online! It's pretty good for the 608 track.
Also Skillcat.com - Free epa 608 and online testing, also free HVAC training.
So what about for big buildings? What refrigerant are we moving to? Keeping r22 or moving to propane and 1234yf?
Why would you change the names of the components from what the test is going to ask when you are doing a "study guide"?
