You are a life saver! I am preparing for NICET level 3 water-based. I have 6-1/2 years of fire sprinkler design experience and this is a big help. So glad you posted this. I would also like to see how to size a fire pump and how to size a water storage tank.

Does pressure not come out of the heads? For some reason I thought you would have to add up all the pressures at each head... how much pressure would come out the orifice of the heads once the activated?

Hi - currently preparing for my Level IV - came across this and have read some threads on eng-tips where you have commented. I'm looking for any help I can get with studying.

The last example you only considered 1 of the 3 sprinklers on the left side of the branch. Could you explain why you just didn’t assume an equal flow as the right side?

What happens when you have screwed fittings at each head?

Your p6-4 should be 0.27 which changes the last few calcs.

Hello There. Is this class useful when I work with the software.

This is a basic tutorial on how to do hydraulic calculation of fire sprinkler systems. It is not software specific as we only used a calculator and pen to do this.
