You are a life saver! I am preparing for NICET level 3 water-based. I have 6-1/2 years of fire sprinkler design experience and this is a big help. So glad you posted this. I would also like to see how to size a fire pump and how to size a water storage tank.
The last example you only considered 1 of the 3 sprinklers on the left side of the branch. Could you explain why you just didn’t assume an equal flow as the right side?
Does pressure not come out of the heads? For some reason I thought you would have to add up all the pressures at each head... how much pressure would come out the orifice of the heads once the activated?
Hi - currently preparing for my Level IV - came across this and have read some threads on eng-tips where you have commented. I'm looking for any help I can get with studying.
This is a basic tutorial on how to do hydraulic calculation of fire sprinkler systems. It is not software specific as we only used a calculator and pen to do this.

I am license professional Engineer. The calculation I learned in the real life, this professor is giving in the class. God bless him.
It is lengthy but what a wonderful class.
Wow this was very good. Hope you can do more of them.
Thanks for sharing this. Great Info.
Marvelous class.. theory and practice blends to the best..
Your p6-4 should be 0.27 which changes the last few calcs.

Subscribed too!!☺️👍
What happens when you have screwed fittings at each head?

In the last example why haven't u considered elevation pressure in the riser pipe to calculate final pressure
Vivek Gopakumar May just forgot it. This was done on the fly.
