Customizing the body to look like a 1934 Ford 😎

  • We cut off a section of the cowl the other day because we didn't like how it ran straight along the chassis. We want it to swoop up so that it looks like a 1934-1936 Ford. But before we start fabricating that custom piece, we want to show you all the work that's been done off camera 😎

    I knew the motor was too high, but wasnt sure how high or low you were going to put the body , so I didnt say anything. I put a 454 in my 29 essix and it took some figuring to get it in the right spot. Plus ..tilt the motor back " very" slightly,..never perfectly level. As a car builder I see some of your mistakes ahead of time, and say,....this is gonna bite them, LOL. There is sooo much that goes into these builds that the average person cant begin to comprehend. You guys are making GREAT time on that old dodge. great show guys.!!!

      I like to watch Bad Chad very much, but his plans are subject to charge daily, sometimes even hourly, so fellow viewers don't take it as carved in stone. It's more like an improv show, made up as he goes along, and very entertaining!!

      Carb Float bowl must be level!!!

    • @happyrv2061
      @happyrv2061 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardsmith3905 yes it does, but the intake manifold always sits slightly higher at the back to compensate for the engine angle. car manufactures always tilted the motor in this matter, so if the car got into a head on crash,....the motor would go under rather than slamming straight back, crushing the firewall and driver. as well,..the power train was always off to the right hand side to make more room for the driver. that is why one axle is always shorter on the right side of the car . the engine is not put in perfectly straight either. If you put the motor in straight...the drive shaft will be on an angle. hope all this info helps . there is a lot more to know than a person thinks. the rear pinion on a rear end is NOT in the middle.

  • @dlux703
    @dlux703 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

    If you re-do the engine mounts to lower it, you can solve your pinion angle issue at the same time by lowering the rear, trans. a bit more than the front. Just match the angle of the trans output to the angle of the diff input and you're home free. The ujoints will be happy as clams. The car looks GREAT from the sides!

      @@eddiedebeer1709Agreed. People said the engine was too high early on in the build but Chad being Chad insisted on doing it his way. Pays to listen to comments occasionally Chad ! 🤔

      Don't understand why Nate didn't raise the pinion angles from the begining.

    • @Estabanjuan
      @Estabanjuan หลายเดือนก่อน

      Based on my limited understanding of "pinion angles", it appears that the trans output shaft AND the pinion are both parallel. It's the driveshaft that is angled. That's why you need u-joints. They compensate for the angle. As long as the angle is not too extreme. In this case, we'll see.

    • @dlux703
      @dlux703 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Estabanjuan They are NOT parallel in this car. The trans output is virtually horizontal, as in NO angle, while the rear pinion is angled slightly up from horizontal. This puts the ujoints in conflict, causing vibrations that will wreck the driveline, the tunnel, and possibly the occupants, at speed. Or, at the very least, will trash the output bearings on the trans, or the input bearings on the diff, or both. Of course, the chances of this car being "driven at speed" are slim, if that.
