    As sketchy as things are , it's sort of mandatory to check the new two prong coolant sensor ,19mm socket before installing. Use the new washer, ductile copper hardens with use. At room temp it reads infinity between the to male pieces of flat metal in the connector. Left in a pot of water that started to boil it read 220 ohms for me. Check your old sensor as well just in case the gremlins are in the wiring. On my pick and pull queen there was a second coolant sensor with one wire 17mm socket too. Reads infinity at room temp, 200 ohms after being pulled out of a pot of boiling water.
    one more sensor in the area is a knock sensor 1 1/8'' socket. Do not break the knock sensor, they are unattainable. Thanks for getting me off my rear and off to the rodeo. And do remove the bracket that connects the edge of the intake manifold with the block and supports the fuel pressure regulator. 3 bolts with a 12mm head, makes it all so much easier to get to.

    I ALWAYS make sure my lower back is about to spasm when I work on my 240! Great video, thank you! I have a question, do you know if there is a sensor AND a sender on a 240? I already did my sender (and took several Ibu 800mg. afterward). Mine had one male spade on it. I have a '91 240, and it surges at idle. Everything I've found online says it's the sensor sending a signal that the motor is cold. It smells rich when it runs too, which makes me think this is it.

  • @ChristopherBurtraw
    @ChristopherBurtraw ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if this could be pulled off on a kjet model. Hopefully I never have to find out. The only sensor in question is the gauge one anyway, the one that fires up the "warm up valve" or whatever is easy to get to. Thankfully my gauge was fixed by replacing the thermostat, the old one was just opening too early, sensor is fine.

    ‘84 Volvo 240 Wagon with a serious cold start issue; when temps are at/below freezing. She cranks and cranks and may eventually start depending on just HOW cold it is. Once she fires I am golden and she runs and restarts smoothly. Have new fuel pumps and injector o rings. Next on list is either cold start injector and/or this sensor. Any advice on this scenario would be greatly appreciated. Also, when and if it does fire up, I’m smelling fuel.

    Was your Volvo not starting before you replaced this coolant temp sensor? Or did this fix the problem? I have a 1991 that I just built a motor for, it ran great for a week but now just turns over like yours did and won’t start. I have fuel at the fuel rail , ignition, and the engines timed. Won’t fire. Coolant temp sensor?

    • @westleyworley1731
      @westleyworley1731  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MOOSE! Yup!! It would only run if I kept giving it throttle for a few minutes. Does yours not run at all?

    • @Gohardmoose370
      @Gohardmoose370 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It ran for about a week after getting the engine and everything tightened down, then one night came home about a half hour later went out to get a drink and the thing fired once for a second, died, and after that it’s just been cranking but no starts yet, I’ve replaced my crank position sensor and the other sensors that could cause the ecu to not get correct signals. I’m going to try a new ECT sensor and hope that I have similar results! Thanks for making this video!
