What a lovely video of your Easter celebration. My family is also German background and this reminds me of the tastes, smells and delights of home Nostalgia for sure. One thing that is the most important reason for Easter is that our Lord Jesus Christ is RISEN from the grave. When we greet each other, we say “He is risen”. “He is risen indeed”.
Szép, kedves hagyomány! Az én házában is álomszép húsvéti tojásokat estünk és diszitunk. Főleg a piros szín dominál, mely Jézus verenek állít emléket. A nyuszi hozzá a piros tojást, melyet Húsvét hetfojen a zöld fűben rejtenek el a gyerekeknek. Hétfőn locsoljak meg a fiúk a lányokat, ezért kapnak piros tojást a lányoktól. Sonka, főtt tojás húsvéti kalács a hagyományos húsvéti eledel. Magyarországról kívánok áldott Húsvéti Ünnepeket! From Hungary Happy Easter! ❤❤❤
Thank you for this video. I am also German. When my kids were little, I use to hollow my eggs out dye them put yarn through them and decorate my small crabapple trees. Until now I only knew that the hardboiled eggs were coloured in a pot or a jar. We paint the blown-out eggs with patterns by hand, e.g. with watercolours or felt-tip pens. The easter eggs painted by your children are really lovely. Greetings from Southern Germany.
Lovely meal. Nice table setting. Scalloped potatoes have a bit of dairy or stock and sometime onions and dusting of flour between the layers to thicken. Au gratin is with cheese.

Looks delicious. I used to blow out the eggs too to decorate the beams of my ceilings with metal baskets with the eggs, white and brown. I never thought of coloring them for Easter. My mother who came here from Germany used to color the eggs during the year with different color onion peels, they always looked nice to Have a Happy Easter, stay well and safe.

I am so glad you enjoyed this video! I am working hard on creating those recipes. The link at least for the Easter bread should be in the description box later today ~ Anja
Thank you for sharing your German traditions for Easter. Actually I lived in Stuttgart, Germany 3 years because my husband was in the Army. I noticed during Easter in Germany, many Germans placed pussy willows in a vase with Easter ornaments for one of their Easter decorations. Did you ever used pussy willow branches for one of your Easter decorations?
I have to get my Osterbaum up this week. You've inspired me to get going on that! (I also still have the eggs we blew out probably more than a decade ago!)
You can also add 1 teaspoon of mustard to green bean beans ( Fisole), it will taste delicious. I watch the YT videos of *CALLEkocht* (Omas Rezepte) as the home cooking dishes.
Thank you for your inspiring video. I must confess that at home in Germany, Easter is clearly just the number two holiday and can't compete with Christmas + New Year. Can't tell you why, but springtime seems to be not the ideal moment for rest and tranquility, which actually makes that big difference. For all I know, the Slavic countries of Europe and also Greece make a lot more of Easter than of Christmas.
I love lamb chops. I am going to make the herb butter the next time I cook them. Your dinner looked delicious. Love your Easter decoration. Best part is always unboxing our memories.
So glad you enjoyed this video! The potatoes are simply sliced, placed in baking dish, covered half-way with sour cream and bone broth, and then baked for about 45 mins or until done. Enjoy 😊 ~ Anja
What a lovely dinner. I want to try making the potatoes. I am curious if Lamb cake is something you have heard of for Easter. I am of Polish and German decent. My Polish roots boarder Germany. We always have had Lamb Cake and Lamb butter for Easter ❤
Interesting. I particularly like those rabbits in your window. I don't know or have run into very many "traditional" German people throughout my life (Americans with German surnames who are completely Americanized, yes I know). The one German family I especially do recall had a daughter who was into krafts just as you are, and I also recall another family who was meticulously planning for Christmas long before Christmas came along. The impression I am getting from you and them is that Germans who cling to their roots enjoy all the trappings of the Christmas and Easter holidays more than most. Anja, I have a question which has nothing to do with the holidays. I recall from watching one of your videos that you mentioned something about purchasing German coffee at Trader Joes. I wanted to try this because I do not like strong coffee either yet when I asked the employees about a German roast coffee, they knew nothing about it. I don't recall a specific name that you mentioned, either. Can you name which coffee you were referring to?
Yay! Have fun making those bunnies! Since we typically don't get frost, you can grow things all year round but March/April are big planting seasons in our area 😊 ~ Anja
