What do you expect? I mean her family and academic background is no joke. A father who is a hospital director in of the biggest hospital in japan and also a well known and renowned orthopedic surgeon not just in japan but also in other part of the world. Not to mention the school where she came from before she moved to s. Korea to pursue her dream as an idol is also a well known prestigious school in japan. You can't enter that school with just money. You have to have brains too. And even on 1st glance i know she's smart. She's usually quiet and well reserved. And she has her own quirks. But it can't hide how smart she is.

Mina's mom is a lawyer. Her dad is an orthopedic surgeon. I think she grew up in a good environment. She got into a private all girl's school known to be academically competitive. She learned english because her parents hoped she would study abroad but she got hooked with KPOP so she started going to dance academy and learned Hangul as well so when she got scouted she was already well-prepared. Studying languages at that age already shows she has a good head. Her logical and analytical thinking also makes her a really smart kid.

I don't think Mina graduated from highschool when she first started training at JYPE in January 2014, which she also mentioned on the youtube documentary. She was 17 years then and was supposed to graduate in March 2015 in Japan. However, when Dahyun graduated from Hanlim highschool in 2017 Mina said on Vlive it reminded her of her own graduation two years ago which means Mina did graduate from highschool but in 2015.

From what I have observed, Mina understands and pick up things really fast. As Jihyo said, you can tell that one person is smart when you spend a lot of time with her/him and since a lot of the members say that Mina is smart, I think it is safe to say that is indeed the case. :)
I agree about this 💯% because highly intelligent people found that they were more likely to suffer from a range of serious disorders. Just like what happen to her recently about anxiety disorder.
Since Mina is just so smart, she is prone of this kind of disorder.

I'd rather you not say this if it is not based on statistical facts..Yours is a conjecture that have many living examples to prove you wrong.
There is a study that you can find called; "High intelligence: A risk factor for psychological and physiological overexcitabilities", that can give you further insight into the statement made by Ramos, although I do agree that many other factors can play into the diagnosis of anxiety disorder and should not be solely attributed to someone's higher intelligence. I think the comment was made to provide potential possibilities into why Mina may have anxiety disorder in response to the video praising her high intelligence, however I do believe that when talking about someone who suffers from this mental illness we should approach it with a high level of forethought. The study that I referenced above uses general population statistics to get their results and I think using numbers like these to talk about an individual case of anxiety disorder would prove more harmful than good. Hope I didn't come off as preachy. The subject of these two comments really interested me. Edit : I want to clarify that this comment is more in reply to Koh Angela and less in reply to the initial comment.

3. The local or regional language - as you know Philippines is an archipelago with more than 7000 islands and with that, almost 200 languages 😊

Normally when you ask a group who's the best at this or who is great at what its allways a weird topic to touch apon, but they instantly said that mina and jihyo are the smartests in the group, which shows how humble and mature they are.
I think why Nayeon said that "Mina can think of things that you don't think of" is because Mina play games and also puzzles. So that's why she thinks out of the box when it comes to things.

Having a good memory doesnt make you a genius. For example certain student can memorize a long ass formula but cant use it in a problem and theres student who has really bad memory but derives the freakin formula by using principle. I personally know these types of people.

@@unidentified7213 one of the reasons I think because Tzuyu understands more languages compared to other members? Like she's Taiwanese who speaks Mandarin but also speaks Korean and knows Japanese and English. Language proficiency is often one of the major aspects of intellegence. Other members of Twice are still learning Mandarin to this point I guess.. from what I know from their variety shows except Tzuyu they only know basic phrases in Mandarin.
