Right at that spot where you're standing used to be the beginning of an old wooden pier that started running out over the water right underneath a long wooden balcony of 6 connected cabanas belonging to the now gone Surf Court Motel. Enjoyed lots of coffee on that creaky old balcony while sitting and watching the shrimp boats head out early in the morning and the sun come up a little later. Sure was convenient just coming down the stairs of #1 and walking right out onto the pier. The motel was in that area that's now cleared ( except for some palm trees) over your left shoulder as you're facing the bay. The motel had about 15 other rooms beside the cabanas & a nice pool that was surrounded by some palm trees. I caught many nice trout, reds, & drum from that old pier. It was good for catching blue crabs, too.The owners tried to keep it up and to fix it up nicer, but just didn't have the funds. I think the city was also pressuring them with codes and wanted the area for the nice pier that you're now showing us.Thanks for taking me back down memory lane. I'm sure that your video will be helpful for those who don't know the area and want to pier fish. And like you said..the fish ARE out there.
