Native Nevadan here; they're pronounced Ee-lee and Ne-vad-uh, but honestly close enough for someone who doesn't live nearby. 50 is one of the best routes, and there's so many cool things to see seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Most people think of Nevada as desolate but it's got so many cool hidden places.
I grew up on that high way and went out towards Austin a lot just to blow off steam and hike around the valleys out there it’s cool to see one of my favorite TH-camrs go out there. I never noticed those sand dunes! Those are awesome.
That drainage ditch you camped by is a famous spot. (7:10) Or it used to be. We used to stop there back in the day because it was where the famous shoe tree was. The tree, where hundreds of discarded sneakers and boots had been tossed, was cut down by vandals on Dec. 30, 2010 -- but new footwear quickly sprouted from a "sister shoe tree" nearby. It used to be massive. Makes me think I need to find some picks back in the early 2000s when it was still up.
Hey Timmy, I work at a switchyard next to those wind towers. They let us climb then when it was being built. Each tower is capable of generating 2.3 megawatts of electricity.
You drove right through my hometown of Fallon and right passed my house. I wish I could have met you on your way through. Also would have been cool to go out to sand mountain and show you around. That’s one of our favorite places to ride! Keep on truckin Timmy!!!!
The area between Moab and Telluride is where I was born and spent my childhood, moved back there from Anchorage and stayed for 20+ years, amazing, wild land!
I am so happy you are enjoying those amazing days. I am also happy to see videos more often, such an incredible thing you do! Keep going, Timmy. you rock!
We took that hwy back in the 80s on a motorcycle. It was really lonely without cell phones back then. But we did it with friends. (not so lonely). Talk about wide open spaces! Beautiful. It was hard to go back to Michigan after that, but we retired to a mountaintop in CA.
I was born and raised in Nevada so I know Hwy 50 very well. The Sand Dunes are close to Fallon and they move quite a bit due to the wind. Fallon is where some flight scenes in Top Gun were filmed as well. The small towns along the way, Austin, Eureka and Ely are worth a stop. Thank you for sharing your drive. I haven't been back to Nevada in 22 yrs, so this video brings me home.....ps it's pronounced E Lee.....the Copper mine is Liberty Pit in Ruth. The largest open pit Copper mine in the world....
Love Reno! Great town. So cool to see this drive. I have a “little brother” 7.3 OBS F250. I’ve learned a lot about my truck watching you 🙏 Strong work with your health recovery progress. I’m a PT… spine injuries are no joke! Keep it up. 💪
How cool, my familly and I live in this area and near Nervino Airport number of years. Lots of farms out here too. Cool to see the sand dunes the mines, an all of it, also. We travel this highway a lot but to Reno, other areas...very beautiful as well as Alaska. Awesome you made it to burning man again. Stay cool, Timmy safe travels! I love your truck, cabin too. I have been watching your show for awhile and am a subscriber cool!
During the start of the pandemic, I had driven from Oklahoma to Utah, and I remember this exact road you're on in Nevada, Timmy. One of the most gorgeous scenic views I've ever seen.
Timmy, been long time follower. I have seen you on the road a few times. Live in Anchor Point for last 6 years. It's so cool st see you passing through Nevada on Hwy 50 I moved from Ely in 2019 lived there since 1967 very cool to see you pass so many familiar places. And it is pronounced "E-Lee" safe trip!
Man the Playa dust finds its way into everything! The K&N filters are actually pretty good, but they take a lot more work! Gotta clean them and properly re-oil them and it’s sooo much easier to replace with another dry filter. Enjoy the trip on the highway boss!
I started learning to drive on that section of the highway from Austin to Fallon. I loved seeing Sand Mountain! Haven't been back in the Fallon area in years! Nice to see. Great camping in the mountains around Austin.
I went to Burning Man 2010, 2011 and 2012. My friends were living in South LT at the time, but were from Carbondale CO. We drove the 50 one year to the valley. Loved this video and the last one. Brought back so many memories. Also, I believe it’s pronounced Eee-lee. Anyway, love your videos. Always inspiring🙌💙go dodgers!
i drove all the way through nevada going from arizona to idaho and it was by far one of the best landscapes on my trip from texas to washington. Drove past a shell and didnt realize there wasnt another gas station for about 110 miles. Never driven somewhere where gas stations are so far apart and almost ran out. But it was great scenery the whole way.
Hey Timmy! So beautiful out there! I was hoping for some drone footage and appreciated it there at the end. I love the west! You take care and be safe on your journey. ❤
Looks like you have locking front hubs?? Put the spare in the front with hubs unlocked. The diff will be disconnected . But I’m sure you already know this. 🎉🎉 Love your adventures man.
Those windmills you passed, my friend worked for a concrete company in Las Vegas and they won the bid to do the concrete base/forms for all those windmills. It took months and was state paid so he made lots of money doing that job.
42:00 That stalling has the look and feel of a simple crank case sensor. My Cummings 5.9 did that and the tach bottomed out through a check engine light . It didn't stall but the mechanic said the newer trucks will to prevent an "OFF TIME" in the injector circuits. 60 west out od New Mexico going towards Arizona is also a lonely road. Lots of dust storms. It was worth the trip when I drove thru Apache Pass in Northern Arizona.
Hwy 90 from Comstock to Marathon, then Marfa in Southwestern Texas is pretty and empty, so empty they used to have no speed limit races on some of those roads. The famous river road between Lajitas and Presidio is amazing running through part of the huge Big Bend Ranch State Park. Lots of interesting roads in the park. Camping along the River Road and in through the park, but can't say its free. Good mountain biking, best time is February or March.
I 70 really sucks across Colorado. I have noticed that the roads there are awesome near ski slopes but really suck in other areas. Telluride is a bit to yuppie for me but Bridal Falls is worth the trek. Looking forwards to your Ophir Pass trip. As I am typing this the majority of the passes are snowed in and closed for the year.
❤❤ OMG that was the most Beautiful ride. I-70 does go thru Kansas and I live about 6 blocks off of it in Kansas. U may have already come thru here though. It would be so cool to see u coming down the interstate. . I was holding my phone up and your opening music came on and she yells "Timmy" so awesome a 3 yr old knows u by your music before you even say a word. Safe Travels.💕🤗💜 from Kansas 💜🥰
@truckhouselife #truckhouselife hey Tim awesome video! But VERY QUICK BEFORE YOUR AIR FILTER COMES OFF!! You accidentally put the hose inside the lip of the filter. It has to go over the lip then tightened down or the hose pops off and won't seal properly. I made that same mistake before!! Could be why your meters were off an why your engine started running warm. Pray you see this comment before it pops off 💯💯 Stay safe out there tim an keep living the American dream!!!💯🙏🏽 Your fan Lance from NC at the Sheetz gas station🙏🏽💯
@@JonIrvine-f5x look again. The hose always goes over the filter lip then tightened with the hose clamp. He accidentally put the hose inside the filter then put the clamp on the filter. It's an honest mistake I've done it myself. Just hope he didn't tighten it to much an crack the filter hub like Ive done before🤣
@@JonIrvine-f5x tht could also be what's causing his transmission to run warm, throwing off his meters an causing random stall outs which appeared to happen shortly after because diesel trucks run harder I think than regular. I'm praying for him it's just that and a simple fix💯💯🙏🏽🙏🏽
I broke my neck and messed up my back in 1979. I am 72 years old and still going strong. You should visit Iowa it isn't just corn and soybeans place. Take care and have fun. Thanks so much for sharing your life.

I love the truck stops too. I find the funniest gifts there. Arches National park is beautiful. Not sure if you've been there before. Wind turbines need diesel gas to get going. Kind of funny. Their electricity is so intermittent it can't be fed into the electrical grid immediately but must be stored and then sent out. Great road!
long ago my brother and I were on a road trip with my 1970 Datsun 2000 roadster and heading to a series of multiple national fis alpine ski races ,SL ,GS events in California /colorado area and we ran into car overheating and had to stay in ELY 😳 while we waited for the radiator to be re-cored finally on the way to Lake Tahoe area and the cylinder head gasket went near Reno. then had to get to the Datsun repair/parts shop and luckily they had the parts and installed /repaired it and then it was off to the races and the race organizers booked us in to the olympic village at the race hill in squaw valley. for the 5 day race series .......ahh the good old days.
Austin is an actual 'living ghost town. Some cool stuff surrounding there. When you get to Ely (EE-LEE) there's the Great Basin National Park. Next time you're back, go check it out. Most isolated and quiet national park there is. Super gorgeous nature way up in high altitude. Timmy, you need one of those clip-on microphones when you are driving, it is very difficult to hear and understand you. Love your videos, have a great trip.
I’ve been watching Timmy’s channel for a year or so, and your comment made me realize I don’t think I’ve seen him without the cap. I wonder if he’s balding 😉.
I think you hit an important nail on the head. Folks today are just go go go and when a new experience is put in front of them they don't stop to soak it in and instead just peek out the window as they pass by it, both in the window of life and the window of a car.
Love riding along like Timmys quadraplegic froend that stays in the truck. He comes back.in like..yeah, had a great burger at a cool saloon...couldnt show ta though. Next scene, yeah talked to some subscribers out back...super cool. Next scene, man that was crazy, saw an old friend who I taught how to drive. We just all sit in the truck, strapped down on our IV drip. I show my dog more stuff than Timmy shows us... 😂
Some gm cars warranty is voided if knn filter is used. Lots of reasons. Also never blow compressed air backward into/through air filter, it blows holes that are not intended and will filer less and let in dirt. Just as you hit it is the best way to “clean” it. I do it with vacuum cleaners.
Hey Timmy, your wind farm question interests me but I can't give you a quick answer. I can't just pause the vid, count up the generators, and pop out a number. I can give you a start on how to understand what you are looking at. When I was in the PNW, I worked for a power company called BPA. I think the wind farm you saw is in a neighboring BA (balancing authority) to BPA. The wind and solar farms north of there in Oregon, Idaho and Washington range from 10 MW to 40 MW but I do not know how many wind mills makes up a megawatt. It depends on the generator inside. Its lots of power but only available intermittently. They need gobbs of battery storage to make the RE thing go full send. :)
Absolutely love your videos, seeing these roads I also travelled too makes me super happy. Hope you sort that transmission issue, getting anxious thinking of it freewheeling down a mountain pass!
Damn Timmy for all the money you've spent on this truck you would think it would be problem free, I hope you get it all figured out...love your videos, thanks for taking us along.
You camped right past middle gate. We ride our side by side through that mountain range great riding. You should of got a burger and a cocktail at middle gate 1/2 mile back would of been great content.

I do it with vacuum cleaners.
good call on the replacement air filter!
Another Awesome vid 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Utah is such a beautiful state.
I went through Austin over July 4th on my motorcycle. Almost wiped out because there were so many dead grass hoppers on the road
Rt 70 goes right through my town in NJ less than 5 miles from the ocean
Damn Timmy for all the money you've spent on this truck you would think it would be problem free, I hope you get it all figured out...love your videos, thanks for taking us along.
You camped right past middle gate. We ride our side by side through that mountain range great riding. You should of got a burger and a cocktail at middle gate 1/2 mile back would of been great content.
