Great interview, great band. Their melodic sounds define what Finnish black metal is to me.

Although I prefer the sargeist with Hoath Torog, and I do see you kinda asked about it but in a more subtle way. Although I prefer those Torog albums I have more respect for the new vocalist after this. I really enjoyed this interview altogether. I also think it's cool that shatraugs dad has all the albums his son released and he has to be pretty old. His daughter sounds cool but his son sounds kinda lame lol. Enjoyed this much and also looking forward to kalmankantaja. Tell him sigurd is their biggest follower from the USA 😀👌🙌🤘👊

Both are great vocalists,
Sargeist is surely among the greatest bands of this scene in my opinion
Profundus is a awesome vocalist also, he channel the wicked raging energy as so fews, just see some videos on this plataform and you will see

Also, I can't help but admire Profundus' astonishingly magnificent beard.
It is certainly a well groomed beard not the usual scruff seen amongst other bands.
Related very much to Profundus about the eternal flame within the darkness, and how life is one long ritual; as well as other words of his.

I feel like Jerry is much more outgoing than a lot of Finnish dudes. Haha. On a more serious note, I had a similar sounding childhood to Profundis, so I identify strongly with what he said.
You're right about that. Both of my parents are very talkative and social. And I've gone beyond because of my nature: always wanting to ask and learn more.

Fantastic band, one of my all time favorites.
Saw them in Großerlach - one of the best black metal shows I ever saw and together with the Farmer Boys reunion in Tübingen one of the two best concerts imho I saw in 2018.

@@RautaMetal Im used to you after all these years, and in this case both the guys you interviewed were very unobtrusive and I doubt another guy would even get an answer at all.
In the Horna interview the other guy did most of the talking.
So difficult interview performed well , I say.
Judging from the like vs dislike ratio I think you can be very pleased. 163 vs 0 as of this comment.

I love Sargeist and just discovered this nice interview. The guys seem to be so relaxed and cool but sometimes are not willing to elaborate on the questions you ask. I'm sure Shatraug has a lot more to tell than just some short answers.
I wonder is that because of the nature of his personality or he is just pissed off or something?

I always thought that Hoath Torog did the vocals still to this day most likely because when I started listening to Sargeist it was when Let The Devil In and Satanic Black Devotion was
was released but after hearing your question to Shatraug about the line ups it explained it more to me. I don't think l have heard Profundus and Shatraug's vocals whilst singing in Sargeist.
I know how Profundus feels l had a dark abusive childhood black metal saved me and has made me look up to them with their attitudes towards black metal and life in general.
I noticed that Shatraug is very focused when you are interviewing him even in the Horna interview in which l think people get the wrong impression about him but I don't think he gives a f*ck who doesn't like him.
What l do know is that Horna Sargeist and Behexen are three of the greatest bands in Suomi. Along with Funeris Nocturnum,Satanic Warmaster, Musta Surma Azaghal Chamber of Unlight.

Verivala is awesome they are similar to Horna. Mikko Kotamäki is great vocalist no matter if he is singing with Swallow The Sun or Funeris Nocturnum. Hopefully one day Funeris will reform.
I saw you interviewed Archgoat will check that out later think it was from 2 years ago. You remind me of my cousin in -laws husband, Aki he is so straight forward with the way he asks questions hope you know what I mean.

I really don't understand why they wouldn't have the interviews in finnish seeing as it would be a better interview without the added difficulty of a language that some of these musicians are not very adept at. My guess is that people are still able to read subtitles? I get that they often interview foreign musicians so it makes sense to do these in english as well, but sometimes these conversations seem to really suffer because some of them can't really express themselves properly in english.

I really like shatraug ,he’s a man who doesn’t just idly talk about small things.I don’t really get the Satan thing but I do believe that it’s intrinsic to blackmetal.Blackmetal bands that are satanic definitely have a darker and edgier vibe and seem to portray rawer emotion.Just listening to these fellas it’s obvious they don’t pretend to be anything and are honest and true to themselves.There’s no better genre of music than blackmetal and interviews with artists like these proves the reason why.Brilliant interview as always .I just loved the blank looks on shatraug’s face when asked certain questions.Not sure if he struggled with English answers or simply lost interest sometimes like I often do just talking to people.Brilliant bloke though and brilliant band .
Thank you, SB, for your comment. I agree with your points. Even though I've known Shatraug since the late 90's sometimes I was puzzled too why he had this "face" you spoke about. Was it because of my question, because of his "lost in translation" moment or something else.
He seems like he’s on the outside looking in all the time and not really part of the conversation but when he does answer he gives a profound answer and you think ahh he was listening.Really interesting people ,that’s what I love about blackmetal.

Jerry, this is a joy to watch, especially see Ville and Markus (and also Tuomas) have such chill personalities. I however have to say that the questions are not as great as the Horna's interview, which seems to make Markus annoyed at some point :)) Also, it was great to know that Shatraug and Torog are still friends and nothing harsh happened between them, so there is still hope for a reunion or even a new band with the presence of these two legends. I wish Ville was talking more about his band *Mortualia* and Markus was talking more about his very interesting band *Famulus ab Satanas* which has not released anything for quite a while. In any case, these two interviews are among the best Black Metal interviews ever. Now, it is time to bug *Aegrus* for an interview man!

@@RautaMetal The questions are still great though not just as great as the other one. The fact making these interviews beyond amazing is that we can watch Shatraug talking in a video interview for the first and possibly last time (of course if you don't do another interview with them in a few years). I was not sure how he feels about being one of the greatest Black Metal icons and these interviews tells me that he doesn't give a shit about it and this makes him a much more interesting person to me and that he really believes in the true spirit of Black Metal. Man, I can talk about Shatraug for the whole f...ing day, so I just stop. BTW, *Sielunvihollinen* is another great target for an interview.
