Johnathan and Kelvin shared about them being more patient towards outsiders vs. their own spouses is real - the closer the person is to us, be it spouses, parents, siblings or children, the more we take them for granted. But when the other party feedback on their feelings, we need to take a step back, reflect, acknowledge, apologize and try to improve to make the relationship more loving.

I come from a broken family and have a stepmother, she always treat me better than her own kids (my sisters) which at some point I will feel different, and I don’t really like it. Sometimes I wish that she can treat me more equal and so my sisters would not feel there’s a boundary between us though, I even wish that she could ask me to help her do housework than asking my sisters, not just fully treating me like a princess. I agree with Jaylene because my mum is really like you 😅, she never talk bad about my own biological mother but my biological mom will always talk shit about her to my dad… I’m glad that I’m mature enough to think what is wrong and what is right cuz I’ve been living with my stepmom for almost half of my life, even more than my own biological mom

An extraordinary video. See Ryan so engrossed throughout the session. My take is that divorce is not a taboo but it should not be encouraged either. Both husband and wife have to do their part by their marriage (easier said than done). If really no choice, they have to do what is best for the children (even harder done than said).

  • @MrLolx2u
    @MrLolx2u 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

THAT actually happened to me. I also grew up in a broken family but it's not because my parents divorced but because my dad passed away just before I was born to an accident. So years later, my mum remarried and it was a mess and a half.
So my stepdad and my mum met when I was 1 and they dated for 8 years before they got married but that wasn't the issue. The issue already stemmed way before they got married. When I was about 3-8, my aunties would always “洗脑” me by saying all kinds of crap like "AIYA 那个 uncle 不是你真正的爸爸, 他不会对你好过我们对你的好!" and then keep shoving my dead dad's pictures in my face saying "你要记住这才是你爸爸啊! 你爸爸只有一个!" etc etc, every time I'm at my grandma's place, they'll psycho and talk shit about my stepdad.
Now I'm not saying that my stepdad is a good person because in retrospect, he's quite a scummy person who has no ideals on his own and easily manipulated but STILL, imagine telling a kid all that crap.
However, heng la.. I not easily psychoed cuz come on la... I never even seen my father once in my life but I seen this "怪叔叔“ for almost 9 years of my life before my mum and him got married so of course what you said against what I know is vastly different la but when I was still a kid, I sibeh pekchek one leh cuz they niam niam niam like broken recorder and you will be damn confused on what they're saying.
The point in their view is that they felt that my mum had "abandoned" their family way too quickly to have found another man to be with when my dad had just passed away for one year or less but they forgot to recognize that my mum was a single mother who also needed someone to support her and me despite making bank at that time herself. So in their eyes, my stepdad was an "evil person" and what better way to flip the script was to force their nephew to "disown" and discredit the "new boyfriend" but their plan of course pecah lobang la cuz this si ginnah (Me) kaypo, geykiang, confused go tell the mother everything then they all semua kena left, right, center. HAVEN'T END HOR!!!
My stepdad is a very respectful man despite being abit dense at times but when he visits my grandparents with my mum and I, he showed them the upmost respect and my grandparents also seemingly accepted him as, well, they already lost a son so why not have another godson? It's a win-win deal in the end but my aunties, those “三姑六婆” keep giving him sideeyes and shit that made him feel very unwelcoming there that he straight up chose not to go after like I was 6.
Not only that, the "Operation 洗脑“ NEVER stopped ok?! It was only until I was like 8yo that they kept up the antics and I jitao dulan shouted at 2 of them: "你们OK吗?! 你们一直拿同样的东西讲讲讲个不停!!! 我懂他是我爸爸, SO WHAT?! 人死可以复活吗?死了就死了咯!一直拿来讲做莫?! 你 buey sian I also hear until sian ah!!! Can stop ma?! xxx (my step dad's name) is taking care of me and mommy for so long liao then I don't call him daddy then what?! I don't care what you all say, he is my daddy and that's it.".
From that point on, they kept their mouths shut after my mum told my grandma who was asking "why xxx never come visit us liao woh?" and she literally ripped her 2 daughters both a pair of new ears. Once my mother married my stepdad, they also kept quiet as they can't do anything at that point on as if their own parents took my stepdad in, what fuck can they say? Scold their parents as 老糊涂 meh?!
Seriously, being a kid of a single parent that adds on the difficulty of having step parents are not easy, much worse when you got the extreme settings of "chochok relatives"

Just relax, keep doing what you're doing, stand firm in your beliefs and it'll be over and probably for the better.
Remember... You're with your children and your husband's children day in, day out, she isn't. Whatever you say holds more power than what that 八婆 says.

But as a person from a broken family, I'd just like to call out that part at 21:26 where she explained to her children that the other step children already very "ke lian" already and she doesn't want them to feel more "imbalanced" when her own children is in the exact same situation.

Just be patient and love all the children as best as you can. Being in a patchwork family is a lesson and challenge for both adults and children. Just move ahead and let go of whatever that has already happened in the past. Make the best of today and look forward always. God bless you and all at home.

This is a very sensitive issue for the kids. Just imagine if their bio mom were to vocalise her thoughts about her share of challenges and how she navigates around that, and having the kids eventually watching both their “mothers” sharing dirty laundry in public about their family matters, how much more pressure and confusion will this add to their mental health? As you already deem that they are in a stressful environment, I thought you should have been more considerate in revealing snippets of the stories. But then again, this is my opinion.

@@n62goo79i dont think we should be afraid and keep mum about things. My relationship with that woman doesnt matter; and as for my relationship with my stepkids, it wont change as Ive only shared things that they told me themselves.
I get your view but i think you are confused about my situation with yours! 😊

@@n62goo79its her actions that placed her in a “bad spot”, so to say. Me sharing what happened is not the cause of anything negative.
I emphasize it is IMPORTANT to share storied and not keep mum so people know such problem exists and not to make the same mistake.

@@jaylenehong you are so contradicting 😂 you yourself mention in the video that you don’t speak anything bad about her and yet now “sharing” is ok. Ask yourself what is it that you want to prove first? Throwing everything aside, as a viewer, I feel that all comments towards her are quite negative. That’s the reason why I commented. You don’t have to be too defensive, I am just saying what I feel as a viewer

I understand the bio mum stand. she just worry that her kids don't remember her as their original mum.
If you look at her stand she might be close minded but i believe every mum love her kids and of cause she don't wan her ex husband to be happy
maybe they end on a bad term if they end on a good term i believe all will wan the best for each other and their kids.
But i like the way you educate your step children, it make me tear when you said you neglected your own daughter because i have this thinking that if i find another partner which is not my child bio dad they wont love them as how their bio dad love the kids.
Which make me scare to make a move on divorce and look for a new partner.
don't worry im not one of her spy hahahhhaa just speaking my pov as i'm also a mum
what really hit me is what you say is true we are creating a fake family when the family is already broken.
As everyone don't really wishes to go through divorce and want to have a complete family so they try hard to keep the family together and they lost themself
I love your energy in self care which i can't do it
Every broken family either its because of the parent can't get along after having kids or the partner cheat there is lots of reason why it turn bad.
But of cause having a clean break without other interfere (3rd party) i think the partner still can get along in the end
like co-parenting so we need to understand everyone difficulty and pov

waiting for the part 2 when you invite the biological mom to share her views and we make judgement ourself.
Just a little unfair I believe mom cares about the children anyhow but one having the chance to share her thoughts and another doesnt.
