- Welcome to Motorizado for a new video about the United States Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft, conduct anti-submarine warfare operations at sea. During the flight the aircraft and its crew released sonar buoys to help locate, track and deter a simulated opposing submarine.

Before retiring from Boeing, I helped to build a few of the Wings for the P-8. The area of the Wing I worked on, was much more difficult to Assemble than a regular 737 Wing.

I flew in P-3C between 1985-90 as an acoustic operator. Lots on Soviet “on top “ time! It was a blast! Great memories. Deployed to Sig, Bermuda, Rota/Lajes and Keflavik. Actually was one of the first crews to transition from paper grams to digital.

Great video, no idle narrative and stupid music. I flew P-3's ( CP-140) for Canada in the 80's . Chased Soviet subs all over the North Atlantic.

The P-8A is nothing more than a transport aircraft until the acoustic operators say "contact"
They’re based in NAS Jax now that they’ve replaced the P-3. It’s so cool to see that big ole plane do touch and go’s all day. Miss the P-3 though.

I can't count the number of SUS we dropped. If I was lucky I was running the recorder. Next was dropping them, worst was at the aft observer window pickling splash. If the weather wasn't bad the job wasn't. But if it wasn't 8 to 10 hours on a 2 minute could turns could make your tummy not feel so good.

I have been an acoustic instructor on board P-3c Orion, I loved that very much. Did you guys ever dare to compete in a mission with P-3c?
I notice that the Tridents have quite a bit of TH-cam air time, TSOT. I was an IFT on CAC 8 back in the 80's

If landing gear is redesigned so that it can better structured and lift up and low down straight directly rather than folding design maybe better and tge wider wheel to reduce pressure during landing and add on pulsating laser for defense and wider wings ( maybe with one unit testbwith invert turbine underneath wing can slide out for long time hovering even without power)

The P8 is also equipped with air to air missiles. Imagine being shot down by an airliner that is driven by someone’s sister.
Since when? I've heard they pack Harpoons for Anti-ship, but I don't think those hardpoints are for anything other than that.
@@NorthForkFishermanthere was talk of equipping a2a missiles, but I'm not sure it actually ever went anywhere
@@Orbital_Inclination Totally a bad idea, IMHO. That airframe isn't designed for anything close to air-to-air missions. It's a stand-off weapon for missiles and torps. The most it should ever have to deal with is AA from the surface units it targets or the occasional sub.
@@NorthForkFisherman I think that's why the idea didn't get very far. Nimrod used to carry sidewinder for last ditch self-defence, but times have moved on since then.
@@Orbital_Inclination Exactly. I can think of some planner going, "Oh, they've got missiles? Let's send them....here" - and they get whacked because they're too close to a fighter sweep. These things have always been glorified trucks, packing heat. Stuffed with sensors and comms, but still trucks.
At 3:45, looks like he's dropping bombs on a target by hand, just like they used to do in WW1! I'm guessing that's VP-9 out of NAS Whidbey Island.

It's got to be a bit unnerving for subs crew to know that one of these birds is up there hunting for them.

Re the advert 🎉pataks veggie korma sauce, in was I died in the wool meat and vegetables guy I bought pataks sauce by mistake and im glad I did because it was a cracking good meal. The ruby Murray was very good but I’m starting to experiment with 3 nights a week is veggie night and the rest is a meat night. As an addition with the veggie curry I discovered that I love my curries with onion budgies and a great swadge of pilau rice , now onto the main video it’s becoming the norm with the DOD that they don’t always need a new airframe to fit all the new kit where with Boeing they’ve got a bare airframe and inside said airframe they can be free to go hog wild and I especially like the fact that for once they actually produced a product that was under budget, I would’ve never in my life thought it would happen soa well deserved bow from myself to those involved in all aspects of the plane from start to finish. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
