I'm getting angry because I don't "feel" where I should make the "tree" lighter or darker and why. But you voice and manner are really calming me down. You sound like a fantastic teacher and a very kind person ^^= Thank you so much! Subscribed and will recommend to friends)
Using reference might help with that. Either follow his shading or find a tree picture online and get the shading from there.
It all depends of where the light comes from.
If you're not using any reference it's up to you. Just make sure the lighting is coherent to the rest if there's any context, background, etc.-.

Thank you Shibasaki San for your tutorials about drawing and painting trees, published in 2017-2018, they helped me a lot. Besides your dynamic and assertive hand, I noticed that the brush you use, has a great influence in painting your style. The hair of it, being able to maintain a flat spread and behaving like a spring appears to me very important. Trying different brushes I finally found among my brushes, one that I normally don’t use, to achieve something that looks like a real fir tree, or a larch tree. I knew it was a good brush, but could never think of a way to use it before. Your style and videos are great inspiration for me, thanks again.

I just discovered your channel and I'm addicted to it. I'm trying to learn watercolor through youtube for a quite some time and I haven't found yet a person with the style of teaching that suits me. But, now I did. Your way of communicate is great and it's really helping me, I've already done one sketch inspired in one of your videos and I'm anxious to draw more.
