I love the way she seems that type of character who's more curious than afraid, having less fear than the recomended lol. Some people call it dumbness, but I loved so much the fact she was made like this, and the whole story too. The frames, the whole concept, the way she logically took the weapon to protect herself. Probably in this part they made clear that she wasn't dumb, was just exploring and trying to understand but should have done this a little bit more carefully. Awesome work, so happy I've found this. Congrats!
Thanks so much! Yeah, we wanted the moment where she gets the weapon to redeem her otherwise curious and unfortunate decisions. Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks again!
You're right and wrong, while she definitely was curious and fearful and responded naturally to how she thought, that doesn't nullify the absolute bafoonery she does. I'm not gonna act like because doing shit slowly and having a constant calm curious look on your face is natural for you isn't dumb.
This needs to be developed into a VR game. Search for photos and hold them up in the right place to reveal the next item or room you need to pass into.
I felt that way about this short film being made into a full-length film with the concept, but OH MAN you are SO right about it making a great video game, especially for VR.

No jump-scares - I liked it! SPOILERS!!! First and foremost, thank you for having her use the weapon! Any time shenanigans are happening, grab SOMETHING! Well done! Claims of her reactions being "unrealistic" are somewhat diminished when you remember that the first two photos swapped her cellphone for a jewelry box, and gave her a piece of wall art. Not exactly terrifying (drawing her into the mystery). After initially dismissing the weapon photo, she immediately retrieved it when it was appropriate. That's a huge win, for me. Plus, I liked that the monster was not the only threat. Ominous Photo stories have been done before, but this had a different vibe to me: more thought put into it (a better story), good editing, no jump-scares. Win, win, win. I liked it... :)
I really liked it. I liked that she was quiet throughout and just confused more than anything. That thing was creepy as hell. The only thing that I thought could’ve been different was that even though visually it looked cooler for her to hold up the pictures and then have it appear, I thought it would’ve been more realistic for her to look up, look down at the photo, and then look up again and see the box on her dresser. The holding up the photo thing reminds me of the TH-cam videos where they show you were X scene was filmed from a franchise IRL, like Avengers or Harry Potter or something like that, which is obviously a different tone. But I thought it was great - love the reflection at the end.

using the reflections in the picture frame on the floor was really creative especially in capturing what happened in the end and with the monster behind her
I felt her reactions were realistic, felt like she had curious disbelief. Normal people usually don't freak out when weirdness happens in the real world.
Finally you get a horror film where the main character learns quickly only to be defeated by her own stupidity. I first thought your an idiot than she started following the instructions. Loved this short. Great tension building throughout with a tight conclusion. I especially liked the showing of the dead body in the hallway through the photograph and the face in the dark closet/behind her. Nice work!
Victoria Fratz thanks so much! We’re a super small team and didn’t have much to work with so we tried to let the photos create some disturbing imagery we couldn’t actually shoot in motion. Glad you liked it, thanks again!
I liked this! To those that felt the character and/or actress didn't portray herself 'correctly': I felt the character did just fine, she reacted like many people would....with disbelief & a determination to find a RATIONAL explanation for what she was seeing. One question: What did it say on the back of that photograph at the end?? Why only show part of it, if its a plot-point?? But good work on this film...the dread was creeping & well-done!
As much as most people want to deny it, I think humans have a general sense of morbid curiosity. The same reason we know a car accident is undeniably horrible, but it’s grotesquely tempting to watch. We fear the unknown, yet er also feel the need to know as much as possible.
I admire the subtlety. It would have been really easy to have the thing behind her appear in a jump scare, complete with jarring sudden music, but the fact it was just there, silently getting closer, was much scarier.
Absolutely nailed that Fear of the Unknown element essential to the deeper levels of horror. You have a dark and brilliant mind, sir. Don't go changing.
This actually scared the f*** out of me. For real. 3, almost 3:30am, and this pops up on my news feed out of nowhere. It's been a while since I've seen a good horror short, and this one is actually amazing. Genuinely got to me. I've definetly gotta subscribe after seeing this! Amazing work!
My favorite things about this: 1. The "broad daylight horror" 2. You can actually see the monster at 3:02! 3. The choice not to show the corpse onscreen, only through her reactions and the photo. It really gets you thinking about photos and video and about how "real" it makes everything seem. It made me wonder, for a second, if my computer screen could somehow harness the power of the photos and transport the horror into my own room
I love the subtil moment at 05:27. Timing and sounddesign was just brilliant. Wise choice to set it at daylight. We did something similar but it was a bit to dark, so it heavily depented on the viewingdevice.
The reason why the closet Scene was so disturbing was because the suspense, giving us a feeling that there a 100% chance that there's going to be a jump scare, but we instead see the thing. Which catches' you off guard and then now your just focused on the creature.
5:24 I have to applaud you for freaking the hell out of me without, typical, accompaniment of a scary sound. As I'm sure you know, usually scary visuals are often made scarier with sudden sounds. But nope, not this one. This one sent shivers down my spine with visuals alone.
Its so lovely to know that these film makers get lots love from other people to who right lovely texts saying these short horror films are brilliant , because they are and its true , a lot of work goes in to making these films for us to watch on U. Tube. Xxxxxxxxxxxx
yeah i’m having to pause every so often after seeing that thing appear behind her. i’m having a hard time finishing. i don’t ever have a hard time watching a horror film but THIS. this got me. 10/10
The way that she is going along with everything kinda reminds me of other horror media protags that progress the plot forward due to being in a dreamlike state (such as the characters from Carnival of Souls, Silent Hill 4, Jacob's Ladder, and Session 9 to name a few). Makes me wonder if she was in some sort of possessed state or something…
I know it's a horror movie, but baby girl ain't asking the right questions here! That house and those pix would be on fire for the FD to come deal with!
This is actually a very brilliant idea, I'd LOVE to see something like this a lot longer with more in depth story to it. But the one thing that gets me is the last picture. She didn't look at the picture so how would she know there was a rope around her neck? I mean, the picture wasn't against the wall until she looked at it at the picture, the machete wasn't there until she looked at the picture and neither was the body. Again brilliant concept, definitely a different twist! 👏👍
She held the picture in front of her, therefore making it real. So when it became real, so did the rope. I would've just torn all the pictures instead of the jewelry box. Also, not touched the weapon without using my sleeves... in case the murder was real, couldn't be traced back to me.
@@lunangelique yes but she never looked at the picture. The machete wasn't on the floor until looked at the picture of the machete on the floor. She didn't look at the picture of the rope around her neck. That's the only part that confuses me.
@@LordRain1031 True that she looked at the picture, but, none of the objects appeared until after she held the picture up to the exact location of where it was supposed to be. If all it took was looking at the picture & then it appeared, then all the item's would have appeared the moment she looked at the pics before holding each one up to the intended location.
She didn’t see the backside I guess is what y’all are saying but where the words are under it in the corner is a symbol that looks like someone being hung so she kinda did see that.
I think it’s less she has to see the picture, and more they have to be held up in such a way they overlap the image in the picture, at which point they bring it to life. Her seeing them isn’t a requirement.
I have now watched only 2 shorts of yours and i have been pleasantly surprised both times. You do a good job visualizing and making the creepiness come to life. I am a fan now.
My mind is blown. This is the oerfect horror for me. Quick and very clever world building, no jumps ares which is very important to me. Just tension and waiting. I love it so much. Great work!
0:50 There was no logical reason for her to hold up the photo like this. No reason at all. And then, despite the girl being confused and freaked out about a box suddenly appearing, she decides to casually remove a necklace and put it on. Again, makes no sense at all. I could go on and on. There is so many things about this film that make absolutely zero sense at all. But I'll stop here.
I could've used a periodic "what the f***?!" when the random items were poppin' up in her room lolol. Good concept for a short horror though. I loved it! Thank you
@dylan, i've been binging your stuff for hours, watching and re-watching, bouncing around different years of your work. Absolutely in love. This is my kinda shit. So much fun to see how you've progressed. I really get the feeling that you truly love this, this is your passion, and you care about making these with your friends first and foremost. It comes across. I'm a musician, and feel that I am learning how to express as a musician through seeing how you express as a filmmaker... cross-disciplinary inspo, man.
OMG! This kept me holding my seat all the time. I love original ideas and this is one of the best! The only thing I'd change is the smiley face behind her, it made me giggle. But the timing, the sound design, even the acting was pretty awesome. Congrats! Definitely I'm subscribing.
To me: Very well directed and great camera work. The drama was in point. The Sounddesign supported the content... shot in one location... if I were a millionair I would higher u... great Job!
Wow that was really good!! The thing coming up behind her scared me to death!! Very interesting idea!!! I love the whole concept. First time on your channel but I’m definitely gonna binge watch now lol!
The concept of lining up a picture with the real world to make things appear is so cool. If you could control it and wasn’t being used evil, it’d be a great way to store your stuff. Hide your treasures.

I absolutely L O V E the story line! What a great idea! The picture/man/thing standing behind her was scary and creepy! I thought this was a great short video and I'd love to see more!
Sorry, this was so good that I have to write another comment. I have 5 questions...please answer if you know I am awfully terribly curious! 🙏🙏🙏 1: what was the significance of the over the shoulder gesture of the figure in the reflection @ 2:13? 2: The reflection @ 2:31 is holding up 3 fingers. Is that foreshadowing the entity taking the picture of her at the end? 3: what was the significance of her friends and dog in the pictures and in the decorations all over her room. 4: whose feet are those in the doorway and is it the same person cut up in the picture? 5: Did she commit suicide and end up in limbo tormenting herself? I absolutely loved it! 100/10 that's how good. Honestly the actress could have been a lot better but I'm not worried about that she got the point across.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the film! The reflection is meant to be the entity/creature taking the photograph of the painting (the hand gesture is it holding the camera and taking the photo). It photographs itself in the reflection so that when she makes the painting appear, it also conjures him because he’s in the reflection. The creepy photos arrive in a packet with photographs that she ordered of her friends and dogs, the normal photos don’t have specific significance. The feet belong to the cut up person. She does not mean to kill herself at the end. As she is holding up the strange symbol to inspect it, she unknowingly lines up herself with the noose and the creature who was in the reflection of the painting kills her with it. Hope that helps out!

She dodged a bullet there by tearing the pic that had that monster creeping up behind her
If she tore them all she would have also woodshed herself away in the process
@@humanitywasamistake5015 no, she would've destroyed that possibility
yeah i’m having to pause every so often after seeing that thing appear behind her. i’m having a hard time finishing. i don’t ever have a hard time watching a horror film but THIS. this got me.
I love love love your short movies!!! This remind me "the pretty thing"... One of my favourite short movies 🎥❤️thanks a lot for your work!!!
Wow, thanks so much :) Really glad you enjoyed both of them!
@@dylanclark you are very talented... I mean you can find a lot of short movies on you tube... But yours creeped me out! Regards from Italy🇮🇹
I lost it when she did it one by one… my anger issues could never 😭😭😭🤚🏽
The moment I found the weird pictures, i'm giving it back to anyone who gave me those
I liked that there was minimal use of sound. It made the ripping of the cards more impactful.
音で驚かしてこないから本格的に怖かった。これが本当のホラーだと思う。いやこんなに怖いのは初めてだ、参考作品として敬意を示すよ。
Best ever what I saw since 5 years. Brilliant idea with very low budget
This is a really unique film. Really good pacing, and spooky. Nice job!
Thanks so much!
I know it's a horror movie, but baby girl ain't asking the right questions here! That house and those pix would be on fire for the FD to come deal with!
Another amazing idea. Your are very talented, i could tell this probably took lots of brain work to fit all the pieces together
Thank you so much again :)! It actually did require lots of strange coordination haha.
Simple effects but AMAZING idea
Yes,very clever I enjoyed the plot
What happened to the man that was on the picture.
@@kassandramccoy9594 torn apart 😝
Every help submit this for spooky scary Sunday so this man gets featured
Pyrotexx thanks so much! It would be awesome to be featured there :)!
When that "thing" was behind her..., omg. It scared me a lot.
Good job! ^~^ Greetings from Spain
The frame suddenly appeard and she was like,
Who left it here [° ~ °]¿
My mind is blown. This is the oerfect horror for me. Quick and very clever world building, no jumps ares which is very important to me. Just tension and waiting. I love it so much. Great work!
Despite the weird script, Hannah did a great job here, as did the whole crew. Excellent concept, excellent direction and actor, just an odd script
I would argue that all speculative fiction including horror is “weird” to a certain extent.
I loved it! Thank you
As soon as the 1st box appeared out of nowhere I would have been GONE! lol
Really good. Almost dream like.lovdd the ending, she ripped a little too much! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me: *holds up first photo*
“Where the hell did my phone go?”
5:27 is when I got scared seeing that creepy guy behind her😱😱😱
Oh that's just my dad
Oh wow, he did a good job😁
FLIPPING BRILLIANT FROM BEGINNING TO END
Awesome Horror Film 🎞 👍 really like the visuals of what’s Behind The Frames of the pictures.
The lead was fantastic. Definitely a breath of fresh air.
To me:
Very well directed and great camera work. The drama was in point. The Sounddesign supported the content... shot in one location... if I were a millionair I would higher u... great Job!
Hire*
When she first saw the reflection of the creature behind her in the picture frame!! That was super tough to notice at first glance! That's perfect!
Wow that was really good!! The thing coming up behind her scared me to death!! Very interesting idea!!! I love the whole concept. First time on your channel but I’m definitely gonna binge watch now lol!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy some of the others too :)
The concept of lining up a picture with the real world to make things appear is so cool. If you could control it and wasn’t being used evil, it’d be a great way to store your stuff. Hide your treasures.
Like it a lot, love people trying out their new ideas!
When a spooky box materializes in my bedroom out of thin air, I know my instinct is to open it and wear whatevers inside, rather then getting out of the house!
i normally dont get scared but this one gave me the chills keep it up!
I've watched this one so many times... It's definitely one of my favorite. Right there with Lights Out and GoatWitch.
Score: great job!! 10/10

I'm never really scared but GOD.... I am legit on the edge
Bruh, who has that kind of poker face when things appear out of pictures.
Me - "UGH WHY CANT I SLEEP!!"
Also me during day :
Gotta love that "weird, but ok" reaction 🤣
Too awesome .. too creative .. i wish u could relate to a world wide horror movies
I absolutely L O V E the story line! What a great idea! The picture/man/thing standing behind her was scary and creepy! I thought this was a great short video and I'd love to see more!
That was amazing ! Very good job, keep up with the good work♡
Thank you so much! New stuff soon hopefully!
This short horror film is good one
I love how she never questioned anything. She just took it
Sorry, this was so good that I have to write another comment. I have 5 questions...please answer if you know I am awfully terribly curious! 🙏🙏🙏
1: what was the significance of the over the shoulder gesture of the figure in the reflection
@ 2:13?
@@dylanclark thank you so much. I live for creative original ideas. No matter their subject originality really impresses me. It's hard these days to come up with something all your own and you totally nailed it. If you ever want an extra brain of workable, original, creative content then I'm always available for that. As I said you impressed me and that's difficult in itself. Good job Dylan Clark aka "THE BOSS" 😉😉
Just absolutely amazing how the shots were done, scary effects, love it all. I definitely have to try something like this in a video i make. Great Job!
She literally started using the pictures as gadget😂
