Omg I'm so glad someone has finally video taped the Silver Eagles in action. I'm proud to say that I was a part of the 1986 - 1989 Silver Eagles. Im glad to see they're still bringing home the 1st place trophies every year. Once an Eagle always an Eagle. I'm wondering when they did away with M1s.
I feel like M1 garand Drill rifles are a lot easier to use. They are centered more towards the center, making it easier to spin. The Springfield model they have are weighed with the main weights in the butt of the rifle, making it unbalanced.
Now, this is what I call perfection, they literally did the cleanest group arm exhibition I have never seen before!. Wow it’s just satisfyingly flawless.
I became a drill team commander two years ago right before COVID. My freshman year there was no team except for one senior who was brigade staff, and nobody else was there. The year before him there was no team. Throughout COVID I bought my own drill rifle to practice and do whatever I could to learn, and now after my two and a half year journey working every day we have a full drill team that went to competition. Despite breaking both my wrists over COVID and having surgery to shorten my ulna and the screw protruding into my wrist locking against the bones in my hand and locking my range of motion so I could barely twist my wrist, was in a splint with no weight bearing activities until 4 days before comp, and 2 of my cadets leaving with no backups, we went to competition and did very well. Historically my school does horribly at drill, but since I've trained a full platoon, squad, two color guard teams, a drill team, and 4 individuals including myself this year alone, we've placed far higher than we ever have in decades. Watching these videos shows me the bar I want to set for myself and gets me through all the valleys and rough spots on my team. So far we have one cadet being actively abused by his parents, another deep in work, and another who split his upper lip open with a rifle and had to get stitches to patch a hole in his lip the day before comp, and a whole host of issues yet discovered. Every single one of my teams went through every hardship we possibly could have and yet we came out on top, and honestly I look forward to my next year, my final year of high school.
Hell yeah brother, love the no excuses attitude. I’m a drill team commander too, working hard to set my unit up for success this year and the years to follow. Do you plan on going into the military after graduation?
This isn’t wrong lol my commander isn’t a former but he is a former master sgt and man he is so competitive our trophy wall is 20 feet long, 2 shelves high and we ran out of room
This year, I became Drill Commander. It's also my last year in high school. I wish I could be as good as this. It would be cool if i could get my whole team to be like this. So much work and dedication was put into this. Props to those cadets. Great job!
Damn, his face, he looks like he had been through hell, regarding that he just had to do a Exhibition Drill phase, which would have made him very tired.
OUTSTANDING!!!! That's the most impressive, high cadence routine I've ever seen. This is a high school team!!! They make my college team look like kindergartners.
Great job guys... there where so many times while I was watching that I was amazed at how in sync you guys where. It was truly difficult to find even on instance where the squad was even a hair off. You truly moved as one throughout the entire performance and I can tell you trained hard and it showes. So long ago In high school I was my MCJROTC Drill team commander. We where a new program but I can recognize you young men are truly a cut above. Keep up the hard work gentlemen and I wish you much success in your compititions
Believe it or not but the routine is decades old just modified every year. A lot of it is based off of the kings guard in Hawaii. When I was on the Team we actually had the drill master of the kings guard (Donovan White) fly from Hawaii to Texas to coach us for a few days.
Armed exhibition teams change their cadence and pace several times in order for diversity and it gives even better scores. Its quite good looking, my schools taken states in Florida and we do similar things just not as complicated. This team is exceptional and does an amazing job for the AFJROTC
not long . they all have experience and have done these moves before. though they do practice 6 days a week and repeat this routine over and over for hours in order to perfect their movements
As a commander of my drill team im making this happen the last time we went to florida was in 2015 and as a senior and class of 2022 im making it happen again this year
Thank you for posting these Amazing young men...somehow it was recommended to me to view a Japanese walking drill program. Well, I can definitely breath a huge sigh 😔 of relief. Our military has most assuredly got our Beloved Country covered. This was incredible! I pray every night for our Military, Country and our President. 🙇🏻♀️🙏🏽🤔❤️🇺🇸🕊
As a new exhibition commander, I have a question to why their commander is within the squad and not commanding alongside them. Is that a choice to do so or is it based on something else? I am also viewing these competition videos to get an idea for our squad's routine.
I am the commander in this video, we organized this over a variation of components. My angle of attack on it was, a saber component looks beautiful as THE commander however it was my LAST performance at nationals and I couldn't give it up. Hope that quickly sums it up. Good luck to you and your team!
Daaaayamn!! I grew up in ROTC all through the early 80s I worked up to the brigade sergeant major for California. I was in ROTC from junior high all through high school and eventually went into the military. I became a group life coordinator at military academies and I’ve taught exhibition drill team and these guys are on their game!! I definitely could not even come close to competing with the accuracy of these gentlemen… excellent work!
The infinity arms is by far the most impressive part of this performance. Those rifles weigh around 8 pounds and not only that, imagine doing infinity arms with your non dominant hand like how they do it and the fact that they did all that while looking straight and not lose bearing is just incredible
Haha thank you! Just takes lots and lots of practice! We have great coaches as well to help us! - Silver eagle alumni (First element leader in this video) :)
@@jongarcia544 I know this is a late comment, but Air Force Nationals is in a few days now. It's going to be very interesting to compete with your former team! (Although we will likely get crushed by you guys, lol)
Great job , but all that banging of rifles on the floor eventually destroy both floor and rifle? how many if any of these guys ever reach high positions in the military ?
Maaaannn! John jay still beasts lol they were our competition even back on 02-03 era of Holmes phantoms. Sadly, I don’t think Holmes has that motivation anymore.

They are 8lbs Springfield 1903’s. When you practice as much as these guys it starts to feel like second nature to spin it with ease. (I don’t go to Jay but I am on a drill team in a Texas high school)
SirGimzALot there may be some members of the team that can spin at that speed but there is no way you can throw and catch an 8 pound rifle like he did at 6:39
I realize how impossible it seems but in reality it is far from it. It takes an unbelievable amount of practice and a whole lot of upper body strength; with both those things it is very possible.
Never in my life have I seen an Armed Drill Team with passion, dedication, and pride as much as these cadets do. Wow
Ticci Toby I think all the jrotc groups that are air force in San antiono Texas have a little more pride because they have an air force base there
Just wait for Caesar Rodney high school from Delaware in 2019...
Which JROTC? AJROTC?
My old AJROTC was 15 miles away from an army base
Jodizzy clearly you've never seen the marine Corps silent drill team
These guys just destroy our team every year, but we see it as motivation to be better. Great job to these guys.
same man
My JROTC Drill Team has won the national comp 2 or 3 times in a row
Silver Eagles
My drill team just started, and luckily I made it on The competition team lol

Mario ALvarez well they started using spring fields around the early 2000's and M1's are used for color guards now.
Mario ALvarez the 1903 Springfield’s are basic/ex rifles and m1’s are CG
Yes Mario Alvarez Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle.
They were actually disqualified that year for customized uniforms and air academy ranks. It was odd
