Economic sanctions on Russia will be fueling global inflation (given Russia is a key exporter of metals, oil and gas), and cutting global agricultural output (fertilizers). As it is a double-edged sword, it is a question of time and likewise a question of tolerance level before one side is forced to change course. For example, if the inflation level were to explode to double digits, is the West still in a position to tolerate it? One exceptional case of a country that has recently managed to receive international recognition of its independence without the consent of the authority from which it tried to break away is Kosovo. Kosovo is recognized by over half of the UN’s member countries, including the US, but is not recognized by the UN itself. It is also not recognized by Serbia, the country from which it broke away. Serbia has never granted permission to Kosovo to be independent, and still claims it as its territory. But because the US is the world’s most powerful country, with the world’s biggest economy and most powerful military force, it has effectively been able to decide whether or not a country gains independence. In addition, once the US recognizes a country’s independence, it often provides assistance and protection to that country, as is the case with Kosovo.
But Kosovo is small and inexpensive to support..... Ukraine has over 44 million and is rapidly becoming 3rd world between Russian artillery and American weapons.... There's no way the USA will support "Ucraine" forever. The Ucranians are screwed.

Some people compare the Russian invasion to Japan’s Pearl Harbor attack but it’s totally different. 1) The United States sanctioned severely Japan before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. To Japan, it was survival war. 2) Pearl Harbor was an military base. Japan never attacked any civilian facilities. Battle is between soldiers- not for women or children. That’s Samurai spirits. 3) The United States is the one who targeted civilians. In Tokyo & Osaka bombardment and Hiroshima & Nagasaki nukes, more than 300,000 innocent civilians were killed by the US. I’m not blaming the US. I just want to say that this Russian invasion and Pearl Harbor have totally different background.
On the surface it has more in common with the invasion of Iraq. The invasion of a sovereign country, without provocation, based on a pretext of lies, and without justification of self defense.
Dee Yanase, please study what the Japanese Imperial Army did to men, women, and children in China, in Manchuria, in the Phillipines, Korea, in Indonesia, and on countless other territories. Japan's treatment of civilians during WW2 often times was worse than what the Nazis did. Pacific rim nations still hate Japan for it to this day. Look up Unit 731 while you are at it. Japan was arguably the most evil country in WW2. Also, those sanctions were given to Japan in response to its invasion of China. Hard to call something a "war of survival" when it was started by your being an imperialist.
I very much doubt it, They knew that some sanctions would come. Alexander Hotz is wrong when he says "the first move was made by western governments when they targeted Russia's banking system." (2:06) The first move was made when the Russia government chose to invade their sovereign neighbor. But if we're going to talk about the business aspect, that's just it: geopolitical uncertainty is always an inherent risk in the market - and sometimes the market cuts a loss; accept that's never going to change. A lot of companies and their investors are going to lose most if not all their investments tied to Russia, but the fault lands squarely on President Putin. He started this war and if investors lose their investments and the economy suffers we need to look at the man who decided to launch this invasion in the first place - the single man whose ill-fated, poorly calculated, and totally unnecessary decision to attack Ukraine has led us to where we are now. But I'm also shocked that so many economists are so shocked. There is nothing shocking about this. Investment brings with it no guarantee of return and doing business in and with countries like Russia, autocratic regimes with long histories of political unpredictability, carries with it enormous risk - risk that can never be mitigated. If you don't have the stomach for that kind of financial risk you should have bought t-bonds and Swiss francs and stayed away from Rubles and the MOEX. Regimes like this are, no matter how hard they try, wholly incapable of providing a stable business environment for more than a couple decades. The folie de grandeur of a despot is almost always the inevitable end to autocratic regimes the world over and subsequently too the business interests dependent on them. No one should be shocked that doing business with Putin's Russia was a huge risk which, as it looks, won't be producing any returns on investment. But hey, c'est la guerre...

My guess is the West (particularly the USA) will be the first to founder as things drag on. My second guess is Russia is going to accelerate the assault on Ukraine.

One exceptional case of a country that has recently managed to receive international recognition of its independence without the consent of the authority from which it tried to break away is Kosovo. Let's no delay what this war is about Russia vs USA
But the US targeted civilian Japanese in one the most horrendous acts of war crimes and here they're know preaching about global peace and freedom.

You know what are the conditions to end war , its not a land grabbing war . Why did it happen? What were past conditions on both sides since when the negotiations been going on , who move away first from the table of talks?

@@citizen8279 Why bot! Sanctions will impact Russian economy but doesn't mean they'll experience famine.
I'd rather take on the effects higher prices for some time than to support the bombing of schools and hospitals in a free country. And I hope any person with a soul and a desire for liberty would do the same.
As a Ukrainian I say - God bless you!
Does that so-called free country burned people alive in the union trade house and shelling houses, schools, and hospitals in donbass for 8 years?
Too much financial information in one video. Good work. 👌👌👌
Baltic States are next do not make any mistakes. Putin is not going to stop at Ukraine.
I thought Western media said Russia was losing in Ukraine so how are they going to move forward west.?
Not Baltics, they are in NATO. Maybe Moldova or Georgia.
Lift the sanctions on medicine.
Russia will be affected by The usa and japanesw sanctions cuz their economies are strong and Russia depends a lot on them because of the dollar and technology from both countries.
The other sanctions will not be affected by Russia.
The sanctions imposed by Japan and US have little impact, Russia relies more on Europe and China
Then why Japan is experiencing Stagflation and inflation in US. A coin has two parts.

If Venezuela, Iran, or North Korean are any examples they'd rather suffer than give into US bullying. The American perspective is they're wrong when they think the US demand to fall in line is wrong.
By "fall in line" you mean stop invading another country, and violating international law. Russia will give in or be broken.
@@maryanchabursky9148 Are you talking about the US or Russia? Cause there were no WMDs in Iraq or Bin Laden in Afghanistan. But for some reason the US stayed in both for 10+ years. Isn't that called occupation and invasion? This entire conflict will be whataboutism in a decade as well if you want to argue previous US behavior has no merit on Russian aggression in Ukraine.
@@Fuzzle1985 russia and you helarious spinning of Russias imperialist invasion of Ukraine as "not falling in line". I know this is a hard concepts to grasp, but two seperate and even adversarial governments can be simultaneously bad. So when discussing Russias invasion of Ukraine, the bad things the USA has done is irrelevant.
@@maryanchabursky9148 Exactly my point. So it's moot when either side tries telling the other what to do is good or bad because at the end of the day both countries will make their own decisions. Moreover no one cares since people die in war zones daily but somehow the US is making this out to be the next Third Reich, which is utterly inaccurate and a wild accusation. Just as wild as Russia saying there are Neo-Nazis in Ukraine. Neither side has any real legitimacy to anything they do but says the other is the bad one.
@@Fuzzle1985 no, my point is that the USA us absolutely justified in it's criticism (also as a Ukrainian, and given Russias war crimes there are certinly strong parallels between modern day Russia and nazi Germany). The fact that the USA did bad things previously doesn't mean they can't criticize bad things now.
If you want to criticize both thats fine, but Ukraine is being discussed here. If when discussing USA invasion of Iraq someone kept bringing up all the bad things other countries criticizing the USA did, you would be justified in thinking that they were justifying the USA with "whataboutism".

Or they shouldn't have staged a color revolution in Ukraine, supported ultranationalist groups to overthrow the government in order to install a loyal government to the US. They shouldn't have aggressively expanded towards Russia's borders knowing full well that this would pose a threat to Russia's security. They wanted the war to begin, and now they want it to be as long as possible, to weaken Russia as much as possible. Build more sweet crude refineries in the U.S, Kick start fracking to drive down oil prices and our farmers will be more than happy to plant wheat, but with oil prices as high as they are and the uncertain future around elevated wheat prices farmers are reluctant to increase production, it's a gamble. Or subsidize them, that will be faster.
Atleast this is happening right before spring in the Nothern Hemesphere. The US has got to take into account the food prices and such and make sure that we can produce and add to the rest of the countries trying to grow food otherwise poor countries with have unintentional genocide due to hunger. I have a feeling though that we(the world) should be able to accomplish this as long as we are talking about it right now in the highest levels of government. This needs to be addressed.

Thanks to the sanctions of the wonderful European Union, one of the best bank in Hungary (Russian Sberbank) was expelled here, which only ended with the fact that, for example, companies could only transfer their money to their new bank with an extra expense. Furthermore, fertilizer production has come to a complete halt due to uncertainty in the supply of raw materials. The Hungarian government has banned the export of basic food and, as we know, a lot of food source material flows to the western countries, from Hungary so if there is food in Hungary, tie up your pants dear western citizens, because you will starve! But congratulate to your very clever west leaders for bringing back the Middle Ages pretty slowly. Not to mention, our government - luckly - was so clever that natural gas supply containers are are in the highest level, so the price and safety here in Hungary are far safer than it is in the west right now.
