I've been watching your videos for 3 days straight now while trying to finish each character ssf in hardcore. This is top notch content and I hope the list of videos never ends!
Love these! This is my favorite part of Diablo 2, the leveling and finding sick items and using all kinds of things that you never get to experience once you're farming 24/7 with a sorc/pally. Keep them coming!

This is probably my favorite video in the series. A full play through with Berserk is wild in HC. Also, the drops in this vid were just plain dumb lucky man. Finding Death Sash on a fresh melee char is insane. Bone Snap. Butchers Pupil. Eth merc wep. LoH. Wild drops for sure!
I will do some other stuff in between because I can't do only diablo 2 for the sake of my sanity. But there will be much much more of this I've got like 75 builds that I still want to do. Edit* unbending will PB is a great idea I hadn't even thought of that!
Oh I'll mix it up with other games so I don't burn out but I'm planning on keeping this going for years. I have 100's of requested runs at this point. There's so many requests that I need to colorcode them in an excel sheet just to separate them
Actually the barb is the safest build because of his battle orders, you will always have time to exit the game before you instantly get one shotted and lose your character in hardcore. The huge amount of life pool makes the barb the most long lasting hardcore character in my opinion.
Nice!! My self finding frenzy barb had that barb luck, too. Rixot keen gambling low level, another dropped by Bishbosh and both upped in nm, hawkmail used all the way to hell, high mf dual res boots, 2OS 3 BO white helm made into Lore, Bloodletter and Butcher’s, Lightsaber on Hell plains, obedience in eth partizan on might merc with another hawkmail and tal helm, and finally a Lawbringer. That Lawbringer is OP! 700%+ damage to undead and decrep completely obliterates physical imunes and undead in hell.
Lawbringer is so good. It's the weapon your aiming for on non-berserk barbs but it's actually pretty hard to get in ssf. Those are some sick drops. Gratz!

Another great video in the books! Do you keep the characters from these videos if you make it through? I'd love to see further progress on ssf gearing. Another video that I think would be pretty cool is a breakdown of the important runes and techniques for ssf. I've played this game for 20 years but only recently started ssf play. It's pretty fun and a big change of pace from online play.
Thank you. Yes, but I do start muling gear over. I could do a making of a SSF char for sure that sounds fun. Consider it added to the (quite backed up) queue. Yeah I've done online and stuff and while fun it's like a completely different game.
I've built a similar build and it's great. I find other builds safer and easier to clear but the joy of finding a new weapon is the best part. With other characters you're looking specifically for just a shield or javelins, but with a barb there's a wide variety of applicable gear!
@@thenuclearrabbit Absolutely. Barb is the only character I've used 4 respecs on in one play through for that exact reason. I found a really good maul and so I had to respec away from polearms. However, I suppose it's a decent incentive to earn respec tokens?
Always appreciate the humor in your vids. Can you talk a bit on the skill progression, especially in normal? How much did you put into howl, etc ? As a Barb I always struggle at Act 4-5 because you haven't found a decent weapon and your attack rating is shit. Any tips?
The skill progression is very feel along the way. If I need damage I'll pump mastery, if I need survivability I go into howl or bo harder. Act 4-5 I tend to use a blessed aim merc, mastery and some attack rating items. Charms, rings whatever, I also put a ton of amethysts in weapons like I did in the video it really adds up
Have you tried taunt and battle cry? I bet you would say "insane" but they both are amazing barb skills. Taunt is the opposite of howl and also disables range attackers, battle cry helps with low AR, especially on bosses.
I have used them before but my playing style has developed in a way where I don't regularly use them. I have been incorporating battle cry more in my more recent runs. I wouldn't say it's insane to use them haha. I know both are very good and it's a point of learning for me to incorporate them more
I get what your going for and that would be fun. But Whirlwind is like the least viable barb build. Actual everything is better than whirlwind. It is the coolest though
@@thenuclearrabbit only because they nerfed this shit out of the skill because of some crying pvp players since diablo is 99% pvm tho i don't know what the point is just look at the attack rating and scaling of the ww skill it is nonexistent my last barb was a fury barb on plugy mod that has had cleave damage as aoe socketed jewel so thats why i suggested it for normal diablo aswell melee is comically bad in d2 and to be honest the games balance is just horrible if you think of it
Does berserk just do more damage than frenzy? I have a frenzy barb which I think is better geared and I feel like I struggle much more than your zerker! What makes you so tanky with berserk compared to frenzy? Just the shield?
Berserk has more damage and it's also magic damage which ignores things like stone skin and physical resist. The tankyness comes with the dealing more damage. When you kill things faster there are less things hitting you. You also get to use howl to clear things 1 by 1 instead of just running in and hoping for the best
I'd watch you do a full playthrough. You should stream one. I like when you do the melee characters but I'd watch any character type. I promise I'll make a donation if you do a stream

There is something about solo self found characters that are melee that just keeps drawing me to Diablo my first playthrough was almost 20 years ago and with plugy I gave ssf another chance (bigger stash)
Same! I've basically been playing for 20 years straight. This game is like crack to me. The bigger stash is a massive upgrade for sure. I use all 4 tabs. I don't want to run out of stash space ever and worrying about it is not a thing I enjoy
I would like for it to spawn on rare armors mostly. I would redo crafting completely if I were to design the game. There are like 3 relevant crafting recipes that you are happy to use
I'm debating weather I should do a ssf run on zerker or frenzy barb. I got a half decked out conc boy(Highlords, grief, fort and 4 piece IK) but wanted to do a challenging playthrough untwinked
1-30 just do whatever you feel like. Fastest is double swing with tal-tal-tal / Ith-El-Eth flails. 30-60 just go bo/berserk/mastery depending on what you need. Stats I go for 60 strength, lots of vit and I go for a bit of dex to boost AR. But it's very gear dependant. My final goal is about 10k AR. I'm working on how to make a good guide for stuff like this. I'm getting a ton of questions like this.
@@thenuclearrabbit about the build that you indicate I did one following the maxroll but when I got lvl 31 and did the respect as the guide recommends it was my abyss, I didn't feel good with the scream build the problem I'm at the beginning of the 5th act and I thought in remaking the char, because my char is bad to play mana ends very quickly
You can put sapphires in your helm for mana. You can put points into energy. And you should be chugging mana pots every few seconds. If you can make it to cows or act 1 nm you can get a 4 socket weapon for your merc which can give you the insight runeword. Worst case you make it to the den in nightmare and respec again. Edit: I fill up my entire inventory with mana pots every time I leave town. You should be able to bring 25-30 pots with your belt filled up as well. That should keep you going for a bit Edit2: you should also try to get spirit swords. They will help you a lot
Both are very safe. The berserker is a bit more challenging because it's more item focuses (you need a weapon and stuff). The singer is a bit easier cause ypu just go double spirits and that will easily carry ypu through the game
Even with the butchers pupil the singer is easier. You have piles of hp and everything is stunned. Bossfights are very slow for a singer but it's an excellent first ssf build because you can just go double spirit stealth lore and it covers almost everything you need.
Either this or warcry. If you go just 1 level into berserk you can spec it together with frenzy. As well which is nice. I usually level with double swing and only pump damage skills till like end of nightmare. If you use like a black or a strength you can use that to hit like lvl 60/70 in nightmare. Oncr your ready just farm mephisto nightmare till you find a weapon. It'll never be fast but don't be afraid of going lower difficulty with higher player count. P8 baal isn't to hard and can get you lvl 50 with a bit of grinding, it gets better from there but it'll always start slow that's just how the build goes
It's been recommended to me a ton. I'll probably do a video of my first playthrough very soon because the game looks really sweet and the soundtrack is amazing.
I have so much hp nothing deals relevant damage anymore. At 2800 hp nothing can really kill you anymore. Other ways to do it are using howl or battle cry. A holy freeze merc also does wonders for survivability. Defense doesn't matter at all unless you get it to really high numbers
@@thenuclearrabbit Crushing blow on gear is % damage to hp on bosses. Auto attacking builds as in none magical skill builds get crushing blow same with ur merc. Winged Helm *guillaumes 's Face 35% goblin toe boots 25% = 60% alone. So when the battle first starts out you will do a lot of damage right away to them because of their massive hp. I almost have every build on d2 completed then ill upload it to my youtube channel and ill link u a hell baal fight showing u how fast crushing blow eliminates baal and elites.
Also for auto attack builds check out Angelic Amulet and rings combo to double and triple your attack rating if you're under 85-90% you will miss a lot and see that white dodge marker constantly.
Yeah leaper and leap attacker are both very fun and are on my list to do as well! People really don't know leap is one of the most broken skills in the game. I'm curious to try out leap attack with the new aoe as well

Unbending will phase blade is my preferred option for budget zerker, hope you keep up this series.

Angelic Amulet + ring = attack rating issue. make sure u add enough dex to compensate the rest comes from your lvl vs the enemy level.

It totally is and will work :) it's just not a synergy for berserk if I remember correctly

Berserk + howl Barbarian is good for hardcore, killing only Unique champions

I did this very same thing a few years back. I did finally succeed but being a hardcore self found barb is a challenge 🤣
It could be because I got super lucky with items this run but this went very smoothly. It was a very sweet run though for sure.

You can do 1 point into zerk and spec into frenzy, that way you get both

Yeah the barb is like 3 skills and 20 1 point wonders usually. Very enjoyable though haha
Won Diablo fight as lv29 barb by using TalTalTal bow.It does 225 poison dmg.Same with Mephisto.

Made a summon druid. Spirit sword Spirit shield. Lore helm. Got me pretty damn strong

playing barb as ssf start is painfull

Uhh yeah I get that. You just didn't specify where I didn't have CB. I mean I did most of this run with a Bonesnap that has 40% of it

Get a big weapon and chipped gems and reroll. That’s about it :)
I'm thinking dual spirit, but it always depends on what the game gives :)
