- Using the awesome power of Sharpie markers, learn how to personalize your regular coffee mug into something more personal in this DIY tutorial.
Speciality Ingredients used in this video:
• 24 pack Sharpie Markers: amzn.to/1tYZxxf
• Sharpie Poster Paint Markers: amzn.to/1tQmCkN
• White Coffee Mug: amzn.to/1w4I2v5
Bake your Sharpie Mug at 425 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 220 degrees Celsius) for 30 minutes. Make sure to place the mug in the oven as it is heating up!
Avoid using the color yellow, since the baking technique turns it into a tannish color.
The regular Sharpie markers and the Sharpie Paint Markers give a different texture when the finished baking. The Sharpie paint markers give a thicker texture compared to the regular markers.

Share your projects on instagram or twitter with the hashtag #GetCraftyCrafty. I always enjoy seeing these projects!!
If you've read this far into the description use the hashtag #CoffeeMonster in the description and tell me how you guys enjoy your coffee or coffee infused treat. I usually take my coffee black, sometimes with a little bit of raw sugar, depending on the morning. My favorite all time place to go for coffee is #Philz coffee in San Francisco. If you're ever there you have to try the Iced Mint Mojito coffee (don't worry it's alcohol free).
Side note, are you guys enjoying the different chalk art pieces on the wall every week? I'm having fun drawing them out every week. What else should I draw on the wall? Do you have a chalk wall at home? what do you guys like to draw? - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Your artwork on the chalk board is really BLOWING MY MIND!!!! xD
Yvette Lloyd Thank you!! I try my best to draw something interesting for each project!
Another way to get the sharpie off the mug if its dry is hand sanitizer, I know, really random and weird 😂 But it works!!
For those of us who can draw or have pretty penmanship, this is a good gift idea! I think I'll have my nephew draw on one and give it to his mom for her birthday. :D
taeriefale that sounds like a great gift idea!! Let me know how the project turns out!!
Two sharpie-coated mugs were baking in Get Crafty Crafty's oven.
One said, "Ouch, its so hot and dry in here".
The other said, " OMG! ITS A TALKING MUG! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?"
Samantha Berne hahaha good one 😂
you said the vietnamese form correctly. Good job!😃👍

hailey matz Thank you!! I'll do my best to make video for as long as I can =D

love these vids!
Cheyenne Britt thank you!!
VERY cool video :) !!!!!
awesome video cheers
love your channel!!! My kids loved the slime. Your recipe is by far one of the bests! What do you think about using oil based sharpie markers? I've read that it might wash better. I'd really appreciate your advice!
Aishya476 Thank you!! I'm so glad the goo project turned out great!! After trying this project out with different sharpies I found the poster paint markers work just as well as the oil based ones. If you have either one they work better compared to the regular markers.
Hey! So when using paint markers, is it the same process? The specific pen I have says to cure for 8 hrs before baking. What do you usually do?
Thank you so much 😊 im definitely gonna go make a steven universe mug!
Hi i
Breybrey Troy Thank you for the awesome compliments and checking out the channel!!
OMG NO PROBLEM THX SOO MUCH FOR REPLYING OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can i use 200°c to bake the cup for about 30-35 min?? will it work?
Do u do the chalk art cuz its so pretty *^-^*
Lps Ruby yes I do =D
might be an odd question to ask, but theres no ikea around me so where can i buy white coffee mugs? I want the simplest things n run down the street to my local walmart n they dont have em so I doubt they will have a white mug.lol. thx for a great video and i loved the way u explained everything and had closed captions on here. very helpful.
Tracy Chester He gave a link in the description, from which you can order a white coffee mug online.
Tracy Chester you can get it in sainsburys if you have it in America but there is tescos too =D
Hello man nice video! :)
Alejandro Islas Thank you!!
What temp do u put in the oven if u have a Celsius degrees oven (that came out wrong oh well)
Lol i wish you was my teacher you are so awesome
lanti gashi aww thank you!!
Gokd sharpie works best because its oil based... use the sharpie oil based paint markers in a variety of colors they wont loose vibrancy
Can u use a glass cup too
Have you considered showing us how to make Duct Tape wallets? 10/10 would appreciate. Keep up the good work! (:
Nehilism I actually already made a DIY video for duct tape wallets a few months back. Check it out @ How to Make: Duct Tape Wallets!!
If you wait too long and the sharpie dries I think you can use acohole to wipe it off sorry might of spelled acohole wrong lol but I think that will work:)
Cristina Munoa I've heard that works! I haven't tried it
Get Crafty Crafty Acetone finger nail polish remover works great, but be sure to wipe the surface off with warm water before trying to reapply. That's what worked out best for me anyhow 😊
Will the sharpie come off if it is put in the dishwasher?
Where did you get that youtube red coffee cup?? I want one!
Just look it up
Are you Filipino. BTW I love your channel
Qahwa = قهوة
And thats in arabic
Fun project thx for the video
Marwan Abdulwahab thank you for watching!!
does it specifically need a sharpie or can i use any paint marker?
You need to use oil based paint markers!!!!!!!.or porcelain paint markers. Not regular sharpies. No exceptions.
Ooh yeh
Hi, any idea how to stay sharpie permanently w/ no bake? Thanks!
No..No such thing. Oil based markers only!!!!!!! Baked. Find my review
Hi! I don't live in America so sharpies aren't familiar in our country. So can I use another parmanent pen?
MINNIE KIM I'm not familiar with foreign brand of permanent markers. If you use an oil based permanent marker you should be fine.
Get Crafty Crafty Thankyou so much!! Like your videos!:)
I live in the Middle East so they don't sell sharpies either and today I came across dem but there mini and there where only 8 colors 😓 HEY ATLEAST THATS BETTER THEN NOTHING!
Oil based paint markers!!!!!!!
So, I tried it, but then when I took my mug out of the oven, some of the paint seemed to evaporate a bit. Is that because I need to let it dry more?
You need to use oil based markers. Go back and find my review
Kape would be tagalog right?? ( I should know-_-) Cool mug btw :D
Nice
ayman felaifel thank you!!
Would a Dollar tree mug work for this?
Intresting, lol
Omar Mondragon very interesting!! haha
Hi can you do a diy iphone case?
Can you use a microwave?
Does it have to be a sharpie or can it be any permanent marker?
Oil based markers any brand
Oil based only !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paint markers.
This is a Great tutorial... You have great presence... and good voice, and handsome too... but the background music was interfering with your tutorial, and sometimes it was hard to understand you....

lanti gashi congrats!! The video counts and comments counts are never accurate since TH-cam is still verifying the views. The goo with out borax video is actually a future video, keep an eye out for it =D
Can i use a normal permanent marker to draw on a mug?
No
Try and mAke lucozade please I really Need it
Lachlan Toddy I'm not really sure what that is?
Look it up
is there any alternative instead of baked it?
clear nail polish (may chip)
Won’t it explode and shatter in the oven?
30 mins after the preheat or including the preheat?
Including preheat..I'm sorry but this guy gave the absolutely worst tutorial on this subject. Its maddening.
Can you make DIY clay
Is it 425celcius or ferenhite?
MINNIE KIM 425 degrees Fahrenheit translates to roughly 220 degrees Celsius
Instead of putting my cup in the oven , can I just go over the sharpie in clear nail polish?
well i geuss you can but the nail polish may chip
Francesca Early. If you use clear nail polish it might come out a little runny. It will be obvious that it's nail polish and it might chip over time.
ok thanks for the reply Get Crafty Crafty
Francesca Early. =D
=D
420 degrees Celsius or farenheit?
I woder if I can use this method with my cricut mug😏😏!
Do you speak any dialects of the Philippines or just Tagalog?
TheAbinator2 I only understand Tagalog. I cant say I can speak any of the other dialects
Lucozade
Why do I have to put the mug in the oven it's seramic glass it would bust
It's hat makes the marker stay, you are supposed to put it in the oven before you preheat it
+Nikki B. lol dont u mean heat you said hat lol
+Jane Clermont yeah sorry, I meant heat... just a typo
+Nikki B. lol thats is okay i get that with my phone alot its a glitch thanks for yours tips ands responding back

Oh my God!!!! Why didn't he tell you ,you must use sharpie oil based markers or porcelain markers..This has been tried and proven a thousand times!. Regular sharpie marker will disappear right in the oven or scrub off immediately in first washing..This is a fact!!!!!..Please people do not go through all this time and effort using regular sharpie markers. Good gosh man, why didnt you tell people this..And use rubbing alcohol or acetone to completely clean the mug. Do not under any circumstances touch the mug with your fingers where you intend to paint. Depending on humidity, like a humid summer day, you must allow paint marker to fully cure. You're doing this on a very non porous surface..Let it cure !!!!!!!!! for a day !!. Dont just ram it into an oven.. Or in high humidity place in oven or open door oven at not over 100 degrees to help cure..Don't rush or force curing until ready to bake..I cant believe I'm having to review this when the right way to do it is on Google a hundred times. Ps. Some paint markers are dubbed non toxic/pseudo water based, even that gold paint marker... It must say oil based!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..oil based paint is a science. Baking paint with oil base is a science. Oil bakes things in a dummified way..Water based with certain thinning components do not work.. There's more that you can easily figure out on your own now..Yes they can hold up to dishwashers, but get used to hand washing gently. Without the very hot water of a dishwasher..The sudden heating/cooling/ expansion..And do not preheat oven.
Not sure if you'll ever see my reply but, thank you for posting the info the OP left out of his video.
