    Roger said in an interview he used power pads in the beginning to save the string but with the new grommets nowadays they’re not needed but he kept using them as he had always used them.
    He also said he doesn’t use a Vibration dampener as he kept losing them so in the end thought I cant be bothered with them so just got used to hitting without one, he said at first the ping of the gut was distracting but eventually got used to it.

    I remember seeing a photo of Federer’s rackets that were customized. They each had a different amount of lead tape to get them to the required speck. Maybe you should weigh the racket with all the parts but before the lead tape and bumper guard are on the racket. Then you can cut the correct amount of lead tape.

    I have six RF’s, two of the first gen. Mine are loaded to 363 gms static weight, fully strung with 5 gms lead tape on the butt cap, string-a-lings, and a string dampener. Balance is about 31.5 cm. One 2nd gen is out spec, weighs 373 gms with the 5 gm butt tape. The 2nd gen seems faster through the air, first gen is a little more lively, but doesn’t hit as hard.

    You could have measured unstrung specs of your RF97 before adding lead (wilson QC is bad). What I would have done was deduct a gm of lead from the ones you added in the hoop ( it should arrive close to 346 SW) Then add a couple gms to the handle to achive the balance and static weight.
    Anyways I have a pair of rf97 and had to add 6 gms on the hoop of one of the frames to match the spec ( balance and swing weight) of the other one.

    HI Harry, i think the problem with SW was because Roger string main´s always 1,5Kg more than crosses. (you can see that here 25:32 written on throat) and that´s why Roger´s head look´s more rounded.

    Thank you for the nice work and very interesting video. I replicated everything except the weight adjustment, this frame is heavy enough as it is for me ;) . By the way, I think you actually placed the very first elastocross in the 4x3 position instead of the 4x4...

  • @thehandseesall
    @thehandseesall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI, the more overlap you have is the less ridge-like you feel, the least amount of overlap is the more ridges you'll feel... nothing wrong with the first leather grip you applied, just the way you applied it.
    Also, if you want to wrap the leather like Federer's, you'll need to start the leather grip in the middle of the longest part of the butt cap as opposed to the edge of the bevel, then apply the overgrip the same way on the opposite side and use the minimal amount of tension when applying the overgrip or it will stretch and warp.

  • @quiddy
    @quiddy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel like you need an additional rotation at the butt cap to have give enough flare for secured grip before you start the diagonal wrapping

    may I ask sir if what is the DT of roger's string setup, I wanna compare it with full bed of poly. Naturally a full bed of polly is stiffer but correct me if im wrong, nat gut on main and poly cross maybe soften the bed of the setup... I want to try it on my ps classic that i bought for 1,500 pesos about 30$ (I dont have that money to buy dream PSRFA :/ racket )so that maybe I can experience my idol's racket... so yeah, tysm!

    In other video when he opened Roger's racket, weight was 364.5, SW= 345, balance 315 mm . In this video weight 365.5 , SW= 346, Balance=315. SW and balance almost same but weight is off by 1 gram. Machine is not perfect so there is always slight variation. Not trying to pick on tiny things, just my observation for those who truly want to match their RF97 to Roger's specs.

    • @z1az285
      @z1az285 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I recall seeing the previous video and also based on tennis nerds post who has one of his black frames, Rogers specs were 366 grams , same strung balance and 340 SW. No mention of lead tape but I'm sure there was some in the handle. It was from a heavier batch with a custom mold and red silicone (no trapdoor, just the end of the handle) and the buttcap was definitely more rounded like this one. The black retail has a plastic buttcap

    I think if you add 2 grams of lead to the bottom of the handle will get you closer to Roger's specs without having to open up the butt cap and adding silicone.
    Static weight will match, balance point and SW will get pretty darn close also, to where final numbers comparatively would be negligible between the two sticks

    Very cool video man! Thanks for sharing this! Over the power pads, shouldn’t the raw side touch the strings? I think the smooth side could cause more friction. The raw could let the strings slide better. I’ve never used them. 25.5 kilos for the mains and 25 kilos for the crosses?

  • @edge7799

    Fed's racquet is custom made and custom handle.His P1 tech only adds about 8g of 1/4 inch lead tape under the bumper gard.He as 3 power pads under is 6 middle mains and string savers.

      MartinC10, Tennisnerd posted the same specs based on one racquet he purchased (black version 11 I think). But I have no reason to doubt the 345 SW of this frame. Clearly it's something Roger was adjusting over 2015-2017.

    I agree with the author of the video (name please?) that the racquet companies should offer the very same racquets that the pros play with, but may be as a special order so that they don't get saddled with a bunch of extra inventory? From my personal experience, I know that a bunch of folks bought multiple RF97As when the racquet first came out and I think that I am the only one (out of 10-12 folks) that is still using this frame!!!

      Roger prob used earlier in his career as junior to make strings last (plus his idol pete used) and he used to sound and feel they made...and pros never change their setup unless have to

    Put 2.5-grams lead/silicon in trap door! It will be sorted( 366 grams balance 315mm. S/W 350) Roger's actual specs. I have done this for to my RF's for over 3 years.

    4:08. When you cut all the crosses at once, all mains tension is applied to the frame, with no counterpart. I think that is no good for the frame.

      You guys are arguing about litterally nothing. The hard truth about the tennis racquet industry is that theres no "rf97" there's only what specific racket each of you have. One could be 357g 31.5cm 335sw and "swings nicely" the other could be 360g 32.4cm 340sw and doesnt swing as nicely. Your argument makes no sense. Measure your stuff

      Its not my “ imagination” little man...
      I played with both of them with the same stringbed and tension ( champion choice on both )
      and v11 black plays different. ( paint on v11 has little impact, swing weight etc etc )
      Difference is not big ... but its there...
      If you can not feel it, than its your mental issue...
      Imagination is something else... learn basics
