This worked good for my 2017 Chevy Malibu Premier! Took like 40mins to do, wish it was a faster process!!!! I had one transmitter and 2 cut keys. Just bought a transmitter from ebay for about $35, did this process and worked like a charm. Will need to reprogram new and your old key! If not the auto theft deterrent system message will pop up.

Worked for my 2018 Chevy Malibu LT only thing is when I only did the one new key fob afterwards the service theft deterrent system message came up and the light on so it took me a little bit to go back through but this time I did both my new and old key fob and the message and light went off 👍👍

Followed the directions for a 2021 Chevy Malibu. Everything works as shown except that after programming the 1st remote, a message appears that it's ready for Remote 2. It will not allow you to reprogram the same remote, and if you don't have another remote, you will need to press the start stop button for 12 seconds again to exit the programming mode.

Funny thing is, it then asked for a 3rd remote, so the newer model cars are equipped to program more remotes. I figured it out man. You're a life saver. One last question and I'll be done. I wasn't able to find the spare key. I ordered a brand new one and did these steps. When/if I find the key, can I do the process all over again? Like will the same key work being programmed twice?

This will work on a 2019, however on a 2019 you have to program at least two keys during the procedure. The remote needs to match your vehicles options, the remote start fob will only work if your vehicle is set-up for remote start.

Some vehicle only show the message for a few seconds right when the door is opened. You might try just continuing with the procedure on just go off of the time.

If i only have a 4 button remote but bought a 5 button one will this work? Or do i need the dealership to add anything?
The remote needs to match the vehicles options. If you bought a remote with remote start then the dealership would need to add remote start in order for it to work.

If I lost my remote but still have the actual key, the one you pull out, will this still work? I was going to order a remote that comes with an uncut key but I still have my cut key and was going to just put my cut key in the new fob. Any ideas if it will work? I see that's a Cadillac. Yes, you can use the emergency key out of an old remote. The transmitter pocket may look a bit different depending on the year of your Malibu. On most years, you can find this procedure listed in your owners manual under the keys section and it shows a small picture of the transmitter pocket
I figured it out man. You're a life saver. One last question and I'll be done. I wasn't able to find the spare key. I ordered a brand new one and did these steps. When/if I find the key, can I do the process all over again? Like will the same key work being programmed twice?
This procedure erases all previous remotes but if you ever find the spare again you can re-program it. You can use this procedure to program multiple remotes or, depending on the year of your Malibu, there may be a shorter procedure you can use to add remotes if you already have one working one. I had a 2019 Traverse that I traded for a 2017 Malibu. The Malibu had only 1 fob so we kept 1 of the Traverse key fobs hoping to reprogram it. I can get the original fob to program with this process but it doesn’t seem to work on the Traverse fob as a 2nd one. Are they compatible?
These fobs lock to a vehicle once they are programmed and have to be flashed by someone with the correct equipment before they can be used again

This will work on a 2019, however on a 2019 you have to program at least two keys during the procedure. The remote needs to match your vehicles options, the remote start fob will only work if your vehicle is set-up for remote start.

My key fob went out I replaced the battery as well and still won’t work for my car I haven’t tried this though does it work the same way ?
Your key fob should not need to be re-programmed after replacing the battery so you may have other issues

When performence the steps, my original keyfob was deleted from memory and the new key doesn't programmed and the process still show pendent. When i open the door with my emergency key the message appear on dasboard "add remote 1" and put new remote in transmitter pocket and press star/ stop nothing happen. If the vehicle shows ready for "remote 1" but does not respond to the remote - there may be an issue with the remote you are trying to use. I would try programming the original remote as Remote 1 to determine that.

Some vehicle only show the message for a few seconds right when the door is opened. You might try just continuing with the procedure on just go off of the time.
