Lover grey pants (I think they're worth another try. Maybe store them and come back to them later. Take them out a touch if possible), ALC belted pants (not a fan of the belt, but the fit/shape is great), Doen black pants (but in the right fit), Tibi red pants (even though they are single pleat, the drape of them is so flattering), COS beige pants.

Yes, it’s very helpful. And very timely. Just this weekend my area of the new climate finally rolled from 90 degree days to cool fall weather. It’s an ideal time to turn over the seasonal wardrobe and, in so doing, reassess what’s coming in and what is being boxed up…and WHY. And it’s an ideal time to pass along things which no longer serve the overall aesthetic. Observing the whole ‘try on’ process was a great reminder to be brutally honest about how each piece looks and feels NOW. Watching this masterclass in wardrobe curation helped to give me confidence to cull and the vocabulary to explain (to myself) what gets to stay and which items have reached their fashion expiration date. Thank you, thank you! ❤

Remember that submerging wool in water will make it more likely to shrink and change shape! I hang my formal wool trousers out in the wind (and rain) for a bit and dry them flat, and they always feel rly refreshed afterwards. Idk if it's technically right, growing up in Denmark I was just taught to do that with wool 🙈

    • @perryh.-r.4419
      @perryh.-r.4419 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

It depends a lot on the temperature of the water, whether you use detergent (and what kind), and how much you agitate it while submerged! I've heard of airing out clothes and linens (I definitely do that to reduce the amount of washes necessary) but I've never heard of putting it out in the rain. That's interesting, and I might try it sometime with one of my older sweaters to see how it works on knits.

@@rosej9686I don‘t feel like the original commenter was trying to be helpful to Hannah‘s case, though 😅 Dying a garment can be a good idea if the alternative is to buy more of the same thing in a different color and potentially throwing away something that has not been used to the end of its life, which is clearly not the situation that Hannah is in. I feel like Hannah can decide that for herself, though 😊

This is so refreshing to see. We are the same age (within a month), similar height (I’m 5’11” and I’m guessing you are tall) and looks like we are a similar size in clothing. I’m also a mom of 2. I know exactly what it is like to pull out clothing after a pregnancy and really notice the changes in my body. I’ve gone through versions of this so many times in the past few years. I know I’m not alone in my experiences with clothes and a changing body but it’s comforting to see another person talk about it and normalize it. Truly thank you 🙏

I really enjoyed this, and I feel like you are so brave to expose your wardrobe in this way - not just the beautiful things, but also the old worn out things, and honestly showing the numbers. Also loved seeing your hands as you talked. Gorgeous.

Of course I love the more formal wide legged pants on you. My favorites were the grey ones from Lilly silk. I also loved the shortish casual cream colored ones just before the jeans. The ones that you need to wear at the hips. Such an amazingly cool profile, and the airiness of the fit looks stunning to me. I totally get the Oska issue. I have the same thing. I actually ordered a pricey chin-to-ankle wool dress with 25% yak to satisfy my need for being sheathed in warmth. I would keep the Oska pants. I love the quality and cuts of that brand, and having something not too precious would be good with a child who will soon be more on the move.
I sometimes mend holes in a star pattern, which can (CAN!) be a good solution.
Thanks for your bravery and honesty in actually pulling out all of your pants. I personally have shame around even showing a girlfriend how many pieces I have, resulting from different phases of life and body changes. So this video has done me good. I think you made great choices too. ❤

Hannah, this video was an absolute delight and entertaining piece of work to watch. I know you have your reservations about continuing in this format but in my opinion as a viewer it was perfectly executed, and included everything needed to satisfy us watching and gain a deeper devotion to your spectacle. You've said you feel overwhelmed at execution not being as clear cut in culling as you find yourself lingering on certain items, and on the if and how they'll fit into your future as body and function are in flux, but please know that a wardrobe cull is never going to be one and done, regardless of how devoted and clear minded you go in !
Wardrobe culling is always going to be an ongoing process, please don't let that in itself overwhelm you enough to not pursue the rest of your jungle of clothing in this manner (~:
Edit : keep the oska pants ! all signs talk to future regret ! they look so darling on and the shape and cut is perfection

Hi Hannah. When you talked about your feelings of embarrassment mid-video, my heart warmed in sympathy. There are so many times when I have cringed at the evidence that I am not closely following the advice I give myself and others. I am such a big sister-ish type of person, such a Marcy! Totally understand the post pregnancy body “re-settling”; I had a baby in 2022 and 2023 (12 months apart) and I’ve been very surprised at how similar to my “original” body I have gotten now that my second baby is 10 months old. Like you said in the video, my shape has changed in some ways, but I have been pleasantly surprised that my overall size has settled to being very similar pre-pregnancy. There are a few pants I got rid of post baby #1 that I truly think would never have fit me again (23” waist). However, I passed along a couple pairs of sweatpants that (perhaps) would now fit again! So there is absolutely no hurry to declutter items that might still be in limbo. Love your videos!

I did this with some of my baby/childhood clothes. I didn't want to keep them so I cut scraps from reach and place them into a ball ornament that hands on my Christmas tree. I can reminisce once a yr but not taking up so much space

Oof. Trousers are difficult emotionally. I applaud you❤
As a sewist and fiber crafter and nerd, unless something has serious internal structuring you can probably machine wash it. Check for delicate attachments (buttons usually). I wash all my dry-clean only items by placing them in a delicates bag then using cold wash minimal agitation cycle. Air dry, and any reshaping is easy to do by lying them flat and pushing the fabric how you want into drying position.

I was so excited to watch this, and have been since you announced it then I saw a few seconds of the intro and was suddenly hit with “look at her figure after only a year of post-partumhood, it’s been more than 18 months since you had your baby and you don’t look anywhere near as good”. Comparison is the thief of joy. Gosh the way our bodies change (the extent and the speed) is so hard, and the social projections of what we “should be” so deeply embedded. I will watch with courage as I know there is always value in what you choose to share and it is always done with care and consideration. ❤

Well done on the declutter. I love watching people downsize. I expect that there will be a round 2 once you have been through everything. I own 8 pairs of trousers and bottoms, and it still feels like too many! I look forward to seeing the next round of decluttering. Nice work.

I chose more than 5 for Joe because I just had to. I, like you, had a difficult time narrowing them down. Fun video! Thanks! 😘

Your white/cream dress pants are gorgeous. I would never get rid of them. You have room to let out pleats and adjust the waistband. If in a few months they are still not fitting properly I would have them altered. There is the value of quality.
And your, dare I say ugly, leggings are a definite “let go”. As for “dry clean only”, it’s work but hand washing natural fibers in cold water (with shampoo and a conditioner rinse if you want to reduce scratchiness) is usually safe for the fabric and safer for your skin. Dry flat then press using steam and a pressing cloth or when fully dry steam.

Here at age 53, pants are really challenging due to body changes, working from home more, and an overwhelming desire for comfort. I'm finally getting back into jeans after a long break, and experimenting with a new silhouette for me: wide-leg pants. I've been a slim-fit and cigarette leg girl forever. But I've found some amazing pants in structured jersey fabric from local NZ brand Kowtow (their Drape pants if you're interested), and some silk/satin pants from an AU brand called Seed. I decluttered at least 15 pairs of skinny jeans that 2019 Jody loved. Age and stage, all good.

As soon as I saw the Oska pants, I loved them. I love that charcoal grey, and the material looks so comfortable. I am surprised you kept them because they are grey but they are so to my taste. Obviously, they may not be pants you wear out much, but they may still be great for around the house. I have a pair of sweats with a hole that I need to mend around the butt. Like an inch and a half from the waist line. They're a light grey, which is not normally my favorite, but the sweats are just so comfortable and warm that I love them. Even though I have a 2nd pair, I still can't bring myself to part with them. So I don't blame you for keeping them.
Also, even with me trying to be more minimalistic I own a ridiculous amount of pants so. I can relate.

Love these videos💞 it all makes sense, you’ve gone through lots of transitions, just as you say - pack stuff away for later . Don’t totally declutter anything you love. Question I ask myself is … do I want to wear this? If not but I love it - I store it away. Because, I buy something later and think, I wish I would’ve kept that piece… it would work perfectly with this one … even though I haven’t worn this past summer… esp for hard to replace items😊

Hi, Hannah! Please give yourself the time. Your body will be changing from time to time. My cousin made her own little invention after her pregnancies: She had a button and a rubber band connected to it to make the trousers wider. She could still do a half-tuck and it was much more comfy.

Some clothes teach us what works, and some teach us what doesn’t. I think this is from Marie Kondo. This concept has helped me when decluttering previously.

Something I hear a lot of fashion loving new moms talk about is having a mom uniform. Basically it's just a version of a minimal or capsule wardrobe made from basic, no fuss clothes that you don't really have to think about putting together an outfit & can just throw on & look/feel pulled together & presentable & appropriately dressed for whatever your day may require. Sounds like that is what you're aspiring to?
