19:20 - one small but salient detail: a flat nut on a radiused fretboard is going to cause some tuning and intonation bugs. Looks like you used metal nuts? A standard plastic blank can be radiused using the same radius block you used to do the fretboard. Other than that little quibble, these are a 9.995 out of 10! The materials, the colors, the TRADITION (most people have no idea that this was a huge guitar manufacturing process for years!). I love it all, man! Superb work on those DIY bridges, too!

14:14 Hey what have you used for this pickguard? I tried to search for the material used on the original Danelectros guitars, but I couldn't find anything. On TH-cam I've seen a video of a "replica" build, where the builder used masonite for the pickguard as well. I'm pretty curious about this
Hi. My pick guards on these builds was a 3mm plywood. I wasn’t going for exact replica in my two. Not seen masonite thinner than 5mm in my neck of the woods - but it would work well - though give it a protective clear coat of something just for longevity. Thanks for dropping by & good luck!
@@mel_163 cant recall brand offhand, but both colour tins of spray were hardware store type, a couple of coats, we sanded down a little, left longer to dry and then water based satin clear poly finish.
I cant recall now if im honest. Possible I used for base sanding coat followed by grey over - i may have used whatever I had at home. However- if asked I would say use grey for all light colours.
Yeah, new strings and sub par playing attempt! (and a bit more time on bridge setup) Vinyl stripe would have been more original/traditional - thought they don’t have the best track record of staying permanent. Really I just wanted to try an idea though. Thanks for watching!
@@MikeHawkeyIt’s cool, thank you for replying. Great job on both the guitars and the video. I’m happy to hear that you’re busy, because you do fantastic work.

Genius how you imitated the side tape. Will never come off!
Thanks! I think it worked out alright - did a good job of covering up any ply grain too.
Can you please tell me what type of paint you used for the edges ie was it latex or rubberised or whatever thanks for the great videos
I am very impressed with these builds. Some really cool technics employed here. Good work.

Another awesome video. Love seeing your builds come to life.

Those are both so gorgeous. Incredible. 🤩

OMGoodness...these are fantastic. Thanks for the video.

This is really cool. I have the plans for a Dano, but I got some good tips from watching you.
Thanks. Good luck on your build!
Great work! I'm planning a Dano style build myself soon, something more like the convertible.
Nice, sounds fun!
this was awesome! i love what you've done! amazing job, lad! amazing!
Thanks!
I really liked the bed liner idea instead of regular edge banding.
Thanks. I thought it had a good texture with no potential future lifting issues like the originals.

Beautifully done!
Thanks!
Great Channel. Great builds. What more could you want? Thanks for your work.

FANTASTIC!
Thanks
Excellent video featuring superb craftsmanship! As I don't have the skill to construct one, my next purchase will be a Dano, probably a '59...
Thank you! - sounds like a nice next purchase - enjoy when you find it!

Have you tried ebonising the fretboard? It would fit the part for sure :)

Where can I find pdf plans for this model? 🙏🏻
I couldn't find any online myself. So I made my own. Based on photos, so visually close: www.dropbox.com/s/tw19enofm15mk5c/DEP%20PLAN.pdf?dl=0

Where did you got the blueprint of the guitar ? Or did you made it ?

@@MikeHawkey thank you. That's exactly the kind of a tip I was looking for as I have no previous experience of finishing a guitar
Haha the intonation sounds a bit off at the end there and perhaps you should have used a vinyl strip for the white sides but all in all great job.

Can I buy one of these from you?
Hi there. Sorry one went to a new owner and the other stuck with me, but thank you for the interest!
Where do I find plans
Hi. Have a scroll through the comments. I linked my basic ones there in a reply to someone.
I wanna do this but I want it to be a bass
Nice. Very doable, id add a couple of reinforcement lines in the internal framing and go ‘normal’(not slim) body width.
Could I pay you to build a custom Dano Pro clone for me?
Hi, sorry - though I’d love to do so I just don’t have time to commit to jobs for anyone currently.

clever way to fake the Tolex binding !!
Not quite the same, but it wont be lifting any time soon either!
They look great but sound like cold dump.
Like ‘cold dump’ or ‘a cold dump’?. To be fair, they sound better in the hands of someone who can play (and once setup…). Thanks for stopping by!
tune it!
Yes!
Not a fan of the scarf joint. Still very inspirational.
Thanks! Not had one go on me on a build yet, but can be a weak area if unlucky/too narrow/poorly joined.
Many many construction and adjustment errors.
