  • Ok, If I have this figured right off of the picture the Lord gave me. This should be a double layer condensing system. It should function just like a "Condensing Hive" just doubled up for my Higher Humidity Cold Rainy Winter. Let me know what ya think Albee? Input is welcome, thanks for stopping by Blessed Days...

Although the insulation is at a lower level and higher level in the hive the hole in the middle I think would negate any condensation happening at the lower level. I would think you would want all the insulation in the uppermost location so it does the most insulating and condensation would be dealth with at that level. Most likely your condensation will be on the sides in the rabbets where the frames rest since it is the thinnest there. The feeder shim setup you have also lets them access food anywhere in the hive in case that cluster moves to the front of the box, the back or side to side. I think cutting more holes in the lower insulation may make it less effective for what you are trying to do. It may be worth trying some both ways to see how they compare in your area. Those are just my thoughts but I think you'll probably have success either way with how well you have built your bees up and the structures you have made for them. Thanks for sharing DC.
