Hi Hector, You have the BEST QBO videos ever. You give so much detail and while some of it could be minor, as they say, "The devil is in the details." I have been trying for hours, so many that I could probably count the hours in days, trying to get my balance sheet to balance by Class. Yours is the ONLY video to say that this is incredibly difficult to do, and one should only do it by Business. I was wracking my brain until I found your video. Thank you for all of your GREAT content.
Hector, this is brilliant. I've been wishing for this exact Custom Summary report forever. AND I figured out how why it doesn't show up in all accounts. You have to sign in as an accountant. It's only available when you see "Accountant Tools" at the top. So I invited myself to be my own official "accountant" and now I can see it (as long as I'm signed in as the accountant, not the regular user). Thanks so much!
Thank you for showing us the "Custom Summary" report. I love you can use display rows and columns for locations which is a great way for me to Show my locations in the columns while keeping the services in the rows = Income Statement.
Hi Hector, thank you for a great video! It's really helpful. However, I am having trouble categorizing sales. I need to prepare a report based on the sales channel. Can I create and categorize it by Store? I don't have the 'Classes' option in my QuickBooks. Also, is it possible to assign a class to not specified transactions related to bank deposits for sales?
Thanks for the AWESOME content! Question - a twist on the example you gave at approximately 32:50 in the video. What if there is one owner with 2 LLCs and he wants to track the P&L for each company but the finances (bank accounts, etc) ARE separate. Will this mess up the year end data when it's time to do taxes?
Tags may be less rigorous than say, location tracking,. because it does not have a "Not Assigned" catch-basin to add rigor to the tagging process; its more "directional" like for a Marketing Promotions, allowing tags attached to invoices for example
Hi Hector! Thank you for your great work👏🏼! I watch your videos and use tips a lot ☺️ I have a quick question: is it possible to import data from excel into qbo categorized into classes, tags and localizations?
Thank you for an excellent video! When I used the link for the Custom Summary Report in QuickBooks Online Advanced, it just "spins" and nothing comes up. Is there an updated link?
Hi Hector - love your videos! I'm having an issue with inventory with respect to classes. Client has one common inventory. THey track sales by register and have created two classes for that. However, on the P&L, it does not show the sold inventory by any class (other than the class initially assigned to that inventory item). What is the best way to get a P&L by class (or location) if using a common inventory?
I am having issues keeping my inventory accurate because we get large orders from our factory, and those orders will have stock, as well as items for multiple customers, some of which are invoiced before we actually get them because they are going through a finance company. I ask here because I thought adding locations to the purchase orders might help keep things separate in our system?
Hi Hector! Thank you so much for your helpful videos. I am in the process of figuring out if moving to the online version is the way to go for our firm (after being on desktop for 15 years. We have 100's of reports built and I'm wondering if the reporting feature is as robust in QBOAdvanced. Can you import these reports or do I have to start from scratch to build new reports?
No.. custom reports do not transfer over. There is a reporting tool that is pretty powerful, its similar (and in some slim cases better than Desktop) but not as “robust” as Desktop
I can filter by class. can i then print out all attachments uploaded to QBO associated with the class? ( I can individually go in and do this, but would like to do it quicker)
Hey Hector - the custom summary link for non-accountants to use no longer works (it just continously shows a QB loading screen). Are you aware if there is a new link that works?
Great video. Thank you! Would I be able to get QBO Plus, but then if it turns out I need more than the 40 combined classes/locations, I can upgrade to QBO Advanced without losing any data? That is, will everything transfer over properly? Thank you.
@@HectorGarciaCPA Thank you Hector. My client is asking for it and I've been searching on how to do it but can't find one. Do you think using the Location feature can help?
If Florida is a Location, Class, or Tag… then you use the instructions in this video. If its just the state in the address, there is no good report for that now

Balance Sheet by Location is better

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it

Tags are more flexible, but no balance sheet by tag
Can you have multiple classes on each item on an invoice? For example Department, attorney and office?
One per line item
Great webinar! Is there a way to run a trial balance by class or other segment?
No
11.14.20 Nice video. Thanks for taking the time. Now I will have to experiment with this Custom Summary report. Thanks again.
Hi ... very useful information ... one quick questian ... i can't find the 'tag" in online plus ?, did quick book removed it ?
If you are in the US; you are supposed to have that feature. Outside US i don’t think
Hi Hector!
Thank you for your great work👏🏼!
I watch your videos and use tips a lot ☺️
I have a quick question: is it possible to import data from excel into qbo categorized into classes, tags and localizations?
When is Intuit going to add a label for "Fund" in QBO Location tracking?
No idea if thats even in the plans
This is sooooooooooo helpful. Thank you!!!!!
Great. thanks!
It looks like locations are now able to be used on line item entry. Did this feature get added after this video was recorded?
Thank you for an excellent video! When I used the link for the Custom Summary Report in QuickBooks Online Advanced, it just "spins" and nothing comes up. Is there an updated link?
They removed the report:(
@@HectorGarciaCPA Thank you so much!
This is great, thank you! Is there a way to run reports by Zip Code? Thank you again!
Not currently with PLUS, maybe in QBO advanced
What slides are you referring to for getting the Custom Summary Report?
Thanks
Link on Description
That is a very helpful video. I am still trying figure out if Classes wise Trial Balance Report can be developed as custom report?
No Trial Balance by class
@@HectorGarciaCPA Thanks for clarifying
Really appreciated this video, and your way of presenting. Thank you so much!
Glad you liked it

The classes need to be in the invoices where the inventory items where sold.
If you dont use inventory items, it wont work.

I am not sure how to answer this…
Locations is not for separating inventory
Thank you for explaining so well. This was very helpful!
Awesome

you da man. this is just what i needed.
Hey Hector - the custom summary link for non-accountants to use no longer works (it just continously shows a QB loading screen). Are you aware if there is a new link that works?
Is the same link.. they just removed access in some accounts :(
Links not working with some files still!

Yes, seamlessly
Can you use tags, classes and locations in the budget?
Budgets by class yes. Not by tag
Excellent video! Can you run a balance sheet by class...or only by location?
as it's said in the video, yes you can, but it's not recommendable due to unbalance report
Hi @Hector. May I know how I can generate Sales by States?
That report doesn’t exisit
@@HectorGarciaCPA Thank you Hector. My client is asking for it and I've been searching on how to do it but can't find one. Do you think using the Location feature can help?
@@haru_1997 location feature can help but you need to set it up and reclassify all the historical transactions to get the report you want.
I don’t have tags in qbo plus version! Where can look for it?
Are you in USA?
@@HectorGarciaCPA UAE
@@funcity3998 I think this is a US only feature
Do you have a link for Canadians? looks like this is for American (US)
Sorry.. only US :(
Reclassify balance sheet location
You need to change all the transactions’ locations for that
Hi! Does QBO still support divisions?
“locations” is the feature for Divisions
Outstanding. Even the QBO customer service line couldn’t tell me that.
How can I tell how many sales I made in Florida this year
