      Long live the green beads. At this rate it may well be the winter beach that we are looking to fish with all these rigs.

    Hey Chris , hope ye are all keeping well in Kerry . Informative vid.was fishing the coast here in Texas, catfish and sea trout mostly. Not a patch on cod or even pollock to eat.

      Really? I am fascinated with the shore fishing in the USA I always wonder if the style of fishing here would translate across the pond successfully. Some of the tactics there seem very outdated here specially trace wise.

  • @kevinbuckler1085
    @kevinbuckler1085 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was short and sweet,and very informative. Now I must be missing something,I've always had this,now misplaced vision,that Ireland was mainly big fish and baits ?

    • @Inshore_Angler
      @Inshore_Angler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is certainly big fish and big baits still going on here but in the competitions nationally and internationally there is a measure system so you have to be able to catch big numbers of small fish too in order to compete. The small fish generally put up a good fight too and if your using a really night set up they give a great account of themselves

      @@thekid8562 ya I'm struggling with the lack of fishing but that's only a small worry compared to a lot of families out there facing down the virus.

    What is the purpose of a pop up bead? Does it keep the hook off the bottom or is it just an attracter?
    Cheers

    • @Inshore_Angler
      @Inshore_Angler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the size of the pop up it can be both. Larger 15mm pop ups I would use to float the bait to the lenght of the hooklenght (3 to 4ft) to search for bass garfish mackerel and scad. Smaller 7mm ones will mostly be used for movement of the bait for hunting fish such as turbot and flounders that are attracted to movement

      They certainly do on benone, Waterfoot and East strand. I would say ask any match angler but they don't always give away the secrets lol

      Chris O'Sullivan, The Inshore Angler aye there very hush hush up here 😂 I fish mainly east coast like waterfoot cushendun etc all around there I’m busting to get out . I’m running out of tackle with so much rig making lol

    • @Inshore_Angler
      @Inshore_Angler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kingofrs125 I feel your pain on that one I'm sick of trace making already. Even started to clean the shed lol. Anywhere with a run of sea trout too they love the extra movement. I've never fished cushendun myself but I've fished Waterfoot a lot of times it's crazy how many flounders are on it at times.

      Chris O'Sullivan, The Inshore Angler caught a cracker of a seatrout the weekend before lockdown about 55cm say close to 4lb fat aswell of tyrella beach beside dundrum bay near Newcastle .will give yellow a go yeah waterfoot is a gd spot for flatties if there wasn’t a lockdown would be targeting plaice at the moment around there and if lucky enough few rays. Would like to see spring run of cod aswell we don’t seem to get winter cod up here lol they arrive in spring into summer lol U should do a video of ur rod n reels set ups

    Good video Chris! You're looking good mate! Can you let me know what brand that bait elastic you were using t'other day is? It looked like it was some sort of dispenser, which would keep it clean & tangle-free! Thanks mate - stay safe. ;-)
