Years ago, I had a VW Polo with 1.6i engine and had the exact same symptoms. Stuttering, jerking engine light. After replacing injectors, ignition coil pack etc, they found the metal sleeves that sit on the base of the ignition wires where they connect to the spark plugs were short circuiting the plugs somehow. The test was pulling the chrome sleeves off the ignition wires and voilà, no more issues. I left it like that and it never happened again. I know your car has what looks like actual electrical plugs that connect to the spark plugs, but my guess is, that's where the problems are coming from. Worth a try.
Gašper Prijon American cars have their problems, even Japanese from time to time. The difference is that when maintenance and repairs are needed, the costs is no where near German-made cars. But enjoy what you want. That's why we all have choices in regards to automobiles.
Hi Brandon, My name is Elizabeth and I live in San Diego, California. I purchased a Golf in May, 2016. At 4,200 miles my fuel injector broke. I have not had a properly working engine ever since. This has been going on for nearly one month now. I am dealing with VW corporate. I also owned a 2004 Golf which had 175,000 miles on it. Great car! I hope we BOTH have luck with the buy back!!!
jaiizwaii89 owned a Lexus is250 it was problematic! Check engine light, VSC malfunction and reduced power melting interior TSBs, recalls! Lexus has gone downhill for quality. They see they can't compete with Mercedes Benz and BMW with high quality materials and keep their price points far below the German rivals so they put cheap materials to keep costs down! Plus you always feel as though you are driving a corolla- IS series, Camry-ES series, Avalon for GS and LS series etc. Lexus lacks charisma character and charm! I see plenty Benzes with million plus miles still going strong!
Wow that really sucks. I bought a 2017 base golf from the same dealership as yours just two weeks ago. Only 250 Km's but I really hope I don't get the same problems. Thanks for updating us and letting us all know about all the issues you've been having. Good luck with the buyback if it comes to that.
"My injectors were replaced, all four of them" The EA888 series engines have eight injectors; four direct injectors and four manifold multipoint injectors FYI
PT111111 thats because they are only average quality now. VW spend so much time bigging up the brand and telling people with their slick ads how good they are when in reality their cars are pretty (not in my opinion, tediously predictable more like) but average. Any Mazda, Kia, Honda or Hyundai will run rings around a new VW for reliability, and real world engineering. But their dealers and corporations aren't assholes. But no, people are slaves to the whole 'VW badge' thing. Lol
RichieRouge206 You're right....VW finally ended that sickening "German Engineering" phrase from their ads. I think they used it for at least 20 yrs. They need to learn about Quality Improvement from the Japanese.
I once conversed with my Euro car mechanic and a tow truck driver. The mechanic was saying how much he loves French cars. The tow truck driver said his #1 most towed car is the VW Golf, with the record being 6 Golfs in a day.
I've owned 2 x NEW Golf's and I bought a NEW Audi S3 earlier this year... I also bought a NEW Toyota 86 when they came out... Total number of problems with the VW's and Audi = 0... Toyota 86 - 3 x Warranty claims, sold it because the paint started falling off... So in my experience, Japanese cars have been less reliable for me.
We have a 2013 Jetta and we've had nothing but smooth sailing. Regular Oil changes, tire rotations and air filter changes are the only things we've done. Nothing mechanical as of yet haha, but if something were to happen we're still covered under warranty
If u dont take care of the jetta ofc u are gonna have problems read owners manual and do more research for jetta i had 2008 jetta still have it almost 300,000 km and it runs perfectly
GamingFlash TM 2008 is a completely different animal sir, those are the good ones. These bigger problems started with the Gen6 models, mine was serviced by dealer every 3 months/5000km, it was my first car, I babied that thing. Yet I still had transmission issues (dry clutch dsg shuddering, strange humming sounds), engine misfire (coil packs 1.4tsi) front passenger door was harder to shut than all the others (misalignment from factory) and the straw that broke my back, was a piston developed a hole in it so engine had to be replaced, thankfully all that was taken care of during the 2 year warranty, I got rid of it at the end. 2 months after that the guy I sold it to said he had to deal with the shuddering transmission again. I dunno maybe my car was just a dud and I had really bad luck, but never again will I buy VW, maybe an Audi even though it's the same company but no more straight VW for me.
my "daily driver" b16a swapped civic redlines at 8200rpm. I had 6 laps on a circuit 2hrs 30min away from my home. and no problems at all. new cars suck too many problems
Nothing wrong with VWs. My VW is nearing 190k miles and it's been a pretty painless ownership. As for this new Golf R, there's another channel with a guy with a Golf R and his has been doing very well. Shit, there are guys on the forums that have been trouble free. All brands have lemons, Hondas break, Toyotas break, Chevys break, Fords break, and of course VWs break.. But this is a new car that I don't believe was assembled right
VWs have a good 7 times the chances to have engine problems compared to honda and 3 times compared to toyota. www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/9815860/German-cars-lose-out-in-reliability-survey.html
BalorGr Hondatech Toyota has been using the same boring NA engine forever..Honda finally added turbos, so we'll see where that ends up as time goes by...Interestingly, they've have a recall on their 2.0s...Most VWs have a turbo, so that adds a little bit more complexity, but mines has been great. VW did have an NA engine, aka, the 2.0L and that thing was rock solid and could easily rival Toyota. However, the 2.0 was deemed boring like the Toyota, and thus was discontinued. Also, your list is skewed. You got Land Rover, and Fiat as the top most reliable cars..lmao. I personally hate consumer report and all that shit, but they got Audi as a top reliable brand. Also worth mentioning is that Chevy didn't make it on your list..Do you know how fucking reliable those LS engines are? WAYYYY more than anything Ford puts out. That list is garbage and irrelevant.
Greenest Dreamer Oh..reliable like Fords exploding ecoboost? Chevy's are good cars. Volkswagens aren't a nightmare to fix. They're not much fucking different to any new car.
Heartagram 190k miles, you have old car, that's why it is more reliable. The problem is, that people who buy Golf R, aren't a kind of people who will cry about the problems, usually they have the money.
Heartagram old VWs are far better than new ones. These sorts of faults shouldn't be happening as much as they do around the globe. New injectors at such a young age is inexcusible. Period.
I'm so sorry to hear you going through this man you def have a lemon good Sir not one person that owns these cars has the issues you are having actually it's unheard of. My Golf R is stage 1 APR intake turbo inlet muffler delete and full Race tuned AWE exhaust. The dealer and corporate need to make it right or the customer meaning you bro and somehow work magic together to get you a new GOLF R also give you free oil changes for the life or the car or something close to that. This is beyond ridiculous. On the fourth visit I would have already had a new Golf R. I understand they are doing everything they can but their is still more to be done. Good luck and hope the best works out for you please find a way to get rid of that lemon at all costs. Maybe even try a different color lol. Stay up bruh ! 1 love #GolfRLife #MK7APR
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm so amazed at some of these comments of people understanding and sympathizing with me it means lots. My Golf R is currently in the shop again. It's been there nearly a week this time. If I get it back and it's still not fixed, I am taking action for a new R in Lapiz Blue. :)
Brandon Friesen I dealt with VW Canada and they were generally reasonable if a little bureaucratic. I don't know the limit in Alberta but if they won't give you 'goodwill' to your satisfaction, e.g. a replacement car, you can take them to small claims court for damages up to $25k here in Québec. You can tell them that with any money you win you intend to take full-page ads in the Herald and BC papers telling your story if you want to truly play hardball.
Brandon Friesen yesssir that's what color I have its a great color just take care of it with only hand washes and appropriate detailing and waxing on a quarterly basis ! good luck brotha keep us posted #100
Miguel Toscano Figueira actually that's where you are wrong dude VW Golf R is High quality built machine that your petty ass prob can't even afford lmao so before you say something stupid just take a seat and go drive your Honda lol .. This guy just had bad luck got one of em lemons .. SMH
Sorry to hear man. Hopefully, everything works out for you. I bought my first VW back in 2006 (new, Passat 2.0T). It has been nothing but problems with it. I have had Air Conditioner problems from the first year, along with other problems. I find myself spending around 3K a year at the dealership fixing issues. Never buying a VW car, ever again.
I would never buy a vw and recommend to my friends stay away from vw I got a Toyota 2000 with 250k and never had a check engine light Get an old Toyota
Sorry to hear about the problems with your Golf. I personally love VW, My family owned many Jettas, Polos, Passats and A4s in Europe and drove them with only basic oil/brake maintenance for generations. Once I came to Canada, I started hearing a lot of bad reputation about VW in North America. Maybe it's not VW, but the low quality/inspection Mexican plant where most of these North American units are being built at?
yeah, I guess when VW traveled across the Atlantic, they left their reputation behind. VW has a great reputation through Europe to Asia. Somehow, things just don't work out well in North America.
Chris lightning Well, I think all the European car generally less reliable when you compare them with Japanese counterparts. My Tiguan works well so far. Finger crossed though.
Sorry for your pain. I've worked for 2 VW dealer service departments and owned 4 VW's myself. If I based my VW experience on my first one, I should have never owned the next 3 of them lol. Due to the increased reliability issues as years went by, we've been with Asian cars since 2008 and I can't look back. Sure these cars are more "luxurious" and have better "driving feel", but when you get older like me lol, "luxury" changes meaning. Reliability is a "luxury" I'm willing to trade a few touchy feely things for. With only 130,000 combined miles on my last 2 VWs, I saw: 2 fuel pump failures, thermostat, coolant temp sensors, suspension, window regulators, oil consumption, on and on.. With a combines 225,000+ miles on our Asian cars since 2008, besides routine maintenance, I've replaced a driver's exterior door handle and an inner tie rod. Not bashing VW. Believe me I thought long and hard about a Golf R when I went car shopping earlier this year but just couldn't bring myself to it. I know from experience that ANY car is a crap shoot, even those from supposed pillars of reliability. Some are just less likely to have these kinds of issues.
Nothing is free. They do pay less for it though. Canada negotiates with pharmaceutical companies for reasonable pricing. In the USA they gouge us with government backing.
Why oh why, do bad things happen to good people? So sorry you're going through this nightmare. I wish you the best and hope you find a satisfactory resolution.
Fernando Kreutz I'm sure he is using premium because he would have to, switching suppliers is a good idea, where I am it's all from the same place but the additives are different, I know my dads 2005 Dodge caravan doesn't like Irving gas but is fine with everything else
Hey Brandon. Good luck with the car! Nice to see another set of prettz running around in Calgary. You'll see me in black, though the pretz will be coming off because won't be fitting winters on 19s haha. Anyways the car is a great one. I have about the same milage as you, maybe a little more. People will say things about focus RS, WRX etc. Cars are different despite numbers. the R is awesome. Hope you can get this all figured out so you can have fun in it again. It really is a great ride. Ps looks awesome in grey.
I feel you, got a 2014 ram 1500 ecodiesel, and in the first few km (3-4000km), I went 6 times to the dealer for several problems. New cars, new problems. mostly def system related. I didn't push it or tow in the breaks-in. While other people doesn't have any issues. frustating indeed.
Any news/updates bud???I'm in Edmonton and the issue you are experiencing is starting to hold me back on getting an R.I've never had a prob w/the my 2.0T (Tiguan2015).Essentially the same engine w/stronger internals.Keep us up to date bud.
Hey, I was just curious as to if there is any updates with your misfire issue? There's quite a few of us with similar problems and are struggling to get to the bottom of this. Just wondering if the high pressure fuel pump has completely and permanently fixed this issue. An update would be greatly appreciated.
ugh. I was about to compare a VW GTI SE with a mini clubman S all4. I was thinking that the GTI SE was a better deal but no AWD. Maybe though.... having a car that wont last long is just a REALLY bad idea. Is this mildly typical on gti types??? this bad???
Sorry that really sucks. I had similar QC issues with the DSG in my GTI, which is why I eventually traded it in. I then bought a Ford which was a lemon, and Ford eventually bought back from me thankfully. Now I drive an STI which has been perfect so far...20k miles on the clock! Good luck!
I was thinking about getting this car but the amount of issues you've mentioned in this video I'm kind of double minded now. How long have you had this car for?
Dude, what oil do you put in it? 102 celsius when driving at 2k rpm and 40km/h lol and it doesen't cool off... that's very bad. My TDI-commonrail 2012 got castrol edge 5w-30 LL in it and it doesent go over 85 celsius when doing normal driving and on the autobahn it doesen't go over 110 celsius when doing a constant 195km/h (bcuz limited top speed) over 30km distance, during the summer. Not the most accurate comparison, the diesel does heat more than the gasoline.
Brandon, a bad injector is something that would happen sometimes on the previous generation of engine after many kilometers driven, and that would never be all four of them. I suspect your problem in not related to the car but rather a fuel contamination problem, most likely with water. Where do you fill up ? is it always the same place ? could it be possible somebody put something in your gas tank ? I would buy one of these lockable gas cap at canadian tire as well as some additive for water in gas, I would change gas station and ultimately change gasoline filter and drain it and cut it to see if contaminants are present.
True that - but the guy isn't stupid. He would have noticed that. And if you listen to his vid, he did mention that the entire fuel system checked out fine.
sugar does not mix with gasoline and will ruin your fuel system, but that was just an example. He may have fueled at a station were fuel is contaminated with water
Dude good luck, which dealer did you buy it from in Calgary? I've had my share problems with Northland VW so will never set foot in their dealership again. Took my passat there for an insurance claim to fix a broken window and I got the car back with a cracked diesel tank.... Anyways, back to you talk to the guys at 5th Ave Auto House they are by far the best for dealing with any problems.
Shame dude. Feel bad for you. I had a similar issue with my 2014 R.....They changed injectors and it came right. Is annoying that they can't log a complaint until epc light is on. The car should save the fault code for them. 39000kms done now no issues since that one.
Bummer. Really nice looking car. Reminds me of my 2001.5 B5.5. I watch one of these videos every so often and it brings back memories. Never again. My experience with Vw/Audi is that it's luck of the draw. It's always some electrical issue, but what is causing it?
In fairness the misfiring happens when the temp is really low and it tries to warm up the engine. I have had 3 Golfs with the TSI engine and they all do the hard shuddery "misfiring" to warm the engine up faster. I currently own the same Golf R and on winter mornings it does the same. Hope you solve your issue. I have had a few problems with my R that the dealer caused and as a result I am getting a new one next month.
Felt so bad for you mate, my 16 Golf GTI with 6000 miles is doing just fine. Maybe your car is not assembled with care, you know, shit happens. Hope you can return it with no problems. Good luck!
feel your pain! I bought the Scirocco for a bit of a change from the Bmw's i'd owned and that did exactly the same, it broke down everywhere and no matter what the dealership replaced or tried it didn't work, it went back 4 times in my brief ownership and in the end they had it a month to get to the bottom off it but no joy. I gave the car back as i'd had enough of the inferior goods i was sold and went straight back to Bmw and into a new m135i which has been faultless. good luck!
I have a new golf GTI and from a dead stop, with traction control off , if I take off hard and spin The tires I get a really loud clunking sound sometimes. took it in, They said it was tire hop. it's not. wtf. 2k miles
Good Morning Brandon My name is Suad from Dallas Texas .... I'm having the same issues with my car ..I'm actually at the dealership right now wondering if I could get In contact with you to see what they all did to yours.
They replaced all 4 fuel injectors and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and that seemed to fix it since it's been a few months now and it's been flawless
Brandon Friesen Wow man that's crazy I'm sorry about what you went trough .... I had my first issue with 2 and 4 misfire then the second time it was the same issue ....then the navigation went to shit ....then this morning again 2..3 and 4 misfire had to get lawyer involved and the media ..........vw called and said they will take it back and give me a new one 😀 stay on them get media and lawyer involved for sure paying for a car that's this expensive and going trough crap like this is not fair and should not happen I feel like this will be a bigger issue.... i owned every R never had a problem and then this crap.lost money and time dealing with them they will do everything to keep you in it and avoid taking the hit of course since they are dealing with the diesel issue ... all I can say this is bs and I will hit up the vw dealership for some oil changes and many other things for sure ......😡 if you need any info from me let me know ...... I know Lemmon law does not exist in Canada 🇨🇦 but there should be a way don't let them get away easy😡 even though they supposedly checked and replaced the injectors and coil packs issue is still there 😤
most of my friends who drive VW have issues. was going to get an R but will stick with the BMW group. really sorry you are having problems hope they can fix it
On a side note the VW 1.4TSi twin charger in Polo GTsI, Skoda Fabia VRS , etc has some serious issues. I had to have my engine replaced at 31K after very high oil consumption. Online searches show lots of people with the same issue. Sorry to hear about your Golf R problems.
How are you driving this car in the run-in period? Are you pushing it past 3k rpm? Are you varying your rpms regularly? Are you waiting for the turbo to cool down after parking it? All of these are very important question during the first 5k km.
I feel soo bad for you mate! hope you will finde a solution soon! so u dont have to bother with the car anymore. fantastic car btw!(when it works ;)) Keep up the videos! cheers
I drive a 1999 Volkswagen and I have not had a drivability issue or check engine light in 60000 mi. I'm sure that has something to do with my level of Maintenance foot still good luck and Quality Parts also.
just picked up my 2017 LSG golf R and it's been exactly one week check engine light came on. took it to the dealer and had the same exact faults come up. they test spark plugs out fuel additives drive 50 miles and returned the car.... I guess I have to wait until the come the the conclusion I need a fuel pump.... I almost want to just go buy one and install myself so it doesn't continue to fuck up my brand new car.
Good luck getting them to buy it back. I had a 2012 Mustang GT that I fought for months (with buy back laws) and I finally gave up and traded it off. I know how frustrating it is.
Parts of Canada do have mandatory 30 and 60 day warranties on cars. Even private sales have protections. So it's completely different depending on which province you are in.
I hope you can get your money back, because at least for me, my past experiences had shown me that an engine light on in a zero kilometer car is something you don't wanna get repaired, but replaced for a new one or your money back. we never know how it's gonna be after a couple of years. I already owned 3 VW cars and no problems at all with them, but my first Chevy was bad experience since I got out of the dealership. I live in Brazil, so getting my money back was not even a possibility. You know how hard that'd be in some countries. Hope you can get a solution ASAP. Greetings from Brazil!
I had a 335i and it never ran right. I think it is because of the direct injection personally. Not to mention that in like 10,000 miles you will start experiencing mpg and power loss due to the carbon build up on the intake valves. Best of luck to you .
the engine blew up in my 2015 sti with 5000 kms and i was without it for 5 months. now I'm trading it in cause i haven't had any luck with it ether and getting a ford focus rs :)
I had a Passat which had misfires and engine stalls from 81K. It was NEVER fixed by Toronto dealers, one of which finally declared the car unfixable. I sold this beautiful car for parts because it was a danger to drive (engine would stop on highways) Will never have another VW, not what they used to be.
I just wouldn't buy anything as over-engineered as this... If you carry on with this car past the warranty stage it's probably going to absolutely rape your wallet. You have nearly every added extra.
Brandon, In your first video you mentioned the injectors failed causing the cylinders to be wet with fuel. This is not good. The fuel washes the oil from the cylinders and causes premature wear to the lining and the piston rings. Maybe you should ask dealer to camera the engine with you present to actually see the cylinders and to do a compression check...just incase. I am thinking of buying this car. That said, I shall watch for your up-dates. May I need to reassess my options... Regards.
i feel it.. i bought a 2016 FRS and a good 2 months after purchase it developed a really harsh ticking every now and then.. I went to the dealership and they never found anything nor could they duplicate the issue.. so i made a video.. showed it to them and they said "normal operational noise" but it sounds to me like lifter tick.. Its still around but it hasnt effected performance or anything like that.. so im just dealing with it now. could be because its a boxxer and im not used to that style engine or maybe it it just operational noise lol
I feel sorry for you man. I have a Golf R and its great. I did break my seat and front suspension but it was all fixed and like brand new. You should get a new car man. I am a Golf Fan Boy but shit does happen and you need to go to the government. I know its cold in Canada but your so too in Europe. Sorry to hear this. Good Luck
Injectors leaking at such a young age? That's utterly pathetic. German engineering is not what it was. My 12yo Volvo T5 has never had such fundamental problems like that! Still on its original clutch and turbo at 136k miles
There are lots of German cars hater around the world now. Due to several reasons, German tend to use new technology which is more complicated and thus unreliable in the first couple of years after it's launched in the market. For example, DSG, and twin charge petrol engine and they've been fixed now by either unit replacement or software upgrade. I heard that people's Golf mk6 tsi had engine failure and it was unfixable, which is sad. I owned jetta mk6 tsi 2013 in Australia, it's always been great and reliable because their software's been fixed in late 2012. I had a golf mk4 before, it was a great car. I sold it before I left my home city Shanghai for Australia. So try not to buy VW when its new products just come to the market especially the ones with new technology. Of course, sometimes you just cannot avoid some sort of bad luck. I'm sorry to hear this story. Definitely I won't go for a Japanese car in the future. I'm working in a cafe, every couple of hours the owner need to adjust the coffee grinder to get the coffee right. She describes this job is like power steering wheel, turn too little you can't get it right, turn a little bit more then you overcook it and of course she owns a Japanese car.
I feel for you it's a great car - I don't think that you should accept anything but another car or full refund. You don't buy a new car to have it probed and tempered with from the start. It's clearly the manufacturer's fault, I'm sure the dealership will help you out. Good luck and keep us updated: )
Dude, get rid of it. It's doomed. My GTI was in the shop all the time. My friend owned a VW and he told me so many times to get rid of it. I didn't listen. I learned the hard way. Listen to what I'm saying now. Sell it. Don't look back. You'll thank me.
Have you ever considered the direct competition? Namely the Focus RS or the STI? The Golf R seems like the best value but not for all trouble it's casuing you. I'm biased to Subaru even though that engine is 8 years old and eats gas. Suppose you could downgrade to a WRX with the newer motor for the time being. Still a blast.
Sadly it happens to all of us, last year I had to sell our 3month old (bought brand new) Mitsubishi Lancer. Nothing on that car worked the way it should, it was a total crap car, unsafe to drive. Went to the dealer 5 times, they could not help nor fix the problems. So no it is not only VW that has it's problems from time to time! We bought a brand new Skoda octavia 1.8 TSI (same format as a Golf) lost €7000 in the deal but it was worth it. Back to your Golf, most probably the fault is something (stupid) like an out of tolerance sensor, or a bad connector, a bad ground you name it. These faults don't just show up on the computer but give a multitude of non telling faults. Dealers love to go for the big and complex, and sometimes forget to just go over the simple things first. Cars are more complex than they used to be and that makes even the best technician panic and hope the computer will tell you what the problem is. But OBD and fault codes are only for helping you find the problem, not for telling you where the exact fault is nor for solving it. If I were you I would keep the Golf, knowing VW they will solve your problem in the end for sure, but it is a good idee to start up a case (no lawyer needed, just now) against them for selling you a non working car.
I have my R since April, now around 5000km and there are no problems, but I did not order a lane assist or blind spot assist... Seems that your R is a "Sunday Car"...
I'm really sorry about that but I think you should work things out with vw cz after the warranty ends you're all by ur self so get rid of it and try to make them change it for you with another golf R it's a good car but you just were unlucky....
Every company makes lemons its a fact, one of my co-works went through 3 brand new chevy trucks that all had major problems before he said fuck it and went to a different brand.
You must be kidding me. Golfs are some of the best selling hatchbacks in the world. People love them for their quality and reliability. My Golf GTD is amazing.
A car with that little millage on with so many issues is a QA problem. VW should have given you a new a new R.
Hilton Camons Good advice, hopefully he sees this.
VW IS SHIT!!!
I feel bad for you man. Hopefully VW of Canada will step up and take care of you. Keep us informed!
Germans: great beers. Unreliable cars across the board..... Probably because of great beers.
If German cars are unreliable, what do you call American cars? Undrivable?
Gašper Prijon American cars have their problems, even Japanese from time to time. The difference is that when maintenance and repairs are needed, the costs is no where near German-made cars.
But enjoy what you want. That's why we all have choices in regards to automobiles.
daison96 LOL.
Isamu Wallace what an epic reply
German cars are shit! Never buying one again!!
Lexus/Toyota only for me from now on. Rock solid reliability.
say it again!!
jaiizwaii89 owned a Lexus is250 it was problematic!
Honda/Acura for me.
Invincible Osprey got one. not a single issue.
Rust buckets full of expensive electric toys.
I have a 2010 MK6, never had a problem! I think you've bought that ONE Golf which has plenty of issues! good luck man!
Wow that really sucks. I bought a 2017 base golf from the same dealership as yours just two weeks ago. Only 250 Km's but I really hope I don't get the same problems. Thanks for updating us and letting us all know about all the issues you've been having. Good luck with the buyback if it comes to that.
Crap cars from Germany are coming out lately, here in Europe we got a lot of problems with them too.
Biggie never had a problem with German motors. Had BMW's and VW's
VW IS SHIT!!!
"My injectors were replaced, all four of them" The EA888 series engines have eight injectors; four direct injectors and four manifold multipoint injectors FYI
Get rid of that piece of shit! I had one that was brand new and nothing but problems from day one.
Sandor Fazekas TRUUUUU
The saying here in Australia is that these VW cars spend more time at the mechanic than on the road.
Lol
People are gullible. There are even people who defend VW in the dieselgate thing.
RichieRouge206
You're right....VW finally ended that sickening "German Engineering" phrase from their ads.
Owned a 2013 Jetta since new, sold it after 2 years, very very nice cars to be inside of, but nothing but trouble. Get rid of it dude.
We have a 2013 Jetta and we've had nothing but smooth sailing. Regular Oil changes, tire rotations and air filter changes are the only things we've done. Nothing mechanical as of yet haha, but if something were to happen we're still covered under warranty
Had a 2013 Jetta for 78,000 miles with no issues and now have a 2016 Jetta. 8k miles and no issues.
GamingFlash TM 2008 Jetta not like 2013 nor engines are same too.
my "daily driver" b16a swapped civic redlines at 8200rpm. I had 6 laps on a circuit 2hrs 30min away from my home. and no problems at all. new cars suck too many problems
thats why you dont buy a pos volkswagen.
JDMEXforme why no B16B bro? Had one in my EK before.
Period.
The key is to know a competent and honest German car specialist mechanic. Sometimes dealers don't have any of those.
1 love
#GolfRLife #MK7APR
VW IS SHIT!!!
Miguel Toscano Figueira actually that's where you are wrong dude VW Golf R is High quality built machine that your petty ass prob can't even afford lmao so before you say something stupid just take a seat and go drive your Honda lol .. This guy just had bad luck got one of em lemons .. SMH
Did they check the sensors? Could just be a faulty sensor if it's acting up due to temperature change.
That's brutal man, sorry to hear
I would never buy a vw and recommend to my friends stay away from vw
I got a Toyota 2000 with 250k and never had a check engine light
Get an old Toyota
So did they test the Mass Air Flow sensor? Because it sounds like it could be a faulty or dirty MAF. (Common for oil air filters like a K&N).
Has you had the deals on the dip stick and the oil cap checked for cracks?
Sorry to hear about the problems with your Golf. I personally love VW, My family owned many Jettas, Polos, Passats and A4s in Europe and drove them with only basic oil/brake maintenance for generations. Once I came to Canada, I started hearing a lot of bad reputation about VW in North America. Maybe it's not VW, but the low quality/inspection Mexican plant where most of these North American units are being built at?
yeah, I guess when VW traveled across the Atlantic, they left their reputation behind. VW has a great reputation through Europe to Asia. Somehow, things just don't work out well in North America.
zhang li VW have a over hyped reputation in Europe. When the cold hard facts are looked at their reliability is nothing special
That sucks. No lemon law either. I guess on the upside, you've got free health care.
Scoo Bee hahahahaha
Nothing is free. They do pay less for it though. Canada negotiates with pharmaceutical companies for reasonable pricing. In the USA they gouge us with government backing.
VW IS SHIT!!!
what happened with this. I had same issue but was epc light. long story short picking up my replacement this week.
Any new news on this? My golf R arrives in Calgary in less then a month
Why oh why, do bad things happen to good people? So sorry you're going through this nightmare. I wish you the best and hope you find a satisfactory resolution.
Such a nice looking car, to bad for so many issues. I guess I should cross this one of my next car list.
Here in Brazil cars with high compression rate tend to misfire a lot due to bad quality fuel. Have you tried changing suppliers / using premium?
Fernando Kreutz I'm sure he is using premium because he would have to, switching suppliers is a good idea, where I am it's all from the same place but the additives are different, I know my dads 2005 Dodge caravan doesn't like Irving gas but is fine with everything else
When are they going to do something about it?
Is this mildly typical on gti types??? this bad???
what kind of fuel do you use?
Sorry that really sucks. I had similar QC issues with the DSG in my GTI, which is why I eventually traded it in. I then bought a Ford which was a lemon, and Ford eventually bought back from me thankfully. Now I drive an STI which has been perfect so far...20k miles on the clock! Good luck!
Any status update? Did they fix it / give you a new car?
Any news on the Golf???
any update?
Where do you get your fuel?
Great video and would be good to hear what else happens. Good luck.
Man sorry about all the crap you are going through I hope you get a bye back!
I was thinking about getting this car but the amount of issues you've mentioned in this video I'm kind of double minded now. How long have you had this car for?
Any updates?
did u get another one?
Dude, what oil do you put in it? 102 celsius when driving at 2k rpm and 40km/h lol and it doesen't cool off... that's very bad. My TDI-commonrail 2012 got castrol edge 5w-30 LL in it and it doesent go over 85 celsius when doing normal driving and on the autobahn it doesen't go over 110 celsius when doing a constant 195km/h (bcuz limited top speed) over 30km distance, during the summer. Not the most accurate comparison, the diesel does heat more than the gasoline.
What is the outcome?
Brandon, a bad injector is something that would happen sometimes on the previous generation of engine after many kilometers driven, and that would never be all four of them. I suspect your problem in not related to the car but rather a fuel contamination problem, most likely with water. Where do you fill up ? is it always the same place ? could it be possible somebody put something in your gas tank ? I would buy one of these lockable gas cap at canadian tire as well as some additive for water in gas, I would change gas station and ultimately change gasoline filter and drain it and cut it to see if contaminants are present.
VW's gas tanks are are locked by the central locking system. My 1991 Passat had that already....
This is so easy to defeat with a screw driver... i had sugar poor down in my gas tank 10 years ago...
True that - but the guy isn't stupid. He would have noticed that. And if you listen to his vid, he did mention that the entire fuel system checked out fine.
+vwbora26 Does sugar effect the engine wouldn't it be just like ethanol? Sure it not great as a Golf R should be using 98 octane.
sugar does not mix with gasoline and will ruin your fuel system, but that was just an example. He may have fueled at a station were fuel is contaminated with water
What is current state of your R ?
so sorry to hear of ur car problems man. i hope they can figure this out and fix it. my guess is tht they need to replace the ecu
This sucks for you.. I've have my R since September of last year and had zero issues with it... hopefully you get it sorted
I would have opt for the tractor for a loaner!!
What's the update?
Felt so bad for you mate, my 16 Golf GTI with 6000 miles is doing just fine. Maybe your car is not assembled with care, you know, shit happens. Hope you can return it with no problems. Good luck!
Don't VW do quality control? It's a joke.
Riley Karssemeyer
NO...VW should swallow their pride and consult with the Japanese for schooling on engineering and quality improvement.
After Deizelgate, its obvious they just dont give a fuck.
feel your pain! I gave the car back as i'd had enough of the inferior goods i was sold and went straight back to Bmw and into a new m135i which has been faultless. good luck!
To say BMW is faultless is like saying pigs fly
I have a new golf GTI and from a dead stop, with traction control off , if I take off hard and spin The tires I get a really loud clunking sound sometimes. took it in, They said it was tire hop. it's not. wtf. 2k miles
yes, thats tire hop, you want them to FIX that you chose a FWD car? dipshit.
Vw are supposed to replace the car if you have the same problem more than three times. Also do you guys have lemon law.
jason21jburg nope
Good Morning Brandon My name is Suad from Dallas Texas .... I'm having the same issues with my car ..I'm actually at the dealership right now wondering if I could get In contact with you to see what they all did to yours.
They replaced all 4 fuel injectors and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and that seemed to fix it since it's been a few months now and it's been flawless
Brandon Friesen
Wow man that's crazy I'm sorry about what you went trough ....
Gašper Prijon the gti and golf r come broken in from the factory
bu u still have to be careful the first 1k miles or so...
Turbo timers are a thing of the past technology has moved on hence water cooling post shutoff
Why didn't you simply do lemon law.
mac daddy
He comments during the vid that there is no Lemon Law in Canada.
Parts of Canada do have mandatory 30 and 60 day warranties on cars. Even private sales have protections. So it's completely different depending on which province you are in.
VW IS SHIT!!!
Luckily, the VW dealership is less then a mile away from my house.
whats the VW colour just out of curiosity??
limestone gray
Brandon,
In your first video you mentioned the injectors failed causing the cylinders to be wet with fuel.
Good Luck
Have a Evo X don't know if I should trade for a Golf R lol.
Injectors leaking at such a young age? That's utterly pathetic. German engineering is not what it was. My 12yo Volvo T5 has never had such fundamental problems like that! Still on its original clutch and turbo at 136k miles
RichieRouge206 Volvo is a great brand, too bad they became boring:(
That's because of the Injector instillation method, if installed in car the wrong way they can leak
Since when is Volvo a German brand?
I'd give them it back and ask for either a replacement car or full refund.
and leave it at the dealership.
Thanks for sharing. Was thinking of getting a GTI but is not gonna happen.
Kinda ironic seeing a VW ad after clicking this video.
Try a Focus RS, if they are available in Canada.
fergie35X they are, they're actually selling at sticker price here too, instead of all being bought and immediately turned over above sticker
I am from Calgary too. I thought about buying the golf r, but got the m240i instead. Really like the golf r, it is unfortunate to hear about this.
I have my R since April, now around 5000km and there are no problems, but I did not order a lane assist or blind spot assist...
Seems that your R is a "Sunday Car"...
I'm really sorry about that but I think you should work things out with vw cz after the warranty ends you're all by ur self
so get rid of it
and try to make them change it for you with another golf R
it's a good car but you just were unlucky....
Do I hear lemon law?
We wish
What a shit car…sorry to say, but paying so much for so many problems it's just nonsense.
Alain, what YOU say is nonsense. Do you really think Brandon knew he would have so many problems when he bought the car? He just had bad luck.
VascoFL It's not bad luck only. VW's aren't known for quality after 90's.
Every company makes lemons its a fact, one of my co-works went through 3 brand new chevy trucks that all had major problems before he said fuck it and went to a different brand.
You must be kidding me. Golfs are some of the best selling hatchbacks in the world. People love them for their quality and reliability. My Golf GTD is amazing.
is this common for vws?
Yes
