    I love my THR10ii. I just wish Yamaha had more of a community to share and download tones like some of the other digital amps.

    Thank you for this awesome review, I just got this AMP because of you and I have to say it blew me away. It packs so much in such a little package.
    Also I have a $350 JBL Bluetooth speaker and this AMP puts it to shame, the music has more definition and bass is amazing and not to mention is way louder.
    I am very happy with this AMP 10/10

    Argh ... how can you introduce this amp, make a 10-minute video-demo about this amp, have a bassguitar right next to you and not talk about the very special feature the THR 10II has?
    I mean how is it, a box, well its speakers respectively, this small can take these frequencies? What does it sound like?

    Hi Drew. I just got the THR30ii and absolutely love it, one of the best sounding small amps I've ever heard. However, I'm not having such great luck when trying to record with it. I downloaded the latest audio drivers from the THR30ii page, and installed Reaper, of which I haven't used in years - just getting back into guitar after a 5 year break. I notice when I record with it, the input levels are very low, though I have the USB out turned up very high in the Yamaha app. I noticed the recorded guitar tone sounds very thin and not very "present", like it's sort of in the background. Also, when I render the tracks, the output volume is very low, I have to crank it way up. I'm also noticing some crackling sounds occasionally, as it's monitoring the recording. I don't think anything is wrong with the amp, because everything else is working flawlessly. Is there something that a noob like me should be checking on? Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide. I'm very new to recording, so I have a feeling I have something setup wrong. Also, I made sure to get the inputs to about 3/4 way showing, and I'm trying to record the wet signal directly, without applying any effects. Thank you kindly.

    • @RADERFPV
      @RADERFPV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@seanthebean2 It was noob error, lol. I was mistakenly recording in stereo if I recall correctly, effectively cutting the volume in half. I don't think it's been an issue since, but I do tend to go through an audio interface most of time, so I'm not really sure.

    • @DrewCreal
      @DrewCreal  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, thanks for your comment. I've only recorded with the THR a couple times with Cubase LE. I don't have any experience with Reaper, but I hear it works well. My suggestion would be to try using the free version of Cubase that came in the box with your THR. They may work better together. I think it's worth a try. Otherwise, I think for the best results an interface with an SM57 is a tried and true method, even if you're recording a small amp like the THR, you can isolate the amp with blankets or sound proofing material. Try putting the amp in your closet, and once you get the sweet spot, you're set to record some awesome stuff! That's just what I would do, but theres a ton of great ways to record these days. Best of luck and thanks for watching 🤘

      @hienvu1714 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know in GarageBand, a lot of people make the mistake of choosing the "guitar" input, which routes your guitar through the built-in amp modelers. Choosing the mic input allows you to get sounds from your THR.

  • @JoeyValentino-v3d

    Whenever I record my bass using this amp, the sound ends up completely different than the one I hear. Is it because i'm recording with a Mono instrument cable instead of a stereo one? I plugged the THR with a midi cable and into my laptop for audacity.

    Nice review. I have a the original cream THR and I would love to use my iPad for recording. Will this act as a interface with iPad? 1. You can record on your iPad with these, you just need the proper cable. The software is even included in the box when you buy one.

      With the THR30ii you get stereo 1/4" outs on the back. So, you can use this amp in a live situation which is really cool. The 30 also has a rechargeable battery and a built in wireless receiver and I believe you have to use the line 6 wireless transmitter. The 10 has the same amps and tone setting as the 30 but the ones on the 30 can be switched on the amp and the on the 10 you have to use the app to switch between the various amp models. The original thr10 had 3 models and the Thr 2 has all three. I used to have the spark but I returned it. To me the Yamaha sounds like a real amp and the spark sounded like a plug in.

    Hi Drew. I bought a THR30II WIRELESS almost 4 years ago but only used it for about an hour then put it away. I was more into my THR100HD stereo setup at the time but would like to get that THR30II back out and take advantage of its wireless convenience. I was going to buy a ElectroPhonic guitar with built-in amp/speakers but remembered that i had this in my closet!
    One really dumb question: I can't plug the wireless dongle into a pedal then use a cable from the pedal into the amp, correct?

    • @DrewCreal
      @DrewCreal  ปีที่แล้ว

      The THR100 sounds really cool. If I remember correctly that amp has stereo capabilities right? If you get the Line 6 G10 wireless unit you can only use the amp directly from your guitar. If you want to play wirelessly with pedals I would recommend the XVive U2 system because you get a transmitter and receiver. I have a video to this below for you if you want to check it out.

      There is an acoustic setting on these amps, it sounds great with a little bit of chorus and reverb if you play an acoustic/electric guitar. There is also a new version of the THR that has a built in XLR input for simultaneous guitar/vocal use. It's called the Yamaha THR30iiA. Pretty cool amp if dream of playing coffee house, small club and street corner gigs.

    I use this amp now about 6 months, after I had several THR 10's. Very happy with it, but there's one problem, the THR remote app....Connecting the amp for playing backing tracks on your Android tablet or phone is no problem, that works flawless, but connecting / syncing the THR Remote app with your Android device doesn't work so far. On laptop/ PC no problem at all, but as I am mostly working "on the road" it would be nice to make changes in a mobile way without unpacking my laptop everytime....anyone can help ?? UPDATE: Problem solved...If they had written that the amp should have been totally stand alone... still had the USB cable connected to the PC ( but not the Remote app launched, not even the PC on). But I still wonder WHERE the presets are saved on your mobile device. Within the app ??

    I love this amp i just found out about a "boosted stereo" mode if you hold down the the tuner it puts a little octothorpe (#) next to the tuner window and sounds incredible with the effects, i played the amp for 5 months before i found it. also you can drastically alter the way the amp simulation responds with the master volume, and guitar knob; for example you can dime one of the knobs and use the other as the master or vice versa and it massively changes the note attack and bloom its like comparing Vanhalen 1 to Ponrograffiti using the modern and classic modes its fucking wild.

    I gave up at 1 minute. Why does there have to be a background sound ? I just wanted to hear about the amp. Seems a lot of people feel the need to add a sound track. Doesn't work for me.
