I love your series on the CNE predecessors. In the early 1990s my uncle took me on a series of trips to explore CNE. Much later I started researching my genealogy. It turns out that one of my great-great grandmother’s cousins was on the D&C survey crew. He went on to become the chief civil engineer for Norfolk and Western in Virginia. Another relative was an attorney involved with CNE predecessor Connecticut Western. I love CNE, so it was interesting to learn about my family’s involvement.
Glad you enjoyed and got to see what's actually left in these modern times of what, no doubt, your family had a part in planning and mapping out! Thanks!!
I grew up off route 82 in Lagrangeville from 84-2000. Cool video of my home town. My brother still lives there in Unionvale near Noxon road he’s an engineer for Metro North RR
It is one of the coolest things I've done!! Combines adventure, searching, exploring, history, and an occassional Liverwurst sandwich and cold beer!! Thanks for watching them all!!!
@@lostrailbeds8289 it's on the south end of Alley, near the road that crosses the Taconic. There is a pond across the road. The cheese factory is a squat white cinder block building, the driveway is to the right of it. They don't make cheese there, but my landlord owned it. His name was Alphonse Piombino and he got 90th birthday greetings from President Ford! I recall that there were monstrous snapping turtles in the pond, as big around as the top of a garbage can. You can have a lot of fun tracing the O & W lines in Sullivan county. There is a remnant of it in Middletown.
@@lawrencelewis2592 Ok, now I'm going to go poke around on THAT end of Alley rd. and see what I come up with. Yes- the O&W beds are on my list! Thanks for the tip!

I lived in an an apartment on Alley Road in Lagrange from 1980 to 1982. It was in back of the old cheese factory if you are familiar with that.
Not familiar with a cheese factory....there were a few ponds where they cut ice for the Bordens Creamery in Hopewell, but I'll dig deeper. Thanks!
