  • My go-to gravel sprint ride in early morning or after work! (30 mins-ish door to door)
    (Stourbridge Common - River Cam - Baits Bite Lock gate - Low Fen Drove Way - High Ditch Road - Ditton Meadows)
    Ever since I converted my touring bike into a 'gravel bike' setup, I have been enjoying the ride along river Cam and off beaten paths by the vast farmland. I discovered a short path after crossing the lock gate and through the Low Fen Drove Way which is a joy to ride! I then finish the ride back to the picturesque Ditton Meadows greeted by cows and horses.
    A refreshing off beaten path close to the city!

    I'll be attending Cambridge in the fall and as a cyclist nothing has gotten me as excited for the experience as this video!

    Beautifully shot and edited. I ride around Cambridge. Is this route out towards Ely/Waterbeach?

    • @tadwenture
      @tadwenture  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Alex...yes if you keep following the Canal route to Waterbeach, you'll come across the canal lock gate, and you can continue the short off road on the opposite and (turn right then left) after that instead of turning left towards Horningsea. The rest is free for you to explore! 🙌

    I often do parts of that ride myself , did you know you can get to ely with almost all of it on gravel. It's a lovely ride and you can always get the train home if you are not up for the return journey..... anyway enjoy

      Hey Karl ☺️ I like this one as a half an hour sprint where I will be flat out after that 😅 I'm curious which path of the backcountry do you take towards Ely? Do you go past Bottisham Lode Pumping Station?

      @@tadwenture well after that bridge over the A14 u finished on I would turn left then under the A14 to stow cum quy then into the
      backblocks behind Anglesey Abbey and on to Wicken fen, more backblocks will eventually get to to the river and follow that to Ely , think it took me about 90 minutes so not really a sprint.

      If you carry on to the tow path up to Waterbeach then cross over the river at a lock. After a part that is really only a footpath you can get back on the back roads and head towards Wicken Fen and on to Ely. Shame you can't easily keep going all the way to kings Lyn

    Would you recommend that mirror? Looking for something similar

    • @tadwenture
      @tadwenture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh Yes! Once you set it to the right angle, you pretty much get the entire vision of the road behind you, including the cyclists cycling behind you. There will be a blind spot as all mirror does, which is the spot next to the rear wheel, so sometimes it is worth peeking around that side if you are cycling on a fast busy road. Otherwise, I find it very useful! I can't live without it right now.
