I thought Morty sounded a bit older and Rick was a bit less deranged and snippy... both of which are in-line for the character development each has had over 6 seasons of TV. Both new VAs were great in my opinion, and the show is in good hands-especially if the overall cast functions better as a group moving forward!
I think it's really funny that it's not even a parody of the Predator, like Scary Terry being based on Freddy Krueger, it's just straight-up the Predator and Rick and the gang had to fight it.
Your rick and morty videos are amazing johnny! Your work and passion for this series is always great to see! Keep it up man! this season will be amazing!
I have a feeling that by the end of the season, any real differences will be forgotten. It’s not really any different than when a show is new. The voices usually change as the VA grows into the role.
Good point on impressions. It's much easier to do impressions of scenes that exist rather than acting out entirely new scenes with no prior performance to go off of.
It was better honestly that’s what made morty so funny now he’s just boring same with Rick he doesn’t even have the same energy not only that but Ricks new va sounds wayyyy less intelligent than the previous va
The actors do sound distinct from Roiland and honestly I think it’s for the best. Ian Cardoni’s Rick specifically feels like Rick is mellowing out and becoming happier which fits his character now. Harry Belden’s Morty also sounds more confident which is also fitting for his development. I wasn’t very optimistic going into this premiere and with a title like it had who could blame me but I was kinda impressed with it. I think the show made the right move just chugging along without addressing the creep in the room directly. I think MPB’s story in this episode could be a reading on the dangers of enabling your friend’s vices. This feels like their way of acknowledging that they fueled a destructive manchild and influenced a toxic fanbase in much the same way. I’m gonna at least watch a few more episodes to see how it goes but so far I’m seeing more reasons for me to continue watching it than quitting.
You are aware that all allegations were proven false and Roiland was never charged for any crime correct? It's this guilty till proven innocent and even then still guilty BS that's enabling.
I was sold by the trailers that they could sound like the characters, but I needed a full episode to see if they’d also nail the cadence and timing. Morty wasn’t in the episode enough for me to tell, but this proved they made a great choice for Rick at least. I would not have known there’d been a change if it weren’t so publicized.
Why is anyone getting on board with firing a man for charges that were dropped? This *isn't* ok. This *isn't* a good precedent to allow to move forward. Why aren't you *all* throwing a fkn *fit* *?* Do you have NO *LOYALTY* for the man who CREATED the show you claim you enjoy... & enjoy more than almost any other show anywhere anytime... Wtf...
Not hating on the new actors but they sound totally different because…… they are!!! The decision to cut ties with the co creator and original voice for so many of these iconic characters was a lot premature in my opinion, as he should be innocent until proven guilty and so far, he hasn’t been treated any other way but guilty which is unacceptable! This decision should’ve been made if and only if he was actually convicted of a crime not just simple allegations.
Cleveland's new voice sounds terrible. I've seen all of Family Guy and the voice doesn't sound the same. It sounds less energy too. I wish they were able to find a better voice actor.
No, the new voices are not great. They fire Justin Roland for no reason. There was no evidence. All charges were dropped against him and they didn’t even apologize so I didn’t even decide to watch the new Rick and Morty. The VA’s are good impersonators, but they aren’t creators, directors, or improvisers like Roiland, which is where every bit of the charm of this show came from. Also writers, where even though Roiland stopped writing, his improv was better then writing, and literally every iconic R&M episode has had him involved in the writing. It’s also weird to support a show that was fine with ruining a man’s life over allegations that ended up being not true, with no information to know one way or the other. And I know people say he wasn’t getting along with Harmon, but that’s not unusual. He’s just one on a list of people who don’t want to work with Dan. That’s a Dan Harmon problem, not a Roiland one. Harmon’s has a record of using controversy as a reason to cut ties with someone and save face with his audience.
this comment is like 90% speculation lol. Roiland is a creep and countless people who worked with him said he was a disruptive pain. The disgusting DMs he sent are reason enough for me to not support him
I think they did pretty darn great. Overall, I don't think the episode, regardless of actors, was anything more than pretty bland though. Also, who used to do Birdperson?
I have to give kudos for how they went about the process, not just in how much confidence they put in fresh talent but also because it's evidently already paying off with how shockingly seamless the transition has been. Which makes me *really* interested in seeing how they'll grow into their own for seasons 8 on.
If i wasn't made aware of the cast change, I GUARANTEE I wouldn't have noticed. Ian and Harry did an amazing job, and I can't wait to see how they do with a bit more creative freedom.
The Rick actor sounds pretty good sometimes he sounds exactly like the original, but the Morty actor never sounds like the original, a lot of the time he sounds like a crying child.
Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden both sounded great to me when I watched through the episode, for me I wasn't even able to notice a really difference in Belden's Morty from Roiland's. Though Cardoni does definitely sound different from Roiland it's definitely not bad or unnatural to me, it maybe caught me off for a single minute of the episode but after that I was easily able to associate it with Rick just fine. I'm really looking forward to season 8 where Cardoni and Belden are able to act more freely off of each other and aren't forced to simply dub off of Roiland's old performances, it's definitely looking up so far though!!!!!
People often forget the 2nd half of voice acting is actually acting. I think I'm pretty good at doing impressions/voices but trying to stay in character always feels like an impossible task
They sounded close enough that my girlfriend still doesn't know he's been replaced, but I could tell at points. Morty's voice is close, but his cadence is off at times. Rick sounds great when he's speaking normally, but he doesn't have the "grit" to his voice when he gets angry. All-in-all, the episode was fine. The best part was the lawn mower.
Honestly, they did a great job. The voice actors sound virtually identical (I mean you legit have to TRY to hear difference at times) and its probably going to make the transition a lot smoother for most people.
I just happened to watch the episode last night because I came across it flipping through the channels. Totally forgot about the recasting. Thought it sounded really good. Enjoyed the episode. I think like this could be good in the long run. Give the two characters a chance to grow more.
y’all mfs are coping so hard in these comments the new voices suck and the writing is the worst it’s ever been which probably is why reviews have tanked down to a 30% audience score.
loved the new episode. the voices grew on me after 5 mins for sure by the end i was happily laughing all the way. ty for the great content and channel! gl
Man the new Rick's voice is freaking spot on, yeah it's not perfect when expressing certain lines but other than that it is pretty dang amazing. Morty's voice actor is pretty good too, can barely tell a difference between hm and Justin.
i don't like the idea of rick bettering himself entirely. he's supposed to be an asshole. if they just make him a nice guy, that just removes his personality that people loved about the character. plus that would make no sense thanks to the detox episode of Rick & Morty. that episode literally shows that removing his toxicity makes him lame, takes away his character... we don't need detox rick again. plus toxic rick is the rick that secretly cares about morty, if you watched the episode. it would make no sense for rick to better himself entirely.
I started watching season 7 and completely forgot they replaced the voice actors. It wasn't till midway that I realized they were changed. Needless to say they fit perfectly. Can't tell the difference if you are lost and zoned into the show.
The opening 10min felt like someone trying to emulate the voices, and doing a decent imitation but the later part of the episode was far more immersive and a lot fewer moments where you could tell the voice is different.
I’m glad you talked about supporting these new voice actors. The Rick and Morty fandom has a big issue especially with attacking people and trying to support a creep! Love your videos as always dude
Honestly, if we hadnt been told a ton of people wouldnt have noticed and the little differences dont really matter. Sure, I'll miss Rick's higher pitch when screaming but we will get used to it with time and I think writers will also get used to writing for that voice.
One interesting thing is that regardless of quality or preference, the two characters now have individual actors instead of a shared va. To me at least this would seem to give them more time to focus on their own part, I hope it works out!
The best part about this story and the fact that they had to recast these characters is that they were committed to having to find the best people to do the job. And I love that their audition process was designed to find the best people for this job. I'm one of the people that was not happy about the firing. And I'm actually quite blown away what they've been able to do recasting these characters.

thats crazy. do u guys have ear dmg or just content dmg from shorts and trik tok's? mortys voice is really well done but ricks voice is way off. not just the sound of the voice, the cadence and rhythm is not rick at all.

I barely noticed a difference and I was listening for it. Speaking only on the voices I think they did a great job. I fully embrace them already.
The voice acting was close enough to what I expect not to distract me from the episode. The episode itself was okay. Glad they have some voice actors that can fill these rolls and hopefully help the show reach new heights.
🤣
Probably could get away with it legally by making it a “parody” with the P.I. angle!
Maybe, but it looks like the Predator and for the most part acts like the Predator.
They sounded different for one second then my brain got used to it
Good point on impressions. It's much easier to do impressions of scenes that exist rather than acting out entirely new scenes with no prior performance to go off of.
Ahh man I was so skeptical at first but man they did wonderfully...it's just like the bugs bunny having different voice actors over the years
I haven’t watched Rick and Morty in a while but this got my attention! I’m glad they found excellent new voices for these characters!
why is Dan Harmon still in? Remember that baby video he did?
He did that in 2009. Idk maybe cancel culture wasn't around that time.
Morty got now a less 'annoying' voice imo. The new voice cast is pretty good so far. Good premiere if you ask me.
It was better honestly that’s what made morty so funny now he’s just boring same with Rick he doesn’t even have the same energy not only that but Ricks new va sounds wayyyy less intelligent than the previous va
Are you 14@@trenton1458
I think the Poopy recast is far easier to listen to over a whole episode.
Are you trolling ? Hes voice is definitetly way more annoying
I feel like it's less annoying but I wish it wasn't lol
It was written before all the stuff went down, so while your analogy may be accurate, I doubt it was intentional as a dig against Roiland.
What are you talking about Rick being happier now? He's the most wacked out and stressed we've ever seen him he's hunting down Prime Rick.
@@haloplayer9855 I meant like the voice SOUNDS happier
@@mortisnoctu yeah I doubt it was intentional but I still find it an interesting reading anyway
Enjoyed the episode and the new voice actors. Slight vocal differences but great job overall. Welcome back R & M. We’ve missed you!
I like morty voice it sounds like he's growing up Rick's voice is good but like it sounds like he cleared his voice but on all its amazing
I didn’t even notice. That’s how good they were.
Nope they are not good. Bring back Justin!

I don't really watch this show. But I like geeking over voice actors. So this was a treat anyway. I think the new voice actors are doing great.

EXACTLY! Thank you
I can say I’m so happy with the casting just like Cleveland if you didn’t know there’s virtually no way you’d notice
Cleveland was a good comparison. Arif was doing that voice for years for TH-cam before the Family Guy recast and imo it was literally perfect.
Are you high? Cleveland was barely noticable, but with rick and morty, I cannot for the life of me get my focus off the dogshit voice
I’ll watch all the old episodes that support Justin Rowland end of story and I’ll keep telling everybody not to watch the new Rick and Morty or any of the shows that they replaced the voice actor.

Not really. Rick sounds bad. Morty is mid borderline ick.
Just because an actor has been recasted doesn't mean it's downhill or that it's ruined. Because writing matters more not actors. Rick and Morty will continue to be good as long if the writing continues to be good. If the writing is bad in this new season then it's bad not because of the actor replacement. Same thing can be said for Solar Opposites.
This Rick is almost close to the original and Morty is 100% accurate. The new voices are solid. Don't be Roiland fanboys similar to the Snyder fanboys
Morty only had three lines and MPB sounded off but Rick was spot on. i'm over it.

I literally didn’t notice the change
I LOVE Harry's Morty voice, it's so perfect!
Well, I don’t.

He’s stated in interviews that he was mocking the fan base and that this was just a skit. clearly he was so good at mocking the fan base he’s still the face of it 6 years later 😂
Just bring Roland back
Don't bring back Roiland. I'm sorry but you have to stop glazing Justin Roiland. The cases for his first allegation were dropped which for that he was innocent. But he was in a 2nd controversy which is using fame to lure younger fans. The evidence was shown via screenshot of the text messages so he is not innocent for that one and that makes him a bad person. For that, he doesn't deserve Rick and Morty. So thank god he is fired. His co-workers doesn't feel safe having him in the studio because he very unpleasant. Don't be Roiland fanboys similar to the Snyder fanboys. Roiland is not innocent, he was in another contrvery which using fame to lure younger fans.

Groundhogs day but Christmas
“Do you understand how little that narrows it down.”
Didn't American Dad do that a few years ago, albeit with a 5 minute loop?
@@AxelWedstar411 it’s not even a Disney tv movie exclusive since technically ABC family did one too. And likely others as well. So Disney has at least two or more live action direct to tv movies about someone repeating the same Christmas Day over and over till they learn something
They could have saved themselves the trouble by just doing the right thing and not screwing the OG voice actor over false allegations but whatever.
The OG voice screwed himself over by being a pain to work with. If he'd actually had any friends on the show, he wouldn't have been so easily fired.
Are people really expecting the voice actors to be LITERALLY the same as Justin? That’s crazy. The new VAs are doing a great job!
The disgusting DMs he sent are reason enough for me to not support him
I was initially worried but this is an amazing job from the actors and casting team.
I think they did pretty darn great. Overall, I don't think the episode, regardless of actors, was anything more than pretty bland though. Also, who used to do Birdperson?
BP has always been Dan Harmon
I have to give kudos for how they went about the process, not just in how much confidence they put in fresh talent but also because it's evidently already paying off with how shockingly seamless the transition has been. Which makes me *really* interested in seeing how they'll grow into their own for seasons 8 on.
Season 7 episode 1 is the worst rated episode in the history of the show it’s over man
Him saying Mr Poopy Butthole in a serious voice gets me
If i wasn't made aware of the cast change, I GUARANTEE I wouldn't have noticed.
Which is why these early episodes have a huge disadvantage with the new guys needing to dub over existing Roiland performances.
didn't hear much of Morty, but Rick is definitely spot-on. Great casting.
I wouldn’t say spot on for Rick Buh for sure morty I can’t tell the difference
Give the two characters a chance to grow more.

loved the new episode. the voices grew on me after 5 mins for sure by the end i was happily laughing all the way. ty for the great content and channel! gl
Man the new Rick's voice is freaking spot on, yeah it's not perfect when expressing certain lines but other than that it is pretty dang amazing. Morty's voice actor is pretty good too, can barely tell a difference between hm and Justin.
Agreed. Very impressive overall.
i don't like the idea of rick bettering himself entirely. he's supposed to be an asshole. if they just make him a nice guy, that just removes his personality that people loved about the character. plus that would make no sense thanks to the detox episode of Rick & Morty. that episode literally shows that removing his toxicity makes him lame, takes away his character... we don't need detox rick again. plus toxic rick is the rick that secretly cares about morty, if you watched the episode. it would make no sense for rick to better himself entirely.
i loved the voice actors in the start i kinda didnt dig ricks voice but they really pulled it off wxcited to see what thee seasons hold
I hate how they sound exactly the same as Justin Roiland’s voices.
I can definitely tell the difference. Hopefully they'll get better with time. Bring back Justin.
Love your videos as always dude
>a creep
What creep? 🤔
"A run away tractor wreaking havoc across a city" was more or less conceptually done in Bobs Burgers with the anamatronic shark.
i love the new voice actors and i think they are gonna do a fine job
There is a diffrence mostley because having 6 seasons of Justin means that its going to take awhile to get used to.
Honestly, if we hadnt been told a ton of people wouldnt have noticed and the little differences dont really matter. Sure, I'll miss Rick's higher pitch when screaming but we will get used to it with time and I think writers will also get used to writing for that voice.
I always thought Ricks voice slightly changed throughout the seasons already, so people definitely wouldn’t have noticed that it wasn’t Justin
One interesting thing is that regardless of quality or preference, the two characters now have individual actors instead of a shared va. To me at least this would seem to give them more time to focus on their own part, I hope it works out!
Should have just kept Justin smh
The best part about this story and the fact that they had to recast these characters is that they were committed to having to find the best people to do the job. And I love that their audition process was designed to find the best people for this job.
I'm one of the people that was not happy about the firing.
And I'm actually quite blown away what they've been able to do recasting these characters.
I 100% couldn’t tell for poopybutthole, for Rick and Morty they sound natural and the more I watched the episode the more I got use to Rick’s voice.
I’m so glad the comments aren’t filled with people foaming at the mouth for that random TikTok douchbag to replace these two. They did a great job!
Yes they are! Love their work!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Kinda sad that its guilty till proven innocent since all the charges got dropped for Justin Roiland.
I hate it. Justin should have never been fired.

I was just very excited this morning to watch the new episode that i never tought a single second about the new VAs.
