    Hey I checked out your list of tools viedo, and have 1 question. What are you using to heat your coin ( furnace brick, tungsten steel plate?). Built a wooden table and do not want to burn down the house. I used a steel table with a tunsten plate when I was glass blowing, but your using a kiln brick furnace brick? Harley bikers would love a bell like this to keep the gremlins off their harley.

    I made one but I added a 3rd coin in between the top and bottom to make an elongated bell. Thanks for the idea.

    Could you use silver wire to keep the bell consistant or is it too soft. Nice work. The bell is beauty.

      Maybe

      Silver wire works just fine. You can work harden it by tapping it on a bench block with a rawhide or plastic mallet.

    Great video as always. Wanted to ask what type of solder are you using to fuse the two halves together? I do coin cutting and use a lot of Clad coinage.....not sure what type of solder to use.

    • @CoinRingsfromTheMint
      @CoinRingsfromTheMint  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t know much about soldering when I made this video and used plumbing solder. Now that I know how to solder I realize I would use silver solder. For this project I would be probably go with an easy solder since it is such a large piece to heat up and there’s just 1 seam.

    • @CoinRingsfromTheMint
      @CoinRingsfromTheMint  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are soldering jump rings to clad coins I would use hard silver solder. But you could definitely use easy too.

    Great video. You did an awesome job. When I make my bells. I go ahead and attach the clacker to the wire before soldiering. I curve my handle last after the soldier and patina. 😁👍 I’ve got videos on my channel as well on making bells. 😁👍 have a great week

    Think I might have to try making one of these but use sterling silver wire instead of copper👍😁👍 ( I think I might use Franklin half dollars instead, because it just makes sense with the Liberty bell on the back )

    I don’t know how you or anyone else can justify using $50 worth of coins ? I must be cheap or something because I have a hard time using 2 normal quarters ! Lol. I know it’s art and very cool looking but I can make 50 of them for the price of 1 ! Just saying !

  • @Roberob1189
    @Roberob1189 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t understand how it doesn’t bother you that you’re ruining American coins. Some very old at that. I get what you’re doing. It’s awesome and looks nice. It’s just crazy how there’s people out there going crazy to collect these. Spending tons of money and you’re here literally destroying them. Yeah what you make is beautiful and cool. But it is considered destroying them. Since there’s no going back. I wish you’d buy the fake coins for this.

    • @CoinRingsfromTheMint
      @CoinRingsfromTheMint  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not concerned at all. I use common dates. There were 10s of millions of them minted every year. Most real serious coin collectors completely understand and usually buy a ring. It seems like the ones who don't understand serious collecting are the ones who make a big deal about it. I didn't know much about coins 10 years ago so I get it. But now I have a more full understanding.

    • @Roberob1189
      @Roberob1189 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Change You Can Wear I collect coins. Have so for 20 years. I have many coins that are extremely sought after. I should have explained myself more clear. My problem with it is that in the future far and near the amount of coins rapidly disappear. Within 20 years (which is a fraction in time) there will be many many less than today. You think in 1880 with all the coins from the past that were circulating, no one cared about it like yourself. Because there were many around. Today, those same coins are scares. There will be less and less for our following generations. Whatever though, don’t agree with me, that’s your right. I’m just pointing it out. I appreciate what you do and it’s quite beautiful. I understand it. It just sucks to see them gone forever. Just think about it.
