I have a 2006 with low original hours I rebuilt the carb, changed the jetting, modded the exhaust and put 2006 Yz250f front end on it and brand new tires. it does great from the trails to the track it’s an amazing bike for what it is and I have only about 2000$ in it! I ride the f*@&$ out of it and it’s never had any issues or overheated.
I’m a Long time Honda guy, as well as an XR-R ‘fan boi’. The one thing that hurt my (appetite) for the XR250R was no electric start. When you’re in technical terrain, toward the end of the day, an E start is very, VERY welcome. TTR 👍🏼
I had one of these when I was a kid. It was a great bike but a little soft for aggressive riding. I ended up snapping the foot pegs off while landing to flat off a little jump. I have fond memories of this bike.
I remember that model quite well. I bought a brand new one back in 2000. It was a really nice bike with surprising power, since it had dual overhead cams, it revved out really well and pulled hard. I would have kept it longer, but I really wanted a YZ426, so after one year, I traded the TTR for a YZ426, which was a very awesome bike that I rode for many years.
Cool video. I just picked up one of these not running in decent shape for $100. I'm going to be posting videos of it on my channel, starting in just a couple days.
They don't make the TTR-225 anymore (like the 250) - I think they only produced that model for 1 or 2 years. It was replaced with the TTR-230 which is a different frame than the 225 and is now the top model in the TTR line. I have a 230 and its a decent bike for trails, but will probably look for a 250 as well - as the HP difference is huge 17 HP vs. 28 HP. Good video, but you keep hyping these bikes I'm going to pay more for them! :)
I have one of each (Australian models} , The TTR250 is a bit more beefier than a 1997 XR250R , Its more XR400R in size . The TTR250 motor is better , very reliable . electric and kick start . The TTR250 evolved into the WR250F .
@@jeremy-ez6nd goes well on the road, goes well off road, fairly quick (with mods), starts easy, not overly demanding on servicing, cheap to run & very durable. That’s pretty much everything, seeing as you’re trying to be clever.
Looking at buying one rn, what’s the average price for them? The one I’m looking at has a few skuffs here and there and is REALLY dirty but that can be fixed, Ide say it’s fair-good condition
Honda XR is really good. But don't sleep on Yamaha, the TTR 250 is not bad. You'll be able to get a TTR 250 cheaper though. But Honda holds value a bit more. Both great bikes in my opinion. 👍
@@BraapEffex that’s if you can find one, I never see these or drz 250s pop up. Xrs are more common but even then clean ones are getting harder to find.
They are great bikes. My dad had a 99 TTR 250 when I had my 98 XR 400. The XR motor was magic but I loved the handling of the TTR, perfect for tight woods. The forks on the TTR were the weak spot for me, just too soft and underdamped to really ride the bike to its potential.
IM LOOKING INTO DOING PERFORMANCE PARTS BUT I DON'T WANT A BIG BORE KIT IS THERE ANYTHING YOU RECOMMEND IM COMFORTABLE WITH THE SPROCKET SET UP IM GOOD ON HIGHWAY BUT LOOKING FOR MORE POWER I HAVE A PIPE SPROCKETS AND A BIGGER JET I WANT DO IDK CAMS IGNITION IDK WHAT TO DO WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
If you sell let me know. I’d love to have it to get to the mine. I need something I can get in and out on. Last dirtbike was an ATK 406. I’m looking for 4 stroke trail now.
I actually just bought an 03 ttr250 for $1200 from my bud. It don’t idle right and it looks a little rough so I’m working on it. Right now the carb is laying out in the garage as I’m waiting for the rest of the carb kit which comes today. This helped thank you.
No XT250 was a competitor to XR250. Yamaha TTR250 is DOHC motors superior to Honda XR250 RFVC that was notorious for top end and valve problems which Yamaha had none of. Three times the life of XR250.
I have a ttr 250 and in my opinion it is better than the xr 250r the xr only has 5 speeds weighs 128 kilograms it's sohc the ttr has 6 speeds weighs 112 kilograms it is dohc Ttr is better

I just got one for 1900 street legal and perfect condition. I cruise around with traffic at 70. Love the suspension
Woah from where?
Private seller in Virginia
Im in va too where u from? How hard was it to dual sport?
Yours goes 70?!
I'm 6'3" 250# and can get mine up to 60, max. My gf rides it and goes faster, she's about 135#.

Blessed, I got one for my first bike here in Australia, even has the factory kick start if I ever get stuck in the bush.
I dont have a 2004 ttr but i do have a 2004 crf250r and she barks and eatsssssssssss😏👌
I looked at them in 2000 new ones almost bought one
Those bikes are excellent.. 👍🏍👍
WR 250 is liquid cooled. Changed over to aluminum frame in 2007 I believe
Yes correct 👍
I just bought a 03 one and i cant wait to ride it. I got it for $1300 and it is in good condition.
Really miss the reliability of Yamaha and Honda
When you say was the last years of honda and yamaha being good? ( so i know which to buy)

$1000 to $1500 is fair if it needs work. For a clean one is about $2500 to $3000

Did you have to get a kit for blinkers etc?

Does this use the same frame as the dt125 .
They are electric or combined electric and kick start, never kick start alone.
Probably the best trail bike in its class.
Totally agree 👍
Super awesome video

Clean 💯💣
duhh washed it for the vid 2 tell us the weather 🤷♂️ it's never been drove posted this vid as proof it has zero miles 🤣
