I think at the very least he should be demoted for not adhering to the laws he promised to enforce when he became an officer of the law. "I'm the sheriff" Then you should know better, the fine should be far higher for sheriffs.
Agreed, but that's not how the law works. In nearly every state, the Sheriff is almost entirely above the law.
isn’t this technically abuse of power? or does that not apply to them and him mentioning he’s a sheriff some form of intimidation
Absolutely it is abuse of power. He was essentially being a bully.
Absolutely, it is "Intimidating a Police Officer in my state. Would have definitely been time to get my Chief on the phone. Good thing he had a body camera. As a sheriff and higher ranked policeman, he should be more compliant and humble to give the example. Nobody is above the law and the officer should've handed him a ticket for speeding, there's nothing wrong with that.
And the sheriff only apologizes because the encounter was made public, if not he wouldn't apologize nor care. Such a disgrace and shame.
I agree, that cop was a softy... Should have finished his job and duty.
He probably isnt a softy but when you work in an organization with bureaucracy like military and police it's hard to stand up to rank because it can affect your livelihood. I've never been police but in the military you don't wear bodycams so at the end of the day it would be lower rankings word against a superior so you can imagine how that might go. I can almost guarantee tee tho officer probably had a lot of things he wanted to say but chose better judgment to save his ass in the long run. Now the police chief and mayor know what kind of leader he is all be it might not make a difference but that is simply and assumption.
@@kennethmoya9444 you should see the female cop give a ticket to a chief.... Nothing happened to her because of it. She had more balls than this cop for standing her ground.

I agree, the cop should of gave him a ticket.
He is so disrespectful. Shouldn't be a cop and especially overseeing a people under his watch.
Because the sheriff is an elected official, it would be difficult to remove him from his job. He can't just be fired. A judge may be able to remove him from his duties because he committed a crime. That is an unmarked vehicle.
Does it make a difference if it was an unmarked vehicle or not?? I think at the very least he should be demoted for not adhering to the laws he promised to enforce when he became an officer of the law. How can someone be an officer of the law if they don't respect it?? I feel like he should at the very least be investigated or demoted. Why isn't it a crime to not provide identification when asked?? Don't regular people get in trouble for doing that same thing? I have no criminal record so I don't know much about getting in trouble but I feel like in my state at least, I have seen people in the court section of the newspaper having been issued fines for not providing proper ID. That being said, I almost never carry mine on me because I lose everything lol. Only when I need it do I bring it with me. I also know my ID number though which has helped me in the past.
Lets not forget the payout as well
@@xbrandi12345x No one is required to carry I.D., other than a drivers licence when driving.

@@imnotabotrlyimnot They actually changed the laws in NC years back to where you do not need to have your drivers license on you to drive.
I lost my wallet once and I said to the officer who was called out, “I’m sorry I’m driving without a license.” The officer looked up from what he was doing with such a look of shock and alarm. As if he was dealing with a well-seasoned criminal, disguised as a girl in a sundress who gives police officers four leaf clovers. “Oooh, because of your wallet,” and then informed me of the change. He assumed it was suspended or revoked automatically.
Him refusing to comply with the officer who stopped him tells me that he thinks he’s above the law. He took an oath to protect the constitution of the US and his State and he broke that oath. Release him of his duties.
Because he is "Sheriff" he feels he is above a police officer. I hope that county has news for him.
Any and everything he’s ever done while on duty need to be investigated. He has a very bad/cocky attitude.

Yep - any investigation he’s involved with from now on will be tainted. All the defense will have to do is show this video in court to destroy his character and call into question the entirety of the investigation. He needs to resign to let the office save some face.
