Steve Jobs used to talk about the 'brand bank', where if your company does something good, it's like a deposit, and if you do something bad, it withdraws a bit of brand value.
I think they've just been withdrawing for the past 15 years, and there's really not much left in there.

It does make me wonder how boring other companies are when they have to copy Apple's design every so often

They reached a good point and being forced to innovate can generate stuff like the gimmicky camera button on iphone 16 , heavy iphones and downgraded iOS experiences. Jobs was in a era where apple products still had plenty or future to add stuff

we feel as if tech this days are boring as tech as it is is kind of peaking. sometimes were bored and we think we can excite ourselves with a new iphone but you just didnt get the excitement you wanted but the truth is, we all live boring and uneventful lives and a new phone cant cure that but you think it can so you do but then you have to come to the fact that, life SUCKS... AND THEN YOU DIE... (maybe a little dark but its the unfortunate truth)

I want Android 4 back. But Apple's minimalist approach made everything that followed boring. Whenever I factory reset the Google Playstore I can hear my heart ripping in half. Apple, Android, Microsoft - uninspired, boring nonsense.
Edit: Looks like Android 12+ devices don't have the stock Android 4 Playstore. That hurts.

Apple products are the default now, they have no need (or no ability) to innovate or differentiate themselves. The consumer electronics market is more mature and so deeply ingrained in modern life and culture that I highly doubt they will ever create a straight up successor/replacement product category to the iPhone or Mac
