Such a great video Jon. I'm 28, I heard about X roughly 6 months before he died. I was blown away. I really thought this young man was something special. I listened to him alot from then on. When I heard he'd been killed it really brought tears to my eyes. RIP Jah. Amazing young artist.

28:02 in case you were wondering what Ayala means or why the song is called like that, it’s his ex-girlfriend’s last name. (Geneva is her first name.) The one who tore him apart so much by cheating on him to the point he never forgot about her, and in his newest music video “Moonlight”, the girl with the curls is believed to represent her. He probably still loved her and was in love with her till the day he died. It’s sad because I think he was never really happy, and on top of that had to die at only 20 smh... it’s been like 4 months and I still cannot believe it.

It's crazy, my little brother put me on to X last February then he died in March at 20. Fast forward a little over a year later, X stays in my rotation and he is killed at 20. I think X was caught between what he envisioned himself becoming and what a lot of the media portrayed him as. A great, incredible talent, with the potential to be an even greater man lost too soon.....

Everything with X was deliberate, he always did the creative design for his songs, that drum on save me was met certainly his idea
It’s funny, I broke up with my ex girlfriend last summer and would only listen to X and Mac Miller to get through those times, crying listening to them. It’s crazy how they both ended up passing. They got me through those times and I will always listen to them until the day I die. My future children will know who these people are and their music will live on.

Dead inside was recorded on a phone and it was just him singing over a piano in the studio. He posted it on his Instagram and it was added in as an interlude because it was shown so much love and the quality adds to the dark vibe of the whole album.

i feel through watching this it’s almost hard to be happy and excited about the immense talent in such a young human being because of the harsh reality that he was ripped from the world, as someone who’s been listening to him since he was only on sound cloud i want to say thank you for “reacting” in such a mature and humble way. rest in peace jahseh 🖤
John, you and me have a similar taste or at least we get what was going on with this album and can appreciate it. When it first came out people knew that he was special but as good as he was, there was a lot of criticism of the mumbling, the short album and even shorter of time of songs, along with the fact that it didn’t quite fit in the rap genre and the news with his girl... overall it wasn’t well received, same with ?, everybody said it wasn’t polished or complete.
Never got that unpolished tracks gave X that raw feeling that made him connect to his fans on such a deeper level. I have the entire 17 album and most of ?. Nothing with X having a melody could ever fail to make my phone. Btw Everybody dies in their Nightmares was a track I was listening to for the first time on the way to work and literally yelled at my car speaker as to why it was so short. I can’t wait to hear whatever else X left behind. He and Chester from Linkin Park are the 2 biggest losses I have had from the music industry in recent times and this is from a 34 yr old. Thanks for the reaction, shame Simon couldn’t be a part of it but I love the way you explained everything. I’m going to have to check out that Elliot guy, you keep on mentioning him soooo will hit you up on Twitter after I’m done checking him out ✌🏻

X was one of my favourite artists, thankfully I found PAPITHBK who is very similar, he’s somewhat underground but he’s definitely going to blow up soon (x commented on his Instagram and x’s mum also knows of him)

Still a great reaction, and seeing that you was at work when Elliot Smith died hits home because i was at work and also got the news X died and it did effect my day and even my life today. I had X on repeat the whole next few months even after his death. Someone in the music industry who death actually did make me cry and just wanna say thank you for opening up to us about your rough times as well.

Seriously, thank you for doing this. The video took me back to the day the album was released and I listened to it for the first time. One of the few (If not the only) albums I exactly remember what I felt while listening. It is sometimes really difficult seeing someone loose his life so early. I truly think that to some he really felt like a close friend, although they actually didn't know him in person. He seemed so down to earth and approachable, especially in his upcoming days at the end of 2016

There is just something so special about seeing the way x touched so many people to this day. It just brings me to tears everytime.
If you haven’t listened to them yet listen to Illmatic by Nas and Food and Liquor by Lupe Fiasco. Two of the best rap albums of all time.
I think what makes X so great was his versatility, mixed with his his heart (Among other things of-course). Its amazing to think he was putting out music at such a young age, at such a high level. Not only that, but every genre he did he fucking killed. When he rapped he sat among the best rappers of our generation, especially when you think of other 'hot' artists at this time like lil pump. He could do metal, pop, prog, and just straight up sad tracks that created so much emotion, and resignated with so many others. He for sure was the best artist of our generation in my opinion. Alot of artists from this generation cant do one genre at X's level, let alone all the other genres he could do at the same level if not higher. The last point is his age. he was so young, and I honestly can't disagree that given more time he would have been the biggest artist in the world. I would have loved seeing the rest of his journey pan out and see where he could have gotten.. but sometimes life throws a curveball I guess. I get this comment is very long but with an artist like X who had an impact on myself and so many others I honestly don't care how long this is or how long it takes. Seeing JD the Prophets reaction brought back alot of those feelings, so I thought id write this while in my feelings watching this reaction. I got to know about X in late 2015 or 2016 idk when exactly but never listened to him up until september 2017 (i honestly was on a "old head" trip back then, and didn't like "look at me", so i didn't even bother to check the rest of his music)
But then in august 17, before we had to go to a language course for a month (i was 19 back then), the one homie said to me "i know you don't like 'look at me' or that type of music, but check out X's '17' album" and he showed me a snippet of Jocelyn Flores. I was blown away, that the same dude, who made look at me over that holy water sample, made that beautiful song. A month later, during language course, he showed it again, cause i forgot it, and we listened that whole album again and again and again and again. X grew to be my favorite rapper of my generation (/my age class). And when he got killed we were all learning for math finals. Long story short, i definitely didn't learn a thing after i heard the news. I was devastated... R.I.P. X aka Jahseh 🙏🏻🕊
