People are racist due to having bad experiences with other races or because they hold negative stereotypes to other races. My take is that SW is not NSBM but isn’t exactly opposed to it either. CSM was the last album that contained NS lyrics and it came out nearly 2 decades ago. Even for those kind of lyrics, SW has claimed that it’s for shock value and that he’s not racist or fascist. But SW is associated with several outright NS bands like Goatmoon, Aryan Blood, Gestapo 666. Rejecting Semitic religions and advocating pre-Christian heathen traditions is what he has in common with the NSBM scene. I guess we can call SW NSBM-adjacent, which I’m personally okay with as I avoid bands that are full blown racists.

I think there was a moment in Europe somewhere around 2013-2104 when a lot of nsbm bands stopped labling themselves as nsbm, not so much that their political views changed but it more or less went out of fashion in terms of labeling. Im a swede and to me and basically everyone in the black metal scene here its just accepted as comon knowledge that Satanic Warmaster is NS (i mean ”My dreams of 8” haha, i dont think he is connected to a political movement though?). My italian friends was touring Finland recently and got a bunch of shit coments from Mr Werewolf about them not being white, not that they give a shit about his opinions, but it stuck to my mind. This video is interesting though because i think that there is generelly a bit of difference between America and Europe when it comes to these discussions. Since half of Europe was bombed to pieces and mass genocide did happen, i think people here are less likely to give these bands the benefit of the doubt. Goatmoon definitely is racist. You don't have to do a lot of research to find that out. You can literally google Goatmoon and one of the first things you see is a swastika and other racist symbols and most of their music contains racist / NS lyrics. Satanic Warmaster also has an EP with swastikas on the cover and he has had some questionable lyrics and song titles in the past. Even if a band isn't explicitly racist, they still might often use dog whistles that point towards racist and right wing extremist beliefs. To be honest most of the finnish black metal scene is pretty sketchy and I'm from Finland myself.

Last point I want to make. I'm a Christian and I don't push it on nobody and I have no problem with satanic metal because to be honest, one, I'm not the one who has to answer to God if he turns out to be real, and second, I love ultra guttural vocals and high screams, so I don't know what any particular band is saying without reading the lyrics. I find that I enjoy the music more when I don't read the lyrics or listen to interviews with certain bands because I don't agree with 90% of a lot of stuff that bands I like believe or say. For instance I specifically don't like that acab mentality because my father and other family members are retired from the police force and I respect everyone individually until they don't deserve it. To believe all cops are bad is in itself a form of discrimination, it's no different than judging one by skin color. I don't even know why I have to explain this to anyone. But just because I don't like a bands politics, religious stance or anything like that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the music. In fact I don't want to always be only around people who think and exactly like me. I can't enjoy the good things without being exposed to the bad things which makes me appreciate it more

As a Christian, I listen to and support tons of music with blasphemous lyrics and imagery. I obviously don’t agree with it and I’m personally against that kind of thing, but I don’t try to ruin it for everyone else, and I don’t see a lot of Christians trying to do this to the metal scene. But all of these Jews, blacks, gays, Muslims, etc. want to get anything that speaks against their views censored and ostracized from the scene. They need to suck it up like I did or get out of metal!

I really don't think it's fair to compare Cannibal Corpse and Deicide writing music about gore and killing Christians to NS bands writing about perserving the aryan race and killing degenerates. The former most often dont ACTUALLY believe in killing and mutilating people, and if they do, they certainly aren't acting on it. NS artists are very serious about their racism and bigotry and they use their music to spread those messages and bring people around to their cause. Sure, some of them might claim to be "apolitical" as a way of saving face, but when they're consistently writing overtly racist, antisemetic, anti LGBT, anti immigrant music they're obviously political. It's really not that hard to avoid doing business with these people, the great thing about extreme metal is that it's enormously diverse, and NS bands only represent a tiny minority of artists out there. Besides, its not like avoiding them will censor their music from existence, there's still NS labels they can sign with, and hell, if we really wanna hear the music without supporting them, we can just download it online. I really think you should rethink your position on this, you're only bringing bad PR to your business with the position you're taking

If it was a matter of historical record and was being told from the perspective of the one doing the killing, I mean when you watch a movie with the good guys vs the bad guys and the characters playing the bad guy uses racist language, do you say that the actor is racist for reading of his lines from the script or is the film maker screen writer racist for including it in his film. And what if the film is detailing actual events as they were documented. The problem with people today is they lack logic and reason. Just because a band has a swastika on their album, does that make them racist. What if the concept was exposing crimes by racist regimes or something like that. Anyways I don't know any bands that are into that area of music. I listen to deathgrind and goregrind. So it's mostly pathological gore and porno goregrind.

Hails, I-Dawg! A couple of questions that are closely related to each other here. What happened with the double LP releases of the HH sampler compilations? I remember seeing a couple of those on LP and buying them immediately and they had great artwork that was a tribute to metal classics (one was all classic Black Sabbath and the other was Slayer). Then there was the one with the Fallen Angel of Doom tribute art, which I got on CD, but to my knowledge, the LP release never happened, although it appears to have been planned. Did I miss it somehow? Also, why did the first two Hell's Headbash shows get DVD releases, but the third one didn't? Those were some cool DVD releases and I have both. I can't imagine that I just missed a DVD for the third one. Or did I somehow? Anyway, keep being J-Dawg/I-Dawg/Justin and putting out these videos. Tell Reaper to get back to some Hellcast too. And yes, people want to hear your stories about Konya and various bands HH have worked with, etc. Never met Konya, unfortunately, but I am a longtime Nunslaughter fan. What you mentioned about separation of church and state made me think of separation of art and artist too. Some Antifa criticism seems to be not really based on obvious racism in lyrics, but on an artist’s character or history. Which brings to mind Wagner and also Inquisition. The character flaws of the human are not promoted in the music itself. I might think twice about being friends or hiring them as baby sitters, but that’s not their role in my life. My take is that SW is not NSBM but isn’t exactly opposed to it either. CSM was the last album that contained NS lyrics and it came out nearly 2 decades ago. Even for those kind of lyrics, SW has claimed that it’s for shock value and that he’s not racist or fascist. But SW is associated with several outright NS bands like Goatmoon, Aryan Blood, Gestapo 666. Rejecting Semitic religions and advocating pre-Christian heathen traditions is what he has in common with the NSBM scene. I guess we can call SW NSBM-adjacent, which I’m personally okay with as I avoid bands that are full blown racists.

I think there was a moment in Europe somewhere around 2013-2104 when a lot of nsbm bands stopped labling themselves as nsbm, not so much that their political views changed but it more or less went out of fashion in terms of labeling. Im a swede and to me and basically everyone in the black metal scene here its just accepted as comon knowledge that Satanic Warmaster is NS (i mean ”My dreams of 8” haha, i dont think he is connected to a political movement though?). My italian friends was touring Finland recently and got a bunch of shit coments from Mr Werewolf about them not being white, not that they give a shit about his opinions, but it stuck to my mind.
This video is interesting though because i think that there is generelly a bit of difference between America and Europe when it comes to these discussions. Since half of Europe was bombed to pieces and mass genocide did happen, i think people here are less likely to give these bands the benefit of the doubt. Specially if you come up with a title called ”Gas Chambers”- thats going to stick over here.

Goatmoon definitely is racist. You don't have to do a lot of research to find that out. You can literally google Goatmoon and one of the first things you see is a swastika and other racist symbols and most of their music contains racist / NS lyrics. Satanic Warmaster also has an EP with swastikas on the cover and he has had some questionable lyrics and song titles in the past. Even if a band isn't explicitly racist, they still might often use dog whistles that point towards racist and right wing extremist beliefs. To be honest most of the finnish black metal scene is pretty sketchy and I'm from Finland myself.

To believe all cops are bad is in itself a form of discrimination, it's no different than judging one by skin color. I don't even know why I have to explain this to anyone. But just because I don't like a bands politics, religious stance or anything like that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the music. I really don't think it's fair to compare Cannibal Corpse and Deicide writing music about gore and killing Christians to NS bands writing about perserving the aryan race and killing degenerates. The former most often dont ACTUALLY believe in killing and mutilating people, and if they do, they certainly aren't acting on it. NS artists are very serious about their racism and bigotry and they use their music to spread those messages and bring people around to their cause. Sure, some of them might claim to be "apolitical" as a way of saving face, but when they're consistently writing overtly racist, antisemetic, anti LGBT, anti immigrant music they're obviously political.
It's really not that hard to avoid doing business with these people, the great thing about extreme metal is that it's enormously diverse, and NS bands only represent a tiny minority of artists out there. Besides, its not like avoiding them will censor their music from existence, there's still NS labels they can sign with, and hell, if we really wanna hear the music without supporting them, we can just download it online. I really think you should rethink your position on this, you're only bringing bad PR to your business with the position you're taking

If it was a matter of historical record and was being told from the perspective of the one doing the killing, I mean when you watch a movie with the good guys vs the bad guys and the characters playing the bad guy uses racist language, do you say that the actor is racist for reading of his lines from the script or is the film maker screen writer racist for including it in his film. And what if the film is detailing actual events as they were documented. The problem with people today is they lack logic and reason. Just because a band has a swastika on their album, does that make them racist. What if the concept was exposing crimes by racist regimes or something like that. Anyways I don't know any bands that are into that area of music. I listen to deathgrind and goregrind. So it's mostly pathological gore and porno goregrind.

Hails, I-Dawg! A couple of questions that are closely related to each other here. What happened with the double LP releases of the HH sampler compilations? I remember seeing a couple of those on LP and buying them immediately and they had great artwork that was a tribute to metal classics (one was all classic Black Sabbath and the other was Slayer). Then there was the one with the Fallen Angel of Doom tribute art, which I got on CD, but to my knowledge, the LP release never happened, although it appears to have been planned. Did I miss it somehow? Also, why did the first two Hell's Headbash shows get DVD releases, but the third one didn't? Those were some cool DVD releases and I have both. I can't imagine that I just missed a DVD for the third one. Or did I somehow? Anyway, keep being J-Dawg/I-Dawg/Justin and putting out these videos. Tell Reaper to get back to some Hellcast too.
And yes, people want to hear your stories about Konya and various bands HH have worked with, etc. Never met Konya, unfortunately, but I am a longtime Nunslaughter fan. I remember the demos being out, but for one reason or another, I never got around to buying them at the time. First thing I got was the split 7" with Bloodsick. Great stuff. Red is the Color of Ripping Death is still showing Don and Co. kicking some ass.

Some Antifa criticism seems to be not really based on obvious racism in lyrics, but on an artist’s character or history. Which brings to mind Wagner and also Inquisition. A lot of those bands that get accused of being racist use some of that “questionable” imagery just for shock value and to keep posers away from their music. Also goatmoon says if they had to label themselves they would say they are “national romantic”.

I don’t care if those great bands are racist, it’s freedom of speech, should ask the terrible racist mainstream bands like Rage against the Machine.
You decide to be christian or muslim or whatever but you don't choose color of your skin or your gender. That's why racist and sexist bands shouldn't be welcome in metal community. Isn't it obvious? Especially, it becomes ludicrous when it goes to black metal. This is the genre to encourage solitude not following an idiology like a sheep in a herd (Nazism is an idiology, by the way). That's why NSBM never became popular back in 90s. It's the new generation that cannot tell fake from real. Even non -NS bands that Werwolf Record releases are mediocre. Look at Vargrav's Netherstorm for instance which youtubers shout it's as good as Emperor! I checked the band and didn't find any racist affiliation so decided to give it a listen. Holy crap! cannot beleive people put this album on their end-of-the-year list. Just listen to 4:41 of "Shadowed Secrets Unmasked" and tell me it's not shockingly similar to Dark Funeral's "Enriched by Evil" (1:43)! I don't expect much from youtubers but it came as a surprise when you compared Deicid's lyrics to these racist bands' lyrics. You should know better.
