This is when television was really worth watching especially Stars In Their Eyes when the show was an actual talent show unlike the 2015 revival hosted by Harry Hill where the show became more like an knockabout comedy show
Matthew Kelly is a difficult act to follow. There's just something about him and his enthusiasm before he packed it all in... Harry Hill really was a bad decision, all he's good at is larking about, and, in my view, it was a total desecration of a well-remembered TV title.
Very rare to get 'event' television like this. With X Factor gone, only tends to be season finales of The Traitor or Line of Duty where everyone sits down together with family and friends and watch the TV
This is when Saturday night television was really well worth watching like Gladiators Stars In Their Eyes Blind Date and The Crystal Maze all fun shows it is so different back then compared to what is nowadays where the shows was not full of criticism of any of it shows presenters or contestants unlike now
I recall seeing the big poster with Maxine Barry on the north pier as I lived in Blackpool at the time ,and I went and saw the legends show I went a few times as I had visitors from northern Ireland and a ranted and raved about how wonderful the show was my visitors were anxious to go and my aunt from Leyland went a few times mam insisted that Maxine was the real Shirley bassey even to this day she'll say do you remember seeing Shirley bassey in Blackpool and mum just turned 90 and fit as a fiddle still has her natural hair colour a tiny bit of grey
@@jennifertucker2581 She sure was. Nobody deserved to finish bottom but someone had to :D I also watched her (and Shirley Bassey and Marti 2) at an untelevised SITE charity reunion in Manchester back in 2018. Matthew Kelly hosted it. All three were just as good as in this champions special.
Bobby Darren should have won this not only did he sing it well he had the whole charisma that went with it also Neil Diamond came a very close second with Shirley Bassy in a very close third. Chris De Burg sang it well but there was no personally or charisma to his act and ive never understood how he got this far in the competition
Yep. But German Marti Pellow in the Euro Stars gives Marti 2 a run for his money. There was one in 1990 who was pretty good as well. Marti 1 the best lookalike at least :D
