  • We visited Ghost Town in the Sky Village in Maggie Valley North Carolina and looked around at what is left. We have great memories of visiting Maggie Valley growing up. Maggie Valley, situated in North Carolina's stunning Great Smoky Mountains, is known for its unrivaled location and friendly, small-town character. Do you. remember Ghost Town in the Sky? Now the closed down Ghost Town Village. Nearby, the forested Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to wildflowers and black bears. Paths include the Deep Creek Trail, which passes waterfalls. Cataloochee Ski Area has slopes and trails. The Wheels Through Time Museum has vintage motorcycles and rare cars. Blocks painted with vivid quilt patterns dot barns and buildings along the Haywood County Quilt Trails. Whats in Maggie Valley North Carolina? Will Ghost Town in the Sky Village ever open again? ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Click "Show More"

I remember going to Maggie Valley, Cherokee and Ghost Town with my family many, many years ago. When I was young Cherokee was the place to go and you just traveled through Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to get to Cherokee. How times have changed. I enjoy your videos and really appreciate you both proclaiming your faith openly. Wishing you many blessings.

Best memories of riding that ski lift to the top of the mountain. My Mom and her friend were scared of the ski lift so they rode the train. It looked like it went straight up the side of the mountain! And the cowboys at the top doing their shows. I miss it all!

Oh my goodness, I've always wondered if Ghost Town was still around. Sad to find out it's not. My husband and I went there many times before and after we married in '71. Kids from '74 - '85 always enjoyed it, too, when we would bring them. We always took the chair left, and got our picture taken and then you could buy it when you got to the top. The saloons with the can-can dancers and the daily gunfights were all so special. A couple of places to have pictures made in all the western clothes and hats. In the later years that we went, there was amusement rides in an area that were a lot of fun. The whole experience was great. Thanks for this video!

Our elementary school took us to Ghost Town. I don’t remember exactly how old i was, maybe 45-50 years ago. I recall the shootout on Main Street by the staff. It was my first chairlift ride. Loved it!

I love Maggie Valley!! When we go to the Smokey’s we always visit Maggie Valley. Ive been to Ghost Town in the sky a few times as a kid, late 60’s and 70’s. What a wonderful representation you’ve given our sweet, little valley town. Thank You! I’m so happy you enjoyed your day here. So many people loved Ghost Town. It currently is in talks & perhaps new ownership. An article in the paper last month told us that news. Since I’ve lived here that’s happened twice before & nothing ever came of it. We’ll see. We are so blessed to live here. Karen, a week from Sat we’re taking a short trip to Lancaster, PA to see Esther at Sight & Sound. But, thanks to you, we’re going to make a short stop to Big Stone Gap so I can relive those beautiful books. 🥰

Every year we went to Maggie Valley for our summer vacation. We stayed at the fabulous Scottish Inn! 😂. I am disappointed to see the gift shops are no longer tacky tourist draws and are just craft shops now. We got some GREAT and bizarre souvenirs. Wheels Through Time has to be one of the best attractions in Maggie Valley! I spent 4 1/2 hours there this past fall and I could've spent the whole day at least! They have some of the rarest motorcycles in the country there. The family and staff are awesome too. Sad so many of these wonderful, simple, attractions have fallen by the wayside. We had two such parks on either side of my hometown and one was put out of business by the other, which became a six flags...Having said this, Maggie Valley is a charming valley too, so pretty.

A much needed relaxing escape to Maggie Valley on this Friday morning. I always learn new things from the videos! I had never heard God Paused. That is so cool and has to be true with the beauty of Maggie Valley. I used to see Maggie walking the sidewalks waving in the yellow and red outfit. I unfortunately didn’t discover Ghost Town until one of the openings in maybe 2006. I loved it as an adult the view from the top is unforgettable. My cousin and I would beg to go to Ghost Town growing up along with Frontier Land in Cherokee. I still have no idea where that was located in Cherokee. I noticed you guys may have came into Maggie Valley from the interstate. It made me want Hot Springs!

Hey I really enjoyed this video!! My wife and I came here on our honeymoon July 28th 1979. I told Mary my wife that it looked stormy toward the top of the mountain when we were getting on the sky lift to go up. We have the pictures to show today taken from a kodak instamatic 110. When got about a little over half way up it came the awfulest storm of wind and rain and the wind blew so hard that the seat was swaying in the wind. The
rain poured down and when we got off we were completely soaked and water was squishing out of our shoes when we walked. We will never forget
that experience. I remember the people coming down the hill looked over at us laughing saying good luck, they knew we were going to get soaked. Thanks for this tour.

Thank you so much for this lovely video! My late husband and I used to vacation in that area every year back in the 80s, and that sky lift was the scariest ride for me! Poor Sam's arm had a bruise for days where I hung on for dear life! Love the mountains.

I remembered going there many many times back in the 70's. My parents knew the managers/Owners. We stayed at their house on top of the mountain. Loved the gun fight on the street. You could watch them make salt water taffy in the candy shop. Saloons with dancing girls. Sometimes the cowboy actors would show up in the saloon and start another fight. COOL. Many different shops to visit Hats, shoes, clothes etc. I enjoyed the music with the banjo's. I sure miss those days. I am trying to locate the managers and or their kids. Had a great time there

Yankeeinthesouth, and now I just saw a new one, Where's Timmy..they aren't very good. The guy in Where's Timmy complained that it was crowded but he and his wife are"big" people and they were pushing a two-seater baby carraige with two kids in it. Yeah, that will make it crowded!! Absolutely love your videos!!

So sad that ghost town in the sky has come to that , an old shell of the past. I remember my parents taking myself and my brothers back in 1977 watching the shootout in the street and riding all the rides. Now at 53 i took my kids up there about 17 yrs ago and GT was closed but they had a place on the opposite side of the road for tubing down the hill in January. Also remember bryson city had a train ride that took you on a tour and saw where they made the movie fugitive with Harrison ford. The smokies is just a beautiful place it takes the stress away from you and does something to your soul . Thanks for sharing👍👍

We visit Maggie Valley almost every year to escape the Florida heat. Shoot ... we'd almost make the trip just to eat at Joey's Pancake House. And, we discovered a very talented potter at The Different Drummer Pottery. And, there are lots of great side trips to take from Maggie Valley ... Cataloochee Valley, Waterrock Knob, or just cruising the tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway keep us entertained for days.

I am originally from Central Illinois. I now live in coastal North Carolina. I love Maggie's Valley. My husband and used to ride motorcycle there and camp out. My heart is in Maggie's Valley. When ever I go there I find myself taking great breaths and feeling at home at last. I have pictures off ghost town from 1960s. There were saloons and gun fights in the street. I have so many pictures. If we didn't camp out went to the other side Soco mountain and stayed there. I truly love the Smokey mountains. I feel such awareness of the Indian history and nature. If we stay in Bryson City we still go back to Maggie's Valley. Of course we love to go on up thru the Smokies to Tennessee. Such a beautiful place.

Some of these old places I have pics of me in front of when I was a child .. Some w my Parents who have both passed away. I have been able to watch this and show my own babies places my Parents took me when I was the oldest age.. He was amazed. My children never got to meet my parents, they are 10, 3 and 1.. So the 2 oldest got to see things I experienced w my mom and dad and what adventures they took me on. Including ghost town.. The chair lift.. Oh my and I have pics of me on those horses .. Oh my heart!! What a precious walk down memory lane.
