The best DJ I ever saw left the buttons alone and was the best because he perfectly matched every beat on technic 1200s. and his song selection was second to none .
It also depends on what kind of music you are mixing. All techniques don't work with every genre of music. I work in the techno genres (hard, psy-trance, etc). I find that too much in this, breaks the mix. But, hey, it works great with house type genres. Love your channel, Carlo.

I also use a DDJ-400 and therefore your tutorial leaves me with the following question: You demonstrated that you got to the beat slicer mode when you pressed the sampler button (the initial second function behind the sampler is key shift). Could you explain how you reached the beat slicer mode there? Because if I want to try and replay your transition I only reach the beat slicer mode, when I manually select it in the record box software - which is pointless by the speed which is required here. Or has it something to do with the version of the software or the software plan? Cheers Sören
Waiting on my hp envy pc to arrive. Torned between the ev etx 18sp and the qsc sub for the house and potential gigs in the future. Right now this is a hobby for me. I think the EV elx200 18sp may be too weak. I know the qsc brings the heat but haven't heard an etx model in person yet. Money I'm not spending on American women. Speakers will still be providing joy 20 years from now and cause me zero stress.
@@djcarlo thanks. I received the qsc ks118 on Tuesday night. Couldn't get anyone to go pick it up so i called an uber xl and put it in the back of a toyota highlander for 25 bucks. Who needs friends? So far I'm happy but it feels like the qsc subwoofer isn't even being pushed by the flx4 signal. Is this where a mixer helps unlock power to get more out of your speakers? The hp envy laptop is amazing and has been running flawlessly for 2 weeks now. My tops are ev zlx 12bt speakers. Sound system sounds great. Why did i choose the qsc sub or the ev one? Because the EV one limits early. Sound was very similar but at the store the default qsc at unity was as loud as the EV at first limit. So in the name of space and headroom to push i got the QSC. Just that at home i can't seek to get the QSC to limit even with the gain maxed out. Is this something a mixer helps with? To get more out of your hardware?
I think a better comparison would have been phrasing and key matching. Mixing on phrases and reading the crowd are what signifies a pro DJ for me. Cool video tho FX are always fun especially when im sauced lmao
@@djcarlo i want to see if all your techniques transfer over to latin genre. Most of the time latin dj's let the whole song play or they blend in the new song with minor effect or filter from what i seen.
I never really cared to use effects but i do care about having at least 3 track decks to work with. Im big with using lots of hot cues or messing with the speed of a song and throwing over a drum track to change the energy of the track. Sometimes you can find a track with a nice bassline and it might sound cool if its sped up or slowed down. People have heard my sets thinking im a amazing dj but the truth is i do very little and i always think of myself as average. The most talented djs i believe to be those dmc scratch champions, i see what they do and im like holy shit thats amazing.

That’s very true! This is running off the assumption that you’ve already mastered track selection. Here, I’ve mastered selecting tracks that won’t get my video blocked haha
I was at a new years house party with open Decks and played hardtecjno from my SoundCloud for 2 Hours. Never touched a Controller before and the ppl liked it :)
It's more of a stylistic choice really, but I prefer cutting the lows so the bass frequencies don't clash. It's much more obvious when you're in clubs, and you hear the kick drum getting louder haha
For me the second option was overkill and the first was timed poorly, something i’ve learned in my journey so far is to not overuse effects, it can take away from the song! And for the first transition, you can blend the songs for longer and make it sound really cool. ❤️
I think it's obvious, the first was taco bell, the second was the golden corral. Good to not be as plain as the former, but not too much of everything like the later.
Hey, I am practicing on CDJ3000s on tribexr (I have an oculus) and I was wondering if there is a way to do slicing like this on the CDJs as well. Ive read somewhere that it might not be possible? So far Ive tried it with hotcues, but that fills them up pretty quickly! Oh and just play button with slip mode on for the vynil spindown
It should be easier to do on a pair of CDJs, though I'm not sure how they'll carry over into TribeXR. It might be possible, but with some difficulty as you'll need to see your laptop to nail all the FX

In my opinion the difference between beginner and pro dj has nothing to do with technical skills (which btw you can acquire in less than a few days). Everything is in first, the selection and then : feeling, crowd reading and adaptability. And that takes years to master 😉.
Second DJ, the so called pro is what I always hated when I was out dancing back in the day, some dj ruining every song with extended build-ups, hickups in the climax, overlapping parts when the best part is about to come, never letting climax come in favor of non-stop build-ups etc. No thank you, the first one do the trick for me.

I don’t understand what you did with the second mix at all. The track you bring in looks like it’s not playing, but somehow turning the cfx knob and moving the fader did something… and the echo effect too but I know it could be set to the left track. Probably just missing something but very confused.
Great questions! The filter (CFX) knob works even without another song playing. The flanger/filter you hear in the Pro segment isn't part of any songs. As for leaving the lows/bass both up, taking one away while using the beat slicer and other pad fx would've resulted in no bass at all

You'll just need to remap it in the midi settings to allow it to work. Afterwards, you can use the sampler mode for beat slicer

It's not about whether you're a beginner or a pro. These are two different techniques that create different moods when listening to the mix.

The Color FX knob activates the filter without any track on it, so I was using the fader to cut the filter sound hehe

Track ID for the second song 😇?
Unfortunately, I forgot what the track was called :(
I don’t understand what you did with the second mix at all. The track you bring in looks like it’s not playing, but somehow turning the cfx knob and moving the fader did something… and the echo effect too but I know it could be set to the left track. Probably just missing something but very confused.

Great questions! The filter (CFX) knob works even without another song playing. The flanger/filter you hear in the Pro segment isn't part of any songs. As for leaving the lows/bass both up, taking one away while using the beat slicer and other pad fx would've resulted in no bass at all

There is, but as long as you don't blast at the reds, you should be okay.
