      The thing that really confused me was the poster in the store, it said "FREKVENS" on top but below it said "No WiFi, no worries", you can see it at about 2:28 I mean this thing totally works with bluetooth ok so no WiFi is needed but BT and WiFi are technically about the same thing so if you are worried about WiFi you should be worried about BT as well. Maybe that's what they want to address with the "tin foil clothing" ... hmmm? I don't know, it's weird just like the whole Frekvens line seems to be ;-)

    • @OmairArif
      @OmairArif 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheNightstalker80 I think the "No Wifi, no worries" is to promote the fact that it is bluetooth, and you can therefore use it anywhere, not just at home. Which is the opposite of the Ikea SYMFONISK speakers, which due to the collaboration with Sonos, are Wifi only.

    Teenage engineering? Well ... at 69 years of age, I'm thinking it's for me too. Maybe it's time finally ... to get just a bit weird as well. So thanks for the tip off Stu. I'm off right now to IKEA to buy a totally bizarre collection of stuff I never knew I needed. I mean, I'm kind of fed up of going to IKEA just to buy yet another Billy bookcase module. Oh and eat some meatballs. With Lingonberry jam. Of course. Wife will be wondering WTF when I arrive back home of course. But hey ... I'm thinking it's never too late to fulfil her suspicions that I've finally lost it. And a great opportunity to fill our home with some totally pointless audio shit at the same time! And yes, the metal effect hoodie jacket is a must.

    Teenage engineering are known for the one and only OP-1 synth/4track recorder/idea generator. It’s literally one of a kind and I can’t think anything has come out with that is anything close to it. It’s rather expensive, but the quality and what you get in a tiny tiny package is amazing, although limiting at the same time. And I love their design language as well, very Braun/bang&olufsen design that’s retro and minimalist. They also make tiny little drum machines/ synths that are cheap and the size of a calculator.

    Teenage Engineering makes music instruments that also don't make a whole lot of sense to a lot of people. A lot of compromises are made to make them unnecessarily compact and they're véry expensive. I do like these speakers, but they're so limited you can't order them and only 1 store in my country has them. I'm not traveling a whole afternoon just to try these because they look kinda neat. But that's okay, by the time most people have heard of these they will be sold out and Ikea will have had some free advertisement on TH-cam from reviewers. Same happened with some other collabs.

    Looks freakishly cool but think that spot light would annoy me after 30 seconds, plus it sticks out too much. I’d keep the light display though maybe

    Demm you Stu. Now I want the coat 😂. Loved the review. Specially the catwalk bit in the end. Only made me want that coat more tho. And what are those sunglasses. They match perfectly with that coat. Thought you walked straight out of bladerunner😎

      Haha! At £15 it’s a bargain! 🌞👌. Those glasses are my snow glasses! They’re great when it’s super bright and reflecting off the snow... a little steampunk, but oh well! 🤷‍♂️

    I think this looks awesome and certainly will be looking to get one at some point. However, they did tease a turntable to be available with this range too but so far no word on it. Hopefully it's not been cancelled...
    I personally love the design though; very Hacienda (as in the legendary Manchester nightclub)

    • @DaveFlash
      @DaveFlash 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      well the turntable is a no-show at this point, also the entire range is limited edition available to some point in August according to ikea rep.

      The chocolates goodness that is Ardbeg! It’s on my ‘to buy’ list, but I’ve got a few above it! (It still makes my top 5 though) 🥃

  • @crcomments8509

    That belt clip speaker is my worst nightmare, in my day it was bad enough hearing a bit of sound from the original personal stereo orange headphones. Now the the teenagers seem to think it’s acceptable to play their music in public from the tinny speakers on their phones and now this thing. At least the sound from the big Stereo Radio Cassette decks of the eighties and nineties sounded Ok, and if they didn’t the batteries only lasted 5 minutes anyway.
