    Hans is in a unique position to explain High Drive in Personal Protection . Hans sold Me a Dog that had Very High Drives ( Prey & Defense ) and was Great in Protection Training . Our Trainer noted this to the group class and Our Dog was ALWAYS The Best Dog In The Group . And for that - I will always be grateful to Hans and Alpine K9 !!!

    Thank you, Hans, for sharing your valuable information regarding the versatility of GSDs. I have also encountered individuals who claim that the methods I employ are outdated, contrasting with their use of modern techniques for training protection dogs.

      If it works as nature intended it, then it is not outdated.

    I believe Hans is correct. I like to hear all dog training stories from various trainers however I am 50 now and Hans solves many questions I had and makes personal protection a possible option for handlers who want that instead of only doing sports and hearing from sports trainers that most dogs cant do personal protection however all along the perspective was incorrect because with correct training more dogs could do the work of civilian personal protection.

      I'm glad you're enjoying the discussions about dog training and personal protection.
      It's not just about a dog's breed or genetics but more about the right training approach. It shows that more dogs could excel in personal protection with the correct training, challenging the idea that only certain dogs are suitable for this work.

    This is 100% true my GSD doesn't have super drive 24/7 but that's not what wins you fights on the streets. Its when something is coming after you and your dog defends everything in a circle radius. Not to go looking for it but to back up whats the eminent Danger. I live in a very dangerous neighborhood. And I'm telling you from whats really going on out here. Hes been on two security details so far. And saved someone's life with Narcan rescue. And from what I've been told it's the first reported in the hospital network.

      This is 100% what a ppd should be in my opinion. My male gsd has hey prey drive but he is supremely intelligent and his prey drive is only focused on animals. In 9 years together he has never chased a human once and shows no signs of interest in it but he will chase a rabbit and kill it with brutal efficiency but only after I allow him to give chase. If he sees one he will sit and wait, he looks from me to the prey and if I don’t say anything he won’t move, if I say leave it he will forget it and if I say get it or free he will get it. With humans he is indifferent unless you act aggressive or make an aggressive move. With other dogs he will watch them and if they don’t invade our space of 5’ or so he will remain calm, if they come inside of 5’ focused on us or aggressively he will destroy them with command or not but as soon as the other dog submits or retreats he will stop and return to me. This is all instinct and my limited unprofessional training.

      I should of listened to hans about getting a malinois. I got a top bloodline malinois. And shes dangerous as hell! But I still feel my GSD is a better all around dog. And a guy tried mugging us. And it was my GSD who led the dance ASAP.

    Where is the point of intersection where prey and defence come together
    as in the scenario a dog would hunt in prey catch a animal and obviously the animal will be fighting for its life to escape the dog would have to fight and go through adversity to close the deal
    So are prey and defence combined in this scenario?

    • @hans-alpinek9real
      @hans-alpinek9real  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are looking for a moderate pup which hangs in the middle of the crowd of the litter and has prey x defense = 50 :50 and in moderate absolute value .

    Original German Shepherd worked and escourted sheep and gaurded sheep thats more defense that prey driven. Also a shepherd dog needs balance in drives cause high prey drive like a terrier could kill baby lambs or be distracted by small wild life and run off and leave the flock of sheep. Vs high prey driven military and police type dog for work is not natural type of work for a dog. Vs civilians owner who wants a shepherd companion dog to defend them.

      True but a sport dogs needs to be a bit over the top in terms of prey drive

    In modern times, with the people becoming more woke(stupid) as time goes by, we’re people prefer being told what they want to hear instead of the truth, being called an ‘obsolete trainer’ is actually a very good compliment, most trainers will not teach these methods because the people whose dogs they get paid to train are too stupid & weak minded to get & maintain the respect of the dog & therefore it would be irresponsible for them to own such a dog, your everyday dog trainer knows this so they train they’re incompetent customers in inferior ways, providing them with inferior dogs to match the inferior abilities of they’re owners, so everybody is safe, Han’s training is for real world application, woke people live in a fake bubble PC world, they’re allergic to reality, so of course they disagree with Han’s methods. Being real & being woke are opposing vectors, they never align, most dog owners own dogs that are smarter than themselves, the dog gets the owner to fetch the ball.

      True words. It is a cultural demise. The resistance I get when I say something true and logical is bewildering.
