The black straps are tourniquets. We used to keep them in our ankle pockets in case we needed them. The thing that that looks like a playing card is a large challenge coin used to commemorate Delta Company Task Force 1-66th Armor's tour to Afghanistan. Each member of of the company would off got one.

On the military object that you were wondering about. Units typically have challenge coins and things like this that they give out to some who has done them a good service. This vet probably worked for or did something for the unit that is displayed on object. This is why unit owners name isn’t on it. Usually they are coins. An example of this is a unit commanders coin with unit and current commanders name on it. The commanders give their coins out for outstanding performance in units. This is a cool find. I would google the unit displayed with challenge coin with it and see.

Also those black nylon straps with the metal "bar" on them are tourniquets. Good to have on hand.

When a soldier deploys and they live in the barracks (young and unmarried) they have to "clear out" their barracks room and store their belongings. The digital pattern you found in the unit is not what is worn "in theatre". So it would make sense that his gear would be stored with his other belongings. It's highly likely that that unit was owned by a soldier KIA.

That gold bar may be like those coins. A token given to a soldier. Given lettering on the bar, it could be the owner was part of the Colorado Task Force. He also may have served during Operation Enduring Freedom (oef lettering on the top under the captains name). This is mostly a wild guess.... I've never seen anything like that.

As someone is your comments stated it is a type of challenge coin. They are given out for doing exceptionally well during a mission and tour. They are also made and given out to remember guys that may have died during a tour or particular mission. As far as the black strap things that you found the are tourniquets. If wounded in the arm or leg, they would put these on above the wound and twist the "black bar" till tight to control the bleeding so the soldier did not bleed out. I suggest having a couple in a car and knowing how to use them incase you're in a bad accident or come upon a bad accident and need to slow/stop bleeding. They also come in handy is bitten by a poisonous snake. Little tip for yous guys that go camping or hunting.

The Art work is nicely framed and not bad looking. So at least $100.00 if sold right. The things with a flashlight looks like a attachment for a helmet. Those are high capacity magazines, hopefully there is a amdisty (?) box at a local armoury so you can get rid of them. Or if you know someone in the National Guard, failing that: take a sledgehammer to them.

It is a Military Commader/Sgt Major Coin for a Afghanistan Unit. It has the Commander's and Sgt Major's Name. I am guessing it is about the size of a playing card. Usually Challenge coins are the size for a 50 cent piece to a Silver Dollar. But with Desert Storm and the ability of mints to make more specialized metal designs they have become fancier to include Trucks, Tanks and the like. Nice piece and they can go depending on the Unit they represent fairly decently.
