Living in the 21st century has both helped and challenged my mental health. On one hand, there’s so much awareness and access to mental health resources, which makes it easier to find support. Technology and apps can be great for managing stress and tracking well-being. But on the other hand, constant digital overload, social media pressure, and the blurred lines between work and personal life can feel overwhelming.
It’s stressful with deadlines, tech, and pressure to perform. Online classes feel isolating, and group work can be hard. It’s good for time management, but schools should offer more mental health support.
I think 21st- century education, despite all the efficiencies it offers, is starting to focus more on simply 'getting the task done' rather than giving importance to the essence of learning itself. This might be because our current education system is designed that way, leaving us, feeling imprisoned by it no matter how hard we try to break free.
21st-century education’s emphasis on critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy impacts students’ mental health in both positive and negative ways. While it fosters skills like adaptability and teamwork, which can boost confidence and social connection, it also introduces challenges like increased pressure, digital overload, and cyberbullying. To support mental well-being, schools must balance academic goals with strategies like promoting emotional resilience, managing screen time, and fostering supportive learning environments.
