They are starting serial production of the Il-114 and while it is not strictly a cargo plane it does have cargo variants and a very interesting Il-140 development with four engines intended to replace the Il-38 MPA. India now seems interested in the MTA programme again but seems to want to get production rights and technology transfer of the engines so I am not sure that makes sense for Russia. They are working on the Il-212 with the engines above the wings ala An-72. I wonder if the Il-276 with PD-14M engines could be located above the wings too for the very same reasons.
What's wrong with the 2014 modernized Ilyushin-76MD-90A with it's 4000 km range at 50 ton strategic airlift capacity ? Any less cargo may as well be dispersed unto automated drones (e.g. the Chinese CH-YH1000 with 1 ton cargo capacity). How advanced does a transport airplane really need to be ?
The purpose of the Il-112 is a cost effective replacement for the An-26. The engine it used is the TV7-117, which will be used in the Il-114, the Ladoga, the Altius drone, and the Mi-38 helicopter. The new VK-3000 modification of the engine is going replace most of the in service medium helicopters like the Mi-24, Hip, Havoc, Ka-50, Ka-52, Helix and similar types, so this engine is going to be everywhere, parts will be cheap and most air mechanics will be familiar with the aircraft. If you fly out to some far flung airfield and you are in a jet like an An-72 and you have an engine problem you are in trouble. With the above engine there are probably parts and some guy who can fix it if you can't fix it yourself. The Il-112V was not cancelled but was frozen till the engine could be adapted to greater power levels and better reliability. The need for a light cheap transport with a widely available engine is not going to go away. It is why they still use the An-26s when they have had An-72s for 3 plus decades. The short term solution is the Il-212 which will use two PD-8 engines above the wing and replace the An-72 and anything smaller, and be a lighter cheaper Russian solution for light transport below the Il-476. An Il-212 with PD-14 engines could have been an interesting solution to replacing the An-12 too, but a scaled down Il-476 with PD-14 engines makes rather more sense because of the larger cabin volume (height and width). The original Il-214 was intended to replace An-32s for India. The 12 ton payload means the Il-212 with PD-8 engines could probably do the job. The Russians shifted to a smaller wing shorter fuselage Il-476 called Il-276 with a payload of 20 tons to replace the An-12.
The biggest mistake Russia did was, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, they heavily relied on Ukraine for so many military components and aircrafts. Also despite knowing the fact that the PS-90 engine can't compete with western engine, they did not start designing a new engine. These two things put Russia backward in technology with the west.
Perfect example of WEAK LEADERSHIP. This program needs a strong leader to make decisions and cut through the blockages, too much time has already been lost. A good aircraft NOW is better than a perfect aircraft that never gets past the drawing boards.
where are the data from? because i found different data. basically that il276 is still in development and thats the one with engines above the wings. while for 212 only "increased payload" was announced but how how much. also i really doubt that it would increase from 5 to 12 tons
As long as Russia understand the production and standardization of parts from independent companies and manage to handle the new aircraft as project, then yes can be a reality. The Soviet model of state owned companies that produce everything simple not working not because it is a failure but because of people who rest on their seats and expect to make more money.....I am sorry but it is not working like this.....they have to change and follow the reality.

בלרוס יכולה ליצר את המטוס,ברישיון רוסי.
אם רוסיה תרצה,יהיה אפשר להמשיך על בסיס העבודה של מינסק/בלרוס

you make alsmost the same subjects these last videos while you never talk about drones in particular the new russian drone Kasatka
You are free to suggest topics. I will make one on it.
@altitudeaddicts the kasatka drone will be a good topic. This video was a good one though. Just it was another video on the same turnover topics.
