Jason, I'm so happy to hear that you all visit Nugget every day to check on him. I know it's a part of nature for him to sit on the eggs but it broke my heart to see him sitting there all alone when he's used to hugs and pets every day from his human family. It brought tears to my eyes to see you pet Nugget and bring him food and water in case he would take it, that's so sweet. ❤❤❤

Emu is gotta do what emu gotta do. His instincts kicked in and he's doing a splendid job of it. They won't drink eat or defecate during that time. So he's okay.
@merisehetherington9785 Jason and Brooke always do their research and know their animals better than any of us! They would not do anything that could potentially bring any of the animals harm. You are the one who should back off. They have spoken with several people who raise emus and know what they are doing!
I was thinking since Goldie doesn't go over by Nugget they don't want any predators to realize Nugget is there. When you go to Nugget it might actually stress him because he's trying to be hidden. When you go visit Nugget it makes you happy to know he's okay but maybe not him. I adore you all. Thanks for your videos.

Honey is so slow and calm with everything she does. Hopefully she will better soon. I'll be so glad when he gets them hatched and starts eating and drinking

From what I read you don't want to spook him and take the chance he won't finish hatching the eggs. it must be hard to let nature take its course. your care and love for your animals always makes me keep watching you and Brooke......🥰

You may be making Nugget miserable by tempting him with food and water to go against what should be a natural thing.. It would be like Eve giving Adam fruit from the forbidden tree.. To much temptation .I say let him be, he will make a good daddy ( just saying)

Kim from Michigan is still cold here, but we had all the weather you had that horrible wind ect. Everytime I see him sitting, I am amazed at the place she has chosen to lay those eggs. He is almost invisible. I certainly hope at least half hatch out.

Jason, cutting the grass is a wise decision. We don't want the cows to bloat. Teaching them to graze slowly is an excellent strategy. I admire your ability to learn from other farmers, ranchers, and beekeepers. Your farm demonstrates that you value and apply the teachings of your elders.
After 30 days of the eggs being laid, they usually will show movement at some point to show that they are viable. When he isn't on the eggs, take a flat board and set them on the board to watch for movement. Something I learned from another youtuber, lol.

I recently watched a video documenting a guy incubating emu eggs. Part of his check for fertility / viability &/or continued development was to weigh the eggs -- i _think_ it was daily but it might be weekly.. *ANYWAY* Eggs lose 10% to 20% of their "just laid" weight over their incubation period. He had one that the weight loss started to slow down in comparison to the other eggs & it seems like he increeased the humidity for a relatively short period of time & that egg caught up to the others.

It makes sense he isn't eating.... Eating/drinking means pooing/peeing... Up and down would fluctuate the required temperature ... The eggs must be very sensitive if he doesn't even get up at all! 🤷

It is so endearing that you take a bit of water and food out for Nugget. My heart just goes out to your effort. Male Emus bodies don't eliminate waste when they are sitting on eggs. They may change positions a couple of times a day to best protect the eggs from the sun and weather, but pretty much their digestive system is completely turned off while they are incubating, they don't even eliminate waste. It's amazing any creature can go that long without food or water and without moving. He must be in some sort of catatonic state to keep his metabolism really low. It will be good to see Honey feeling better! You guys're the best critter keepers ever!

Jason, When I gave pills to my pony, We had a device that looked a bit like a syringe with a claw on the end that you put in their mouth. You put the pill in the claw bit and then use the syringe bit to push it down to the back of their tongue or throat. I think if you did a search you could find one. they don't look too expensive. xxx

His instincts are telling not to eat or drink,I guess those old instincts don’t want them going to look for food or water so they shut down their desire for them. Maybe it makes him nervous because his trying not to draw attention to himself,staying hidden. You might leave the food and water for when he gets up to stretch?
Nugget is so bonded with and trusting of you. Imagine kneeling beside a setting goose to talk to and pet it.
Is he in a trace like state? They say that hummingbirds get into a specific state in order to migrate thousands of miles straight without stopping. Nature is incredible. ❤❤❤

Lester’s donkey has a cancer called sarcoidosis I believe! She is getting better too! Prayers for all the sick babies! Also, prayers for the whole family!
Sarcoidosis is an autoimmune disease, not a cancer. I have seen it many times (I’m a flight nurse).
You're right, my son-in-law has it, not cancer.
I have Sarcoidosis-I had a PET scan that showed light that looked like a Christmas tree they thought I had Cancer or Sarcoidosis. Had a biopsy and no Cancer just Sarcoidosis and now I have Neurosarcoidosis-a Central Nerve Immunosuppressant.
My grandson has sarcoidosis and it is NOT cancer. He's had it several years.

You could also switch the goats and donkey into Moodies pasture every so often to keep the grass under control and as a treat. I noticed how they have got their grass right down to the soil lol, if you popped them into that huge pasture for a week or so it would give their pasture time to recover!
