The good old times runs fast to escape us. Unfortunately if any is dreaming of recapturing the old times, it will be a wild goose chase. Sunny Ade in the oldie yesterday can never be the same today. Same with other artists, not even Adawa. Davido and others have tragically and senselessly taken over.
Lyric well worded to impart wisdom, understanding and refine culture for the betterment of the society and then pass this on to coming generations. Thank GOD for giving us differing gifts for HIS glory.
Never! The modern day musicians do not believe in meaningful lyrics that the generation of Elders KSA, Ebenezer Obey, Dele Abiodun, Idowu Animashun and others worked hard to build and achieve irrespective of analogue recording in vogue then. Their whole generation was noted for dexterity and hardwork. Therefore, it is doubtful if their generation can surface again! Let's take solace in their works that live on.
Admiral Dele Abiodun should give credit to Late Ambrose Campbell for this song. He first sang this song in early 50's to serenade late Alake of Egba who was on the throne at the time..
Even as at now, fuji is still nothing. What do they sing. When you listen carefully to almost all the different releases, they are so monotonous and uninspiring. Then look at the personalities (class) and lifestyles of those who get trend this fuji brand, you will admit that are in 85-95% clueless in all facets of life. They are always empty drums making noise nothing that is of wisdom to rub off listeners. Shame that fuji has space in our culture.
On a rainy Saturday morning in Lagos, this is the way to go: the Dele way
I am indeed short of words to express myself. He is a bundle of talent. Very lovely to listen to.
