In the first episode Einar saw his family killed right in front of him and even though he wanted revenge, he had to hold onto his anger and live with that burden. It’s the exact same situation here and I can imagine that experience flashed in his head again. Thorfinn helped snapped him out of it but man does it take real strength to hold himself back like that. This dude has gone through so much
Both Thornfinn and Canute's character development and progression has been nothing short of outstanding. Both are two completely different people from when they last saw each other. Yet there still kind of the same in ways. When ever they do interact, it's going to be glorious.

There's enough story for about 2 seasons. The manga is in its final arcs now. Could end within this or the next year. Since it's a monthly manga, i would say about 20 or so chapters left. That would mean about 120 chapters would still remain unadapted at the end of this season.
I dont know how mappa will potray the meeting between thorfin and canute but In my opinion the conversation between them is one of the most beautiful and meaningful in anime
